I'll add Jake's character name once it's available. But meanwhile, since we've just learned that it's official, we gotta have a thread for it.

I love these kinds of movies.

I'm so glad Jake accepted it and will be working with Reese. She's a great actress, I respect her a lot. I'll definitely look forward to this movie.

With an Oscar in her pocket, Reese Witherspoon can obviously be a little choosier about who she works with. And it makes sense that she’d team up with Gavin Hood, who nabbed his own golden baldie at this year’s ceremony for African gangster drama Tsotsi.

Witherspoon will star with Jake Gyllenhaal in Hood’s next film, Rendition, written by Kelly Sane. The plot finds a CIA analyst (Gyllenhaal) whose world starts spinning out of control when he witnesses the brutal interrogation of an Egyptian-American by the Egyptian secret police. Soon, he’s on the run for his life, and must in turn help the tortured man’s pregnant American wife Isabella El-Ibrahim (Witherspoon).

Hood will start a hefty shooting schedule in November that encompasses work in LA, Washington, Mexico, Morocco and South Africa.

According to Variety, New Line has picked up Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon to star in their upcoming political thriller Rendition.

Gavin Hood will direct and Steve Golin will produce. Hood's recent work includes Tsotsi.

The multilayered story centers on a CIA analyst, based in the Middle East whose world spins out of control as he questions his assignment after overseeing the secret-police interrogation of a suspected terrorist.

The Middle East has been a hot topic in film of late with quite a few new projects coming our way including Paramount Vantage's A Mighty Heart and Who Killed Daniel Pearl?

Witherspoon can soon be seen in Mark Palansky's Penelope, which premiered at this year's Toronto Film Festival.

Gyllenhaal will next be seen in Paramount and Warner's Zodiac.

Isn't Munich had that some kind of Middle East plot on it? I wonder why most Hollywood films portray ME countries are such hostile?

Casting is underway for the key role of Witherspoon's husband, as well as for their child. He is an Egyptian national -- whose interrogation, witnessed by Gyllenhaal's CIA analyst character, is at the heart of the story.

Jake Gyllenhaal & Reese Witherspoon Plan for 'Rendition'

The son, age 7, is half Egyptian, half American, and described as smart and talkative, but only speaks English. Also to be cast is Reese's mother-in-law, a traditional Muslim woman. Interestingly, Reese will be required to speak Arabic in a few scenes.

Shooting is now set to begin the third week of November, with locations planned in Washington, D.C., L.A., Morocco, and Capetown, South Africa.

I'm excited for this movie. Jake and Reese being two of my favorites!
