| Quote: | Where were they when James found out there were no guns? | I don't think they were halfaway back yet, but it looked already too late to go back or stop, Sawyer asked Juliet where were the guns, she told him there were no guns, she had lied otherwise Jack would've never let them go back. It was just before they were reached by Hugo asking to join them. Quote: |
That makes sense. I often don't give the writers enough credit with character moments.
| I was nicely done, although the reason was clearly stated for Juliet and left more ambiguos for James. Juliet said to Jack that she had to go back, and later to Sawyer that her reason was "karma". She owed that to the Losties. She then askes the same thing to James, "why are you going back", but then Hugo interrupts them with his arrival. IMO, it was showed with many touches why Sawyer went back: first, just like Juliet, he thought if someone had to join a "suicidal mission", irt was better if it were him. Second, there was the talk with Kate at the creek, how she mentioned things going not good for Sayid & co.m, and her desire to go back for them. Also, even if he was showed in a dark mind place, a lot of little things reminded us his attachment to the group, how he wanted to protect them (Jin & co. included) - he wanted to keep Hurley and Kate safe, he said to Tom that bullet was for Walt... __________________ "Audiences are a lot smarter than studios give them credit for.
