Influences#1: I'm coming to find you, if it takes me all night...

As the title says, it's a place to discuss The Killers influences.

Aw look at this thread, all dead

*ahem*

When You Were Young is very Bruce Springsteen-ish in my opinion. And U2-ish too (especially the guitar!), don't you guys think?

Yes!! Very Springsteen!!! I couldn't hear enough of the guitar (over the phone) so I don't know about that yet.

What U2 era are we talking about here, Nath? Like Old-School U2 or new U2? I can't decide what I think about the influence yet. I'm still processing.

I'm with Roz, I can't quite decide on specifics. Although when I first heard it it really reminded me of a lot of the 80s songs my dad listens to.

More of the new U2, Roz! VERY U2-ish guitar riffs in my opinion.

I like old school U2, but I can see the similarities between new U2 stuff and WWWY.

I'm one of the few people on earth who likes the new U2 stuff a bit better than the old Everything's awesome, really.

Wasn't Bono the one who told The Killers to "spare us the interesting second album" ? I think he's very proud right now if he heard WYWY

Ann: It's really not that big of a pit.
Leslie: We can do some of those things.

Well, when bands have a really good first album, the second one is usually really different and "interesting" in a bad, crappy way So Bono wanted them to spare us "that" album.
