Ooh, that's a tough question. I honestly can't think of one at the moment...

Well, you have to consider his age... so what character in movies or TV could he play... hmm... let me ponder that a little bit...

I would create a new one for him, he deserves one from the start not one already done and seen on TV.

I wouldn't want him in a teen drama I admit I love those and watch them but I would like something more mature than just dealing with love triangles..etc.

It would test him as an actor if he did a period drama, like Pride and Prejudice or Wuthering Heights or something similar. I love period dramas.

Ohh yes that would be intersting. But I'm sure he will be amazing in any role.

I agree Eleanor. I don't know why but I've always seen him doing a period piece like the ones you've mentioned... it would certainly stretch his acting abilities and test his range as an actor... if he'd do something like that, it'd be a great project for him, I think.

Me agrees as well with the period drama's or comedies i don't care, such make sure it's a not a sappy teenage film.

Oh dear gosh... no... ick. That is so not what I would want for him... I want him to grow and develop his talent... keep testing his abilities with more challenging roles... in projects where he's a central character with layers and complexities... to see him flesh those things out... in roles that are mature and fit for his age.

I would want more roles to challenge him and go after other roles than just to the 'comedian' or 'sidekick' to show he's talented and can play all types of roles.

I'm bringing this over here as well since it's something we can all do to show just how much we appreciate, admire and support Rupert!

It isn't a major award... but Rupert has been nominated as Favorite Male Movie Star (nomination #12) at the Australian Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards! For once, he's nominated alongside Dan and Emma. So, let's all show him, and the world, our appreciation and support by voting for him and hopefully help him win!

The start of the voting process can be found HERE - you must 'sign up' for a nickname and the address fields may be a bit confusing but it's easy once you work your way around.

So, come on... let's vote for Rupert!!

The voting is open until September 20th and the winners will be announced in October.

Well... we kinda... know... sorta... realize... that... but even if he "loses" out to Dan... I am happy in knowing I did what I could to help him garner votes and show my support.

Thanks, Sandi!

__________

A new review which has now surfaced is very praiseful of Rupert's work in Driving Lessons as well as his chemistry with Julie!

Quote:
by Rich Cline ~ Shadows on the Wall

And Grint is a terrific foil for her (Julie). He maintains the character beautifully, letting us travel from inexperience to the first whiff of self-discovery and independence. It's a remarkably subtle coming-of-age story, and nothing we've seen Grint do before quite prepares us for the delicacy of this performance. Their strong chemistry intriguingly suggests Harold & Maude (without the sex).

I'll add this wonderful review to the first post.

I just think it's awsome he's finally nominated.Way overdue but he'll be getting my vote.

Thanks for the quote Darcy. Though it's not really a surprise I mean our guy can act.

Thanks to RG.N we know of a new Rupert interview from newspaper The Indpendent.

Quote:
Playing Ben in Driving Lessons is…
It’s nice to do something different. I’ve been doing the Harry Potter films
for quite a long time. They take two years each. This has no special
effects, no blue screen – it’s proper, real life. It’s good to be someone
different. Ben’s a bit of a loner and a bit of a geek. And I got to do a bit
of driving.

I took my driving test but…
I failed, the other day. I only failed on one thing, which was quite
annoying. I didn’t look behind me on a three-point turn.

The most surprising thing that ever happened to me was…

Getting the part in Harry Potter. I just sent a letter in to Newsround. Then
I got the audition. I had done a few school plays – I was a fish in Noah’s
Ark.

If I weren’t talking to you right now I’d be…
Playing golf. All my friends and my dad play.

In Harry Potter…
I’m having a really good time. There’s a really nice atmosphere because we
all know each other. It’s a family atmosphere.

I wish people would take more notice of…
Learner drivers. I’ve had some close calls. Because I’ve been learning I’ve
been driving round with my dad – I get beeped quite a lot.

A phrase I use far too often is…
‘Wicked’ and ‘cool’.

A common misperception of me is…
People call me Ron. It’s quite close to my real name.

I’m not a politician but…
I’d make the speed limit bigger so I could go faster. My family are into
motor sports – my dad used to be a rally driver. I quite like hot rods,
classic cars like that.

I’m good at…
I can do cartoons and drawing. It’s one of the few subjects in my GCSE’s
that I passed.

But I’m very bad at…
Dancing. In the film I had to have salsa lessons – I found that quite
difficult.

The ideal night out is…
I like going to see bands. I’ve seen the Foo Fighters, the Strokes and Velvet Revolver. I went to the NME awards.

In moments of weakness I…
I’m pretty laid back.

The best age to be is…
I’m quite enjoying 17 to 18. I’m 18 on 24 August. You have more freedom and
just get to do more.
Awww he failed his driving test!!Bless him. And his dad used to be a rally driver!!Cool.

Aw. Better luck on the next drivers test, Rupe.

Aw, he knows he says 'wicked' and 'cool' way too much!

Thanks for posting it for us, Laura! It's a pretty fun little interview.

I'll add this to the News Thread.
