Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, definitely, but the one influence I hear in every song is U2! Might be just me but I just get the U2 vibe in all of Sam's Town, and I love it Even WTWBD has a "Sunday Bloody Sunday"-like beat

ETA: I'm reading the NME review of Sam's Town and they think there's some Queen in it, what do you guys think?

Of course there is. "My List" is the most Queenish thing I've ever heard from them.

Did you guys pick up on any influences in particular in Day & Age? I think the album is very 80s and The Cure-ish. 'Goodnight Travel Well' and 'Joy Ride' (Joy Ride especially) really remind me of The Cure

I totally agree, Tar. I mean, they always had The Cure as influence, I think. But it is really obvious in D&A. And, yeah, it definitely has a vibe from the 80s. So they put it all together in a very experimental way and added their own vibe to it.

Ooh and I totally get a Reggae feel from 'I Can't Stay', which is probably why I don't like the song that much, 'cause I hate Reggae

Ah, c'mon, there's some "listenable" stuff in Reggae

But I don't see much Reggae in "Can't Stay". I see much more Samba than Reggae, actually.

I hate Reggae with a passion, I can't listen to it for more than 5 seconds

I definitely get a Samba feel, true But very subtle. Obviously, since The Killers and Samba is a very weird combination

Nah, I actually have some reggae on my computer. Don't you even listen to Bob Marley?

Yeah, it's a weird combination, but it exists in "I Can't Stay". But I don't think it worked. It made the song rather boring.

I don't I like him as an artist but I can't stand his songs

Yeah the song is kinda boring. They should stick to their 80s influences And classic rock. But it's kinda cool (and brave) that they went there and gave it a try.

I listen to it once in a while, but reggae isn't my cup of tea either.

Yeah, it was brave. Plus, this was the album they tried new things the most, it's really experimental, so it's okay to try these unusual things. Cos even if it doesn't work out very well, they can learn from the experiments.

Totally. Every band deserves an 'interesting' album, even if it doesn't please everyone

Yeah, every band has an album with questionable quality. Even the best band in the world, Belle and Sebastian, has an album that's not very critically acclaimed. Plus, they usually release awesome albums following the bad one.

The next TK album will probably be EPIC if they manage to put together the awesomeness of all the albums they've released so far

And yet I have no idea what this album will sound like! I mean, they have made three very different albums, so you really don't know what to expect next.

I kinda want it to be more like Hot Fuss than the others, just 'cuz it's been a while since we heard something like that from them. Day & Age is more like Sam's Town than Hot Fuss, IMO.
