I hope she fulfills her task taking as little screentime as possible. I don't like her, but even if they had hired Johnny Depp to play a new key figure to the mythology I wouldn't be able to warm up to them with 18 eps left.
How about giving some Jacob related purpose to Claire? I'm not a fan of Claire either, but she's already there, and I can't imagine Ilana was part of the plans for the end when they decided where to go with the plot in S2/S3.

I don't like her either. I just accept she's going to serve some purpose in the story and hope it's interesting.

As for Claire, I haven't a clue how anything with her will go down next season. I just have my theory on how she'll be re-introduced.

I've stopped making speculations. I have some scenarios I don't like one bit floating around my mind and it's better if I don't try to figure out the details of them.

Long story short: I fear we could have 2004!Claire back, and not know what the deal with 2007!Claire is for several episodes.
I can only keep my fingers crossed that there won't be a reset.

I think they'll either try to fool us into thinking a reset occurred or that it will happend, but be temporary.

It's too soon to judge and one should never comment before seeing the real thing, but on paper both options look like a waste of time to me.

Agreed, but the old gang (or a part of it) seems to be coming back so I'll need to accept it.

I still choose to view that comment as their way of saying the final season will be mostly character-driven, it'll be about a group of people stuck on the island for some reason (no more separations and divisions), it'll mostly be about those people with whom we started. I see the return of the dead as some kind of unnecessary, but for Darlton cool, tribute to the way it all started.

I wish I could trust their comments about the time dedicated to the characters, but they've been saying it too often and even when the reality of an episode or a bunch of episodes completely contradicted the statement.
A tribute is a nice thing and I would've been ok with it, but when I hear of

that's a bit too much in my book, if the past can't be altered.

I think even a tribue is too much and unnecessary when all these characers got nice and memorable (Charlie) endings. I'm sure many more will die until the end so it would be nice if they could also get fair treatment and decent farewells.

I'm hoping those numbers are bigger just to secure the actors for as long as neessary, but that their stay will not last that long.

I just don't want a reset in any capacity. I loved the old characters, but they're dead. Let's focus on the ones that are still alive.

The Purgatory theory was debunked by the producers, but they've also said that there would be no time traveling in the past.

Maybe the dead characters will return for some big illusion/con set in motion by Esau, but that's not really possible if Locke and all the other "visions" we have seen so far were Smokey, and he can only change his form one at a time.
