This thread is dedicated to the very close and deep bond of friendship between Ron Weasley and Harry Potter.

The Story of their Friendship

Ron and Harry met, in 1991, at King’s Cross train station when Harry was looking for platform 9¾ for their first journey to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Although Harry was raised as a Muggle (non-magic people), he was really a wizard and Ron comes from one of the oldest pure-blood families in the Wizarding World. They instantly hit it off and strike up a lasting friendship when they share a compartment on their first journey together to their first year of classes at Hogwarts.

"Anyone sitting here?" he asked, pointing at the seat opposite Harry. "Everywhere else is full."

This is when this wonderful friendship began...

Ron has a very large family, although poor, it is a very tight-knit and loving family, whereas Harry, who lost both his parents when he was very young has no other living relatives than his mean and cruel Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia and cousin Dudley.

"Are all your family wizards?" asked Harry, who found Ron just as interesting as Ron found him.

This is a key aspect of their friendship, as they are basically on equal footing from the beginning.

Ron is Harry's window to the Wizarding World as he shows and teaches him what he knows of this world. Harry is Ron's chance of being recognized in his own right. As they arrive at Hogwarts, first year students are sorted into one of four school Houses. Harry and Ron are both sorted into Gryffindor House and through their years at Hogwarts share most of the same classes.

They’ve had many adventures together over the course of their seven year relationship and have solved many mysteries which have only cemented their strong bond of friendship. But things have not always gone smoothly between the two best friends. They’ve had a couple of fall-outs triggered by petty and childish jealousy but they’ve always managed to work things out and it’s just made their connection all the more stronger and unbreakable.

Ron is more than just Harry’s sidekick, he’s become a hero in his own right. He’s fiercely loyal and very protective of Harry and in turn, Harry would do anything for Ron. They’re more than just best friends, they’re really more like blood brothers.
