i wonder why an ice cream truck? other than the fact that he loves ice cream. it could be like a popcorn or hotdog stand.

Well, when he was much younger he thought it'd be cool if he grew up to be an 'Ice Cream Man'... so, I guess it's been a long standing "dream" of his and he's now made it a reality!

Thanks, Roberta! It seemed to work this time! Drop in anytime!!

Exclusive Interview: RUPERT GRINT JOINS DUMBLEDORE'S ARMY IN 'ORDER OF THE PHOENIX'
By Emmanuel Itier
Contributing Writer
iF Magazine

Ron Weasley grows up and fights against Death Eaters and Lord Voldemort in the new Harry Potter

Things are getting dark for Harry Potter in the new film HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. Lord Voldemort returned at the end of the last film, and a fellow student was slain, and yet there are few back in the wizarding world that believe the tale Harry Potter has to tell. Alone, more than ever before, Harry finds out who his true friends are and bands together with them to form Dumbledore’s army to confront the growing darkness in their world. Rupert Grint plays one of Harry’s best friends Ron Weasley, and he is more than ready to stand by him come what may. iF MAGAZINE got to have a chat with the readily recognizable red head about what the POTTER films have meant to him and the best thing he has bought with his money from the movie franchise.

iF MAGAZINE: I would like to ask what is it like to initiate a new director?

RUPERT GRINT: All the directors have kind of always been quite different as well, so it’s always quite sort of exciting to meet the new ones. We’ve had some pretty good ones. Yeah, yeah… we’ve been lucky

iF: Growing up with this character, have you found that its influenced you in real life, the way you are today?

GRINT: Yeah, to me it’s really weird sort of looking back on all the films. It just seems like one long big film. It’s sort of weird looking back at the early ones -- just sort of how young we were and how much we’ve changed now, it is really weird. But no, we’ve really enjoyed it. It’s been a really good part of my life and I’ve really enjoyed it.

iF: Have any of you had JK Rowling autograph your books?

GRINT: Well, actually I already did. She went and signed my first book.

iF: With your POTTER paycheck, what, if anything, have you treated yourself to over the years?

GRINT: Oh, well recently I got an ice cream van. Sorry that’s really bad.

iF: There is so much speculation about the book. So how would you feel if your character doesn’t make it?

GRINT: I wouldn’t really mind if it was a really cool scene, and I die in a really cool way. In a way it doesn’t really matter because it’s the last one. I think I’d like to sort of survive. I heard rumors going around about what’s going to happen, so I’m really looking forward to seeing what the outcome is.

iF: How easy did you find it to become leaders and teachers of Dumbledore’s Army?

GRINT: I’ll tell you Ron isn’t really either Harry or Hermione. I really liked doing these scenes because they were really good fun and there was a really good atmosphere on the set. And we got to do loads of stunts as well, which was really cool. Yeah, and I got pulled back on a wire because Hermione and me have a duel.

iF: After HARRY POTTER what would you like to be doing next?

GRINT: I haven’t given it much thought, to be honest, but I’d definitely like to continue acting and I’d like to see what goes from there, really. If it doesn’t work out, I’ve still got the ice cream van!

iF: Does each film having a different director have a different feel on the set or do they all sort of run together?

GRINT: Yeah, I felt that this time around it was a lot more relaxed and David sort of makes you feel really calm because he’s really laid back. Definitely a contrast with Mike Newell.

iF: Can you talk a bit about the audience and how it may have changed over the years?

GRINT: I don’t know, really. I think it’s a kind of varied audience, I suppose. It’s quite for-- obviously, it’s quite for the younger ones particularly, and also they’ve probably grown up by now. When you get recognized, I’ve always had people say good things about the films and I’ve always had good feedback from the films.

iF: Which is your favorite scene in the film and why?

GRINT: Well, I don't know, really. There are loads of scenes that are really fun. I think the funniest one to sort of do and watch back was the Hall of Prophecies, because that was--There was nothing there. There was no set at all. It was all a green screen and nothing. And looking back and watching it is, like, really weird but-- yeah, that was pretty cool.

Did you guys see Rupert's interview on Late Show with Craig Ferguson? It's SO ADORABLE! Here it goes:

Favorite bit:

"You haven't read the last book yet, have you?"
"Well, no, it comes out... hum.... soon, I think."

His face is so lovely when he says that - in fact, he looks lovely all the time And the whole audience cheers when he says he bought an ice cream van, it's priceless!

Rupert on "Celeb Watch" from USA Today
USA Today has put up a new video interview interview with Rupert in which he gives the host, Will Keck, a tour of the Warner Bros Harry Potter museum in Los Angeles. Housed in this museum are props from all 5 films including Aragog (!) and some Skiving Snackboxes. Here's what Will Keck had to say about his day with Rupert:

I'd just come from a family reunion in Cape Cod, so I brought with me a bag of the cape's signature salt-water taffy. Rupert and I munched on some pieces in the museum while discussing the Skiving Snackboxes of candy that his character's mischievous twin brothers, Fred and George, sell at Hogwarts... We had a laugh when we realized just how long it takes to chew taffy... I have to say, after experiencing so many spoiled young Hollywood stars, it was a pleasure meeting someone so humble, polite and down-to-earth.

Also included with this interview, is a Q&A about what Rupert thinks will happen in the final Harry Potter book. You can check it all out on this page

Thanks for the link, Ana! I finally watched his appearance on CF last night and I fell in love with him even more. He seemed so shy and blushing like crazy especially when Craig would start ragging on him, it was especially funny the part when Craig was ranting about him going around in his Ice Cream van but not stopping for the kids. That was just hilarious!!!

Thanks for letting us know about this new video interview, Regina!

I liked the Craig Ferguson show too...I watch the show often because I think he is funny. He didn't manage to get much more than laughter from Rupert but that's okay...we like to see Rupert in anything right. I liked the MTV Canada interview more...I'm not sure why but I think Rupert seemed way more "into it" (and I think he'd have liked to keep eating the burnt marshmallow icecream).

Yes, I agree. Craig was yammering too much and not letting Rupert elaborate more on his questions... but seeing Rupe laughing and giggling was too cute for words, though. I really enjoyed his MTV Canada interview more too. The two guys "interviewing" him seemed to have a real knack of putting Rupert more at ease and he appeared much more relaxed in that kind of environment. It was adorable when they had him try those different ice cream flavors. He looked like he was having a lot of fun and enjoying himself.

Rupert was also on the Canadian show The Zone, so here's part 1 of the interview...

Part 2 should be up soon!

7 video clips of the hand/foot/wand ceremony are now up on YouTube...

Part 1: The trio arrive, give a small speech, and receive plaques

Part 2: Placing the wands into the cement, posing for photographers

Part 3: Signing their names into the cement

Part 4: Placing their hands into the cement, posing for photographers

Part 5: Placing their feet into the cement

Part 6: Final sentiments, more posing for the cameras

Part 7: Waving Good-bye. Rupert signing autographs for fans

Yesterday, Rupert appeared on CBS' The Early Show, you can watch the clip, HERE (*please right click and save as*), courtesy of RG.N

I'll be linking two wonderful new written articles in the posts below, so that's why I'll be double and triple posting as it'll be easier to link to in the first post.

Grint Grinning Over Magic Of New 'Potter'
by Tim Lammers, Web Staff Editor
@The Movies

Teen Star Thinks Ron Will Be Spared In Upcoming Book

Time really flies, especially when you're flying high on a broom.

We're reminded of that during flashback scenes in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," the hotly anticipated fifth film to be adapted from author J.K. Rowling's blockbuster book series. But if it feels weird to us seeing Harry (Daniel), Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) looking so young again, think about the reality check it presents to the film's stars.

"You get a glimpse of the early films on TV here and there, but it is quite strange seeing the flashbacks in the film because it doesn't feel like it's been that long," Grint said in an @ The Movies interview Monday. "It's been seven years now since we've started making the films, and we've changed quite a bit."

Harry, Ron and Hermione are coming of age at just the right time in "The Order of the Phoenix," which is undoubtedly the darkest film in the film series thus far. With Harry's mind being tortured by the return of Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) and the Ministry of Magic imposing strict rule over Hogwarts, the trio of friends must rely on themselves to form Dumbledore's Army with other willing students to fend off the evil that lurks.

Just like Radcliffe, Grint is thrilled over venturing into darker and darker territories with each book, simply because it presents him with an opportunity in a handful of films that some actors struggle to achieve their entire careers: a broad character arc.

"It's been amazing. Because the characters grow up throughout the books, they change with each film," said Grint, who'll turn 17 in August. "It's been really good fun."

But with each changing moment with the character, Grint said he keeps at the top of his mind the responsibility he's felt from the very beginning with "The Sorcerer's Stone."

"The responsibility was more so apparent in the first one because I had never done anything like it. I had only done school plays," Grint said. "But since the books are so big and everyone has an idea of who their Harry, Ron and Hermione are, you're always feeling the pressure a little bit. Over the years I've become more adjusted to it because people have gotten used to us. Plus, since the films are becoming bigger and better, it's becoming more and more fun."

A fan himself of the "Harry Potter" books long before he became one of the prominent cast members in the film series, you can just about imagine how excited Grint is about the pending release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" as much as the average book fan. And like his fellow readers, Grint is waiting with baited breath to see how the final story in the saga plays out.

"It's quite exciting, yes, since we know that two people are going to die," Grint said. "I'm definitely looking forward to it. It's going to be quite tempting to flip to the end to see what happens."

The interesting thing is, while Ron is definitely one of the characters at risk of dying in " The Deathly Hallows," Grint is amazingly laid back at the prospect of his character's feature film demise.

"I wouldn't really mind if that was the case, because, at the end of the day, it is the last book," Grint said. "It would be quite cool because it would probably be a really cool scene. But I've got a funny feeling that he's going to survive and it will be someone else. Plus, Ron's got the whole Hermione thing as well."

The "Hermione thing," for those who haven't read the sixth book "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," is a blossoming relationship between the two that expands beyond the good friends realm.

And even though Harry has finally experienced his first kiss (with Cho Chang) in "The Order of the Phoenix," the whole idea of Ron and Hermione doing the same for the next film is already hanging over the actors' heads.

"I think it's going to be quite an awkward moment because we've known each other for so long now," Grint said. "We're sort of like family so it will be strange. We'll have to wait and see."

Like Radcliffe, Grint took the opportunity between "The Goblet of Fire" and "The Order of the Phoenix" to get his feet wet with other projects. But while Radcliffe went the high-profile route with the sensually-charged stage play "Equus," Grint kept things a bit more under the radar with the independent comedy-drama "Driving Lessons," where he starred, ironically, opposite his "Potter" movie mom, Julie Walters.

Grint said that he wasn't necessarily looking for a "non-Ron"-type role in his first starring role away from the "Potter" series, it just happened to work out that way.

"'Driving Lessons' was really good fun because it was just so different," Grint said. "The 'Harry Potter' films take about a year to make and 'Driving Lessons' took about six weeks. It was low budget, but a good experience."

Of course, Grint isn't about to abandon Ron just yet. The actor and his fellow core cast mates have signed on to do "The Half-Blood Prince," due in 2008, and marching headlong into "The Deathly Hallows," which is set for a 2010 release.

____

I think we must forgive them misstating that Rupert will be turning 17 instead of 19 in August.

True Grint
By Robert W. Butler
McClatchy Newspapers
Ventura County Star

Actor doesn't mind the constant comparisons to his 'Potter' character

Sometimes an actor is so closely identified with a character that in the public's eye he practically becomes the same person.

In the case of Rupert Grint and Ron Weasley, the character Grint has portrayed in five "Harry Potter" movies (the latest being "The Order of the Phoenix," which opened Wednesday), you have to wonder if they really aren't the same person. When you ask him about it, Grint is good-natured about discussing the topic.

"I've always felt similar to Ron," Grint, 18, said recently in a phone conversation from London. "We've both got ginger hair" — that's what the British call redheads — "and we both come from big families," said Grint, who has four siblings.

Also, they both pepper their conversations with gee-whiz exclamations like "Smashing!"

So how are they different?

"Well, Ron's not really very brave. He's on the wimpy side. I like to think I'm braver than he is, though of course I'm afraid of spiders ..."

Potter-heads know Ron as a good-natured bumbler who sometimes doesn't seem to know which end of his magic wand is up. Grint likes to think of himself as more competent, then sheepishly admits he had to take his driving test three times before getting his license.

"It was really quite embarrassing," he confided. "I'm driving now, so it's all good. The written test was all right, but on the first practical test I made a few mistakes. I hit the curb or something."

Whereas Ron tends to be laid-back practically to the point of sleepwalking, Grint describes himself as "quite competitive." He said that side of his personality is most in evidence in the golf matches he regularly plays with James and Oliver Phelps, the twins who portray Ron's twin brothers in the movies.

But if you really want to understand the difference between Grint and Ron, you need look no further than the manner in which Grint got the job.

A fan of the Harry Potter books, he had appeared only in one school play when he heard auditions were being held for young actors for the first "Harry Potter" movie. So he created an audition tape of himself performing a rap he wrote about Ron and why he should get the role. That's a bit of audaciousness seemingly quite beyond a tentative fellow like Ron.

But lest we take this Rupert-is-Ron-is-Rupert business too far, Grint emphasized that while he loves all things Potter and the recognition the film series has brought him, he's aiming for a career beyond wizards and broomsticks.

Last year saw the release of "Driving Lessons," a low-budget film Grint made with Julie Walters, the veteran actress who plays his mother in the "Potter" films.

He played a teen torn between his strictly religious mother (Laura Linney) and the eccentric, over-the-hill actress (Walters) for whom he becomes a part-time chauffeur and companion.

The challenge wasn't just from playing a different character, Grint said, but also from working on an independent film with a budget just a fraction of that of a "Potter" project.

"I'd heard it would be different, and it was," he recalled. "It was much harder, a six-day workweek with none of the luxuries you have on the Potter' set. We had a much smaller crew and filmed in real locations around London. No big sets ... we were filming in people's houses.

"But I really enjoyed it. In fact, I preferred it. There wasn't so much waiting around. With a Potter' film, before each scene you have five or six rehearsals, then you do around 10 takes with the camera rolling."

All that repetition is a bit of a pain, Grint said. "You do get quite tired of it after a while. Partly it's my own fault. I have this problem with giggling at the wrong time."

Very Ron.

Looking to the future, Grint is committed to completing the final two "Harry Potter" films, though he'd like to find some other juicy roles to squeeze into his downtime.

"A few things have come up, but it's hard to fit them in. I've only got three months off between Potter' films, so mostly I just enjoy myself. I play golf with the twins, draw, paint."

And he said he keeps his eyes and ears open on the "Potter" set, which boasts some of England's finest actors — Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Brendan Gleeson, Maggie Smith, Emma Thompson, Gary Oldman, Jason Isaacs, Alan Rickman, Robbie Coltrane.

"It's a pretty amazing lineup, pretty cool people," Grint said. He doesn't grill the older cast members about their performing techniques, but he picks up a lot just by paying attention.

"It's definitely an actor's education."
