'Close to Home' Heartthrobs Continue to Shine in Films

Since the legal drama, Close to Home, got axed from CBS' lineup in May, many of its stars have since gone on to do projects for the big screen.

David James Elliott who starred as District Attorney James Conlon on Close to Home, headlines the family comedy, The Rainbow Tribe, which is slated for release in February of next year. The film is based on a true story and follows the travails of middle-aged Morgan Roberts as he meets up with his best friend and revisits the summer camp of his younger years. He comes across a bunch of shabby and disheveled 10-year olds and together, they rise above their individual troubles and experience one of the most memorable and meaningful summers of their lives.

The movie, which is currently still being filmed, also features Ed Quinn from Eureka and Stephen Tobolowsky from Deadwood.

Another Close to Home heartthrob, Christian Kane, has also been busy doing work for the big screen. The 33-year old actor, who rose to prominence as the sexy and scheming Lindsey MacDonald on the vampire cult series, Angel, stars as Ryan in the motion picture entitled The Hill.

The romantic drama tells the story of a group of close friends from NYU who graduated the same year as the tragedy of September 11. They come together anew after seven years to attend a weekend wedding in Athens, Georgia. The joyous occasion helps renew the ties that have previously bound them, allowing the spirit of love, friendship and forgiveness to heal their respective heartaches.

Aside from Kane, The Hill also includes Desmond Harrington of Rescue Me and Sons & Daughters, Kathleen Robertson of Beverly Hills 90210 and The Business, Will Estes of American Dreams and Reunion and Jon Abrahams of Boston Public and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The film is scheduled for release sometime next year.
