Same here! It took me a little to make the connection, when I started watching Lost only Emilie and Matthew rang a bell with me.
I watched Kama Sutra dubbed in Italian and problably with some scenes censored, still it was enough to catch the mood of the movie.

Ilana is very lucky. Her life was spared because of the hooker boots she kicked Sayid in the face with.

I wouldn't say popular, but there's speculation on what her true purpose is. Apparently Jacob "touched" her wearing a glove unlike what he did with the losties. So what that means? I have no clue.

With Lost, you can never know if a detail is random or deliberate.

I do know that the fact she was touched by Jacob like the other Losties sort of made the importance of the gesture fade a bit in my eyes, but that's my own bias - I have an irrational issue with imagining that a woman introduced at the last minute received the same "special" sign of all the original players. It makes me wonder how "special" the sign is to begin with.

I don't think she's anywhere as important as the losties, but I guess she's here to service Jacob in some way.

Techinically Jacob may not have touched Jack either, except through the Apollo bar, so I think Ilana is probably just as important as all the other Losties he encountered.

I really don't mind her, and even kind of like her, but it's hard to care for people who join the show when it's almost done.
