Jensen Ackles - 3.07 - "Fresh Blood" Episode Discussion

Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) capture a female vampire named Lucy (guest star Mercedes McNab) who claims to have no knowledge of how she became a vampire. The guys discover Dixon (guest star Matthew Humphreys), a male vampire, is giving out human blood to unsuspecting females in bars, offering it up as the "latest drug" and turning them all into vampires.

Meanwhile, Gordon (guest star Sterling K. Brown) escapes from jail and goes after Sam. However, Dixon intercepts Gordon and turns him into a vampire, which makes Gordon more powerful than before and a much bigger threat to Sam.

Kim Manners directed the episode written by Sera Gamble.

Gordon broke my heart!, Sam got me teary, and Dean OMG MY POOR SWEET DEAN! He had me bawling, like I haven't cried this much since he was talking to dead Sam. Such a sweet/innocent/simple scene and it just wrecked me!

WOW. Just...WOW. What an ep!
It made me yell out loud (a first) and made me cry (which I hadn't done since Jensen's lonely teardrop in 'Heart').

First, Mercedes McNab - YAY! for Buffy/Angel alum! Second, the way that Dean & Sam were upset that they had to kill her and then Dean walking off to do it off-screen was AWESOME!! So much can be done off-screen - I love it because I haven't been that crazy about how they have cranked up the gore this season.

Second, Gordon. I love this actor and think he has done a phenomenal job but I agree that it was his time. It just felt that that storyline had come full circle and what else are ya gonna do with him? They did a great job developing his character because he was so creepily psychotic yet you could *almost* understand where he was coming from. The line was blurred so very well.

I still got a laugh out loud moment when Dean said "Stopped for a slice." when poor Sam had been wondering if he was alive or dead.

I thought Lauren Cohen rocked her small but pivotal scenes. I love the collapse of her smirk when she heard "Gordon Walker" and I LOVED it when she stood up to him. I was all like "YOU GO GIRL!!" I am really loving her.

I yelled out loud and scared my dogs when Gordon bit Dean. Did anyone else focus in on the marks on his neck at the end when he was working on the Impala?

Okay and the scenes with the boys...Couldn't believe it but Jared really sold me in the hotel scene. His lips were trembling! And his voice cracked once! The scene felt a tiny bit out of place - timeline wise - but it was okay and at least it wasn't in the car.
And then the end scene of course - I cried. There was SO MUCH BROTHERLY LOVE packed into that scene. Oh Dean! I just wanted to grab him and hug him SO bad.

Great, great episode.

OMG This episode was intense, I ABSOLUTELLY agree with you CrystalPistol, I crack up at everything Dean says, the pizza comment was just another one to the list.

I do have a question though, I was sorta multitasking on a spanish project at the same time and I must have completely missed hwere Gordon bit Dean, So does anyone know if that now makes him a vampire???

And also i LOVE the relationship between Bela and Dean, The Love to Hate to watch them Hate to Love each other kinda thing...If that makes any sense at all =] But my question was is there a thread for Dean and Bela yet?

Hi laurenelizabeth12 welcome to fanforum and to the Jensen board.

Nope Gordon biting Dean doesn't make him a vampire, Dean would have had to taken in some vampire blood, and he didn't so he's safe, I'm assuming that's why Sam didn't go to check on him right away, because he had Gordon blood on him.

I'm right there with you on the Bela/Dean thing! ...There is no Dean/Bela thread yet on this board, if you'd like to start one please feel free to do so, or if you think we should have one but don't want to start one let us know and we'll be happy to start one. There is a Dean/Bela thread on the SPN board.

I actually watced the Hitcher last Thursday before SPN and I guess it just hit me while I was watching it like, oh sophia and jensen would be absolutelly stunning together, so I went online and typed their names into google and this is the site that came up. I can beleive theres so many fans of the two!

But Dean and Bela are amazing as well, and I would lovee to start a thread on them =]

Im also soo releived that Dean is not a vampire, I think hes got enought ot deal with already with the whole one year to live thing.

Oh and I LOVED the scene between Sam and Dean in the end, It was devistatingly sad, but adorable at the same time. I love when Dean opens up and we get to see some real emotion :]

Okay here are my two cents:

The opening made me sad

I lost alot of respect for Bella, she ratted out the boys a week after they saved her life.. WTF? I mean I know she is all about the money, but didn't expect her to roll on them like that.

I should have, but I guess I thought there was some good in her...so yeah, my girl crush on her GONE! *poof* she may gain my love back but it will take some major beggin on her part.

Gordon is such an awsome bad guy/hunter thinking he is doing the right thing. I have really enjoyed his character every time he has been on the show.

Dean alone in the alley and the close up *guh* of him cutting his arm..

uh.. where was I?

oh yeah and then him having to kill the girl was just the beginning of the sadness that flowed thru this episode. That whole situation sucked out loud. "We don't have a choice" and Sammy's whole flinch (again would like to point the non-evil vibe I get here) was spot on. I honestly felt sorry and that doesn't happen a lot with me .. I am all for killing them all

Dean calling Bella

I hated her cavilier attitude about it all . . like I said she lost a lot of brownie points with me. But my man Dean "Bella if we make it out of this alive, the first thing I am gonna do is kill you"

moment was when Dean was on the phone with her and says:
"Listen to my voice and tell me if I am serious" *click*

*ovariesexploding* WOW, I love me some vengeful Dean!!

He makes Marci very happy in her woman parts *snicker*

Moving On

Gordon as a vampire

one of the most awome things this season. I hate that he killed Deacon (?) I thought he could shape up to be another interesting character, but sadly

he is no more.

That right there is the reason I watch this show .. the brotherly connection, the love, the fight to stay together, the road ahead.

And just like that MY Dean is back, and we all knew he would be

that look about broke me and *hugglies* Dean cause I missed him but deep down I knew he was still in there..

SO they finally killed Gordon . . this makes me a little sadder than I thought it would. He brought the humanbadguy element to the show. . and I for one hate to see him go.

Yeah..just wanted to pop in here and say...wow! I just finished watching the episode (I have to wait til Fridays to dl it cause I don't have the CW!)..

And this episode...loved it. I don't have details as to why...but Marci pointed out some very awesome ones that I agree with

The phonecall back to Bella...Sam's lil speech..and the end.

And...I umm snagged those last two caps..cause yeah.

They make me not able to form words and stuff.

I think that's all..cause I have a ton of posting to do..and I just wanted to stop in and say that Dean Winchester needst o be my stocking stuffer for Christmas.

I think that is going to be one of the points of Bela this season - I think that Dean is going to break down her emotional barriers.

Sure it was crappy of her to rat out the boys 1 week after they'd saved her but people don't change overnight and she's been out for herself for years. She has already shown cracks in her defensive wall since meeting Dean.

Of course, they'll probably kill her off after she makes a major character transition.

It was a fantastic episode (aside from the killing of Gordon and Kubrick.

...and you're right everybody should have Dean as a stocking stuffer, heck I don't need any other presents if I have Dean

Edit, I'm all for them killing off Ruby but if they kill off Bela I will have to harm people!

(Bella that is, Ruby can die a horrible death) I really like her character, she brings a new element to the show that I like .. I am just hopefully devoted to the boys so anyone who crosses them is on my poop list too
