Thanks for coming up with the title and opening the thread, Crystal.

She's been away for over a week now.

There was something seriously wrong with her computer, but she couldn't figure out what exactly and she couldn't get in touch with her technician last week. I guess her PC collapsed totally. If she had to buy some new parts, it might be the reason why we still haven't heard from her. She takes her time when she buys things like that.

Actually, I think I'm gonna cry now.

I'm back... although, I'm not really back.
I have no idea what's wrong with my computer. It "died" last Sunday's morning (the 13th) while I was trying to perform a checkdisk session. I called (again) the tech guy on Monday and this time he picked up, and was here in the late afternoon. He tried to see what the issue was but he couldn't do anything and took the computer away with him. He said he would update me on Wednesday.
He never called again. O_O
I tried to contact him on Friday and today, but he didn't answer the phone.

I tried to be patient.
I read 5 books.
Watched the World Cup matches.
Enjoyed the summer.

BUT REAL LIFE SUCKS, OK?
I missed the internet like a junkie misses heroine, lol. And the worst part is that the first days I was ok, but the more time passed the more psycho I got, lol.
Today I reached the breaking point - I was alone at home, I had finished another book, went out to look for job offers ((with the pouring rain). I got so desperate I even cleaned my room without my mother treatening to kill me.
And then I couldn't take it anymore, I went down to the basement, took my old computer (the one with an hard disk of only 20GB and the broken graphic card) and plugged the wires... and it's working!!

It's a pain in the ass, slow like hell, but it allows me to be online so god bless this old piece of junk.

You guys, I missed you tremendously. ;___;

I have no idea what's going on with the technician. To be fair, in the past he has always been wonderful, so now I can't get bitchy until I know why he is MIA. But he must've seen my calls on his phone and a quick text message to tell me he is too busy to look into my computer or even just call me back would've been nice.

I know I'm gonna sound desperate but one week without internet was torture. I've got so used to check even the stupidiest stuff online. And it goes without saying that not being able to visit this place and post drove me insane, especially the last 2 days.

The old computer is slower than a snail. And if I open a page with a big animation or too many pics it's almost like if I were on dial-up. And I'm back to the 640×480×16 color resolution of doom, lol. But it's better than nothing.

What's going on in the fandom world? Any juicy news?

Han Solo Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart finally got married.
That Karate Kid remake actually did pretty damn good at the box office. Way better than I expected.
Amanda Bynes has quit acting. I know, Amanda who?
Stella McCartney is knocked up for the 4th time.
The New Kids on the Block and The Backstreet Boys performed together at Radio City and made fans lose their sht.
Lady's Gaga's music video for "Alejandro" looks like atleast three Madonna videos rolled into one.
And Miley Cyrus is still annoying.

Trust me, I'm ready to find interesting pretty much anything that is new.
Because all I have had access to in the past week have been the world cup matches (and only a few of them because national tv doesn't air all the games on the regular channels anymore, the bastards), old movies (mediocre ones, mostly) and reruns.
And when I say reruns, I talk about Ghost Whisperer, One Tree Hill, Samantha Who, Journeyman, Eli Stone.... The best I could find when I had time were some episodes of The Shield.
Yesterday I even rewatched Cold Mountain even if that movie bores me (and I hate that the male lead has to die, also because that was one of the few times I found Jude Law cute).
You know what I had in the plans for tonight, after Spain vs. Honduras? Elizabethtown, with Kristen Dunst, on Rai2. That was the level of my desperation.

I always tell myself that I am too dependant from internet, but going from relying on it too much to not have it all was... traumatic.

I called the tech guy three times today... now I'll wait until Wednesday not to look too pathetic.

I must say... the girl took a wise decision choosing to quit.
I saw that one. It kind of made me laugh, which I guess isn't the best reaction one can have.
I like Lady Gaga, but I don't see the super genius/revolution everyone sees.
