I was browsing around Wikipedia reading their Lost descriptions of episodes that featured Skate and this one from WHH was interesting:

Kate also tells Carole that she is returning to the island to find Carole's daughter, Claire Littleton (Emilie de Ravin), and bring her home.

The bolded part is interesting in describing why Kate took Aaron in the first place: She needed an outlet to help herself "get over" the feelings she had for Sawyer.

Now I know that TPTB said that she took Aaron to "replace/fill" the void of losing Sawyer, which implies that Aaron was simply a replacement for Sawyer, and that Kate is not over him at all, but what if she did get over Sawyer? What if the way she felt about him 3 years ago has lessened over time? TPTB never said that those feelings she had for Sawyer 3 years ago were still there, so I think it's up for debate.

I only bring this up because personally for me, I did see a little bit of "overness" from Kate when she came back. I know most Skaters feel differently and think that there is no way her feelings have changed, but I do think there is a chance that she may have gotten over her 'attachment" to Sawyer during those 3 years and that those feelings have subsided. Not gone away completely, but have been lessened due to her having Aaron and having time to resolve those emotions she had for Sawyer.

Anybody agree or at the very least see what I am saying?

If not, it's okay.

hello!!!! the day before she came back to the island she admitted to Cassidy and to Carole why she kept Aaron and broke her heart giving him up, and she came back to the island and she wasn't over him not even close.

I'm gonna copy and paste what I am saying at the Lost board.

I know Kate took him because she needed him, but that was 3 years ago. That's the whole point. Kate needed Aaron to fill the void left by Sawyer when he jumped.... 3 years ago. She held on to Aaron and lied to everyone and played the role of Mommy to him because she needed him..... 3 years ago. All that happened during the course of 3 years. What about now 3 years later?

Does Kate still have those feelings for Sawyer that were so strong that she needed a baby to lessen the pain of losing him, or did those 3 years with Aaron help? Was the void filled?

I think it was to an extent.

To be fair, Kate's realization happened the night before she landed back on the island so I don't think she fully resolved the way she felt about Sawyer during the course of the three years.

^^Yeah. I really don't think she came to terms with how she feels. She just snatched up Aaron and then buried all her unresolved feelings for three years. It's not even like three years before she had a grasp on how she felt about him either. So giving up Aaron was just one piece of the puzzle. I guess season 6 answers all the questions, if we can get a ****ing Skate scene before the year 2020.

I actually agree with Ada.

Kate's feelings for Sawyer are still very much unresolved. Much like his for her. Neither one of them had any closure. What they were forced to do, what any person would do, is make the best of their situation and move on. But in no shape or form do I believe that Kate or Sawyer are "over" each other.

If they were over one another, I doubt their relationships with Jack and Juliet would've fell by the wayside because of each other.
