Yes he has. I have a feeling there will be many satisfied theatre goers after the performance from the eye-candy alone.

New article regard the age ban or lack there of for the play from the Telegraph.
Quote:
Harry Potter and the full frontal dilemma
As the star of the Harry Potter films, he is the heart-throb and role model every parent wants for a child. But now Daniel Radcliffe, 17, has sparked the first great parental dilemma of 2007.

Should they allow their children to see the young star perform some of the most explicit nude scenes ever staged when he hits the West End in February?

David Pugh, the producer of a new production of Peter Shaffer's Equus, which stars a fully naked Radcliffe, has insisted he will not ban children from any of the performances.

The lack of a ban is likely to prove highly controversial and is in stark contrast to the policy adopted by other theatres in the West End.

Children under the age of seven are discouraged from attending performances of Mary Poppins for fear it is too frightening.

Mr Pugh told The Sunday -Telegraph: "We will offer parental guidance and we will point out that some scenes in Equus are unsuitable for children. But there will not be a ban on them attending the performance. Every child is different and they will react to the play differently.

"I am not going to start playing the game where I say you can't come because you are 11 or you can't come because you are 14.

"Who the hell am I to start saying that?

"I saw the play at 14 and it changed my life. If I hadn't seen it I wouldn't be producing it now."

Equus, which had its premiere at the National Theatre in 1973, is one of the most controversial and acclaimed works in the English language. It charts the relationship between Martin Dysart, a psychiatrist, who will be played by Radcliffe's Harry Potter co-star Richard Griffiths, and Alan Strang, a disturbed teenager who is referred to him after blinding a horse with a metal spike.

Over the course of the drama the psychiatrist carries out interviews with the patient and his family to try to find a motive for the crime.

At the heart of the story is Strang's obsessive and very physical relationship with a horse called Nugget. In one scene, a naked Strang kneels before the horse as an act of worship. In another, he is clearly sexually aroused by the act of riding the animal.

"The nudity and those scenes are an essential part of the story," said Mr Pugh. "We are not doing it as an excuse to show Harry Potter's willy.

"Daniel is fully committed to the role and he has not asked for any special favours."

Radcliffe has lost no time in promoting the play among his huge army of fans. The star's discussion forum on his official website is awash with messages from fans wondering if they will be able to go.

One 13-year-old girl wondered what Radcliffe will be like naked, but her message was soon removed by the website adjudicator. A 15-year-old girl doubts she will able to see the play but is buttering up her mother just in case, while a 14-year-old says she will be happy to see anything as long as the horses don't get hurt.

The production, which opens at the Gielgud Theatre, is expected to be one of the biggest non-musical money-makers of recent years.

The box office was last night quoting £48.75 for all its stall seats.

Shaffer, who has resisted previous efforts to revive the play in the West End, agreed to back the revival after Radcliffe agreed to a private performance for the playwright at the Old Vic.

"It wasn't a question of finding a play for Daniel to do because we knew it would be a hit," said Mr Pugh.

"I have been wanting to do a production of Equus for eight years and the problem has always been finding the right boy.

"When Daniel performed for us at the workshop we couldn't take our eyes off him."

I couldn't help but snort when I read that. I really wish I could see this play live- it looks so intense!

It is. I worry for some young attendees who just want to see Harry Potter. That's what I hate about all the hype. They ALWAYS use his association with Harry Potter to add to the shock value. "How can Harry Potter do this to the kids. That's indecent." I hope parents who let their kids see it, are responsible.

The poster inspired me to do these...

Word.

I think something like this is what Daniel really need to sort of break that type-cast mold Harry Potter is setting up for him.

See, that a load of dragon's dung. This isn't some sex show he's doing this is an award winning play. And by the amount of support he's getting from the fans I don't think the kids are too bothered by it.

Especially the 14 year old girls who seem to be preoccupied about seeing his wobbley bits....

PS- wicked avies Amy

Thanks.

Yeah, I think the majority of his fans are thrilled for him to be chosen for such a demanding and challenging role. I mean when the frecking award winning writer of the darn thing wants YOU, how can you say no or not be flattered. For any actor that would be a huge compliment and a boost to your esteem as a professional actor.

It's the people who prefer to pigeon hole him as Harry Potter forever that write this off as a stunt or attention seeking on Dan's part.

This will no doubt be the biggest trial by fire that he's ever had and probably ever will have in his career. And to think he has the courage to go for it at such a young age is inspiring.

I agree. It's such a huge transition for him. But I think Dan is the right guys to do it. He's worked with such wonderful directors that prepaired him for this role that I think whoever goes to see this play is in for a real treat.

I only wish I lived in England to see it

I'm holding out hope that we'll at least get a glimps of it. Lots of productions invite the media to tape segments of the show while they are in dress rehersals. And when you think about how high profile Dan is making this play, the media will be clamouring to get an exclusive profile. Obviously they'll choose to show the less controvercial moments of the play and we definately won't see any nudity or sex scenes. But I'd love to see Dan perform, even if it will only be for a few minutes. I'll take it.

And then there's the chance that someone will sneak in a camera and record it secretly and later upload it to youtube. But with the restrictions on youtube it will be a challenge to keep it there.

I'm hoping for at least a few pictures myself. They don't need to be the nudey ones either. To be honest that might be a bit of a shock to me if I do see them.

As much as its been a part of everysingle DFC-er's fantasy for the past 6 years.

I'm also not into the total frontal nudity thing. A glimpse is good enough for me.

They've now cast the actress who will play Alan Strang's girlfriend. And the lucky girl is....

Joanna Christie

Quote:
Joanna Christie is the young woman chosen by Daniel Radcliffe to be his girlfriend - on stage, that is.

The Harry Potter star makes his West End theatre debut in Peter Shaffer's play Equus in February and Joanna Christie will play the teenage girl with whom his character Alan Strang — a groomsman who has blinded six horses — has a torrid fling. The young lovers have a steamy sex scene together.

Director Thea Sharrock and producers David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers auditioned 308 young actresses for the part of Jill, the stable-girl.

The list was narrowed to six, each taking turns to perform scenes on stage with Daniel in a secret session one lunchtime at the Prince Of Wales Theatre, normally home to Mamma Mia!

Joanna, 24, from Holmfirth in West Yorkshire (Last Of The Summer Wine country), was called back four times to test with Daniel in some of the play's most intimate scenes.

Finally, she was chosen and contracts were signed on Wednesday.

'It was the chemistry between them,' observed Mr Pugh, one of the producers of Equus, which will begin performances at the Gielgud Theatre on February 16, with a first night on February 27.

Mr Pugh joked: 'She was the one Daniel fancied the most, and that swung it for us.'

Award-winning actor Richard Griffiths leads the cast with Daniel.

Griffiths will play the psychiatrist who explores why the troubled youth carried out the seemingly senseless acts of cruelty on the horses, although it turns out it's the shrink who is more in need of healing.

Jenny Agutter, who played Jill in the screen version of Equus 30 years ago, will also be in the drama, this time playing a magistrate.

At least Joanna has someone to turn to for advice on how to tackle the role.

The young actress recently returned from travelling with a theatrical troupe around India for a year and has done several plays since she graduated from Mountview theatre school in North London.

One of her earliest performances was in Immaculate Conceit, with the National Youth Theatre.

Those who have worked with her describe her as a 'very charismatic free spirit'.

Score.

Thanks for the info Amy!

So, Dan prefers older women. This means I still have a chance.
