Josh as Sawyer in Lost S4: Apparently, it really is about bunnies.

This thread is to collect and discuss all the news, spoilers and speculations about Sawyer in the fourth season of Lost.

We will survive the hiatus!

Spoilers
August 13, 2007
From Jorge Garcia posting on DarkUFO's blog: Season 4 Filming starts around Wednesday 22/Thursday 23

August 12, 2007
- From the Lost official magazine, via SpoilerFix.com:
Spoiler:
Carlton Cuse and Damon Lidelof reveal: Who is on that frieghter and are they good or bad is a significant part of next years' show. [...] If Naomi was lying about working for Penny... who says there even is a boat?

- From secretagentman @ TWOP - more casting news
Spoiler:
Also appearing in 401 and 402, with possibly more eps down the line, is Arthur Stevens. He is a ruthless corporate recruiter, tall and thin, with a chilling prescence.

Exclusive: Kristen Bell Won't Be Getting Lost - Ausiello Report | TVGuide.com

August 8, 2007
Entertainment Weekly.com - 'Lost': Fantasy Island
Spoiler:
The producers deny that: 1) ABC is moving Lost to Friday night, at 9 p.m; 2) they have offered Peter Stormare a role in Lost's fourth season; 3) they have offered Forest Whitaker a two-episode gig in the upcoming season.

August 7, 2007
Ask Ausiello about the casting for Champignon
Spoiler:
Question: Have you spoken to Darlton about having Kristen Bell on Lost? If you pull this off, I swear (and you have this in writing, with AA witnesses) that I will send you one case of Diet Raspberry Snapple for every episode of Lost that Kristen appears on. Hope you're up for the challenge!— Erin
Ausiello: You better get busy clipping them there Snapple coupons, Erin. And while you're at it, slap on a pair of Depends, 'cause this is the kind of exclusive casting prattle that causes mass piddling: I can tell you for a fact that Kristen's name has been brought up with regard to the new role of Charlotte, the hot twentysomething who is said to be "precocious, loquacious and funny... a very successful academic who also knows how to handle herself in the real world." Yep, sounds like our Kristen! The only question now is whether my in-demand BFF is ready to jump back into another series. And, if so, will the financial toll wrought by all those Snapple purchases force Erin to declare bankruptcy? Please, God, let the answer be "Yes!" to all of the above!

Whatch with Kristin - Casting rumors
Spoiler:
Rosie in Houghton, Michigan: Have you heard anything about Peter Stormare and/or Forest Whitaker appearing on Lost this season?
Interestingly, Peter and Forest have the same manager. We heard the same rumors you did and asked if either of those guys would be appearing on Lost this season. The management company came back with "not that we know of." That doesn't mean they're not working on a deal for one or both of them to be on Lost. But if it is true, it sounds like nothing is certain.

by Sam G @ The Fuselage - More details about the casting spoilers
Spoiler:
Jack Bender is directing
401 & 402
[RUSSELL] - late 30s, a brilliant mathematician and deep thinker who is capable of great insights and has a tremendous knowledge across various scientific fields. He sometimes struggles socially by being too direct and disconnected in his interpersonal relationships. While an empiricist by trade he is humbled and fascinated by the magic and mystery of all in this world that cannot be explained by science....RECURRING ARC WITH A POSSIBLE OPTION FOR SERIES REGULAR FOR NEXT SEASON. Starts with Episode 1 - 8/19/07
[CHARLOTTE] -- late 20s. Very attractive in a naturalistic, athletic way, her looks are only one small part of charms. Precocious, loquacious, and funny, Charlotte a very successful academic who also knows how to handle herself in the real world. On a personal level it is hard to crack the hard shell of poise and certainty around her, but when it DOES crack its like an egg; lots of repressed and pent up emotions spill out....RECURRING ARC WITH A POSSIBLE OPTION FOR SERIES REGULAR FOR NEXT SEASON. Starts with Episode 2 - 8/29/07

August 1, 2007
Ausiello Report | TVGuide.com - Lost Introduces the Other Others!?
Spoiler:
First up is the recurring character of Russell, described as a brilliant mathematician in his late thirties who is "capable of great insights and has a tremendous knowledge across various scientific fields." Well, won't that be helpful. Unfortunately, he tends to be too direct for his own good, and as a result, his personal relationships don't always add up. Russell is scheduled to turn up in Episode 1. Also recurring is Charlotte (debutting in Episode 2), a hot twentysomething who is said to be "precocious, loquacious and funny... a very successful academic who also knows how to handle herself in the real world." Interestingly, she, too, has a tough time relating to people. Beneath the surface, there's "lots of repressed and pent-up emotions."

July 31, 2007
- Ask Ausiello - Libby
Spoiler:
Question: Is their any confirmative information regarding Cynthia Watros' much-anticipated return to Lost in Season 4?— David King
Ausiello: Can't confirm that Watros is returning, but I can say that Libby's story will definitely be revisited this season. Backing up what he and Damon Lindelof teased at Comic-Con last week, Carlton Cuse tells me, "There is a cool part of [Libby's] story that we have yet to tell."

- secretagentman @ TWoP - casting news:
Spoiler:
Two new characters begin in eps. 2, possibly extending the rest of the season, and perhaps next season. Russell, a brilliant mathematician in his late 30's and Charlotte, an attractive, athletic academic. Names may change of course.

Michael Emerson interview with the Comic News Insider podcast
Short re-cap of the spoilerish part by Thetailsection.com:
Spoiler:
Jacob has been cast, is somebody that has worked on LOST, but we have not heard them speak and we may never see him speak. He could remain in the shadows. (reinforcing my theory that Jacob is Jack Bender.)
The freighter is not connected to Dharma.
There is still more to learn about Ben's background. Man Behind the Curtain was just a sketch.
The conflict between the hostiles and Dharma will be explored more in season 4.
Emerson believes the 'hostiles' were a separate research group who have assumed the Dharma work.

Scant Season Four Details
Spoiler:
- They are looking at a mix of flash backs and flash words, with a larger number of flash forwards.
- The flash forwards tell a linear story, but will be presented in non-linear format from the vantage point of different characters. (This kills the 'only Kate and Jack' got off the island theory.) The big kicker is the Flash Forwards will be shot, according to the source, in Los Angeles.
- Production will begin in mid-August and complete in March.

Season 4 Rumours by JOE
Spoiler:
1. The AICN stuff about flash-forwards and flash-backs is true. It will be roughly split in half, the flash-forwards will tell a story culminating with how we saw season 3 end. That doesn't necessarily mean just Jack and Kate get off the island, but whatever flash-forwards we see will culminate with Jack deciding they have to go back and trying to convince Kate.
2. The flash-backs will be mostly from Others: Juliet, Ben, Alpert, although Desmond is definitely slated for at least 1.
3. The temple is important, and will be explored in the last half of the season
4. Rousseau isn't telling the truth about her experience on the island
5. Karl and Alex will have a more central role.
6. Sawyer and Kate will continue to be distant.
7. Locke will not be part of the main group of castaways for the majority of the season, he will be off to the temple with Alpert and then doing his own thing.
8. You won't be able to tell right away that what arrives in the ship is bad news, but it absolutely is

- We will find out what happened to Annie.....it is another chapter of Ben's story that will be seen at some point early in the season...
- Alan Dale (Widmore) will be seen again...
- Nick Jameson (Richard Malkin the Psychic) will make another appearance this season...
- The season will focus on 2 (two) main story arcs that will occur during the season and will explain many of the things we are all wondering about....

Hey Misty!
Sorry, I got lost in a long, confusing, meaningless post in the Italian thread (it's almost a bless that my poor English stops me from doing long considerations outside from there, lol).

We could go into a deeper analysis of the Orchid video and what it could say about the mythological stuff in the show... but are we really interested about that?

This week Ausiello is back... I have some hope for his column, maybe he got some juicy bits in the backstage of Comic Con?
I still have no idea when Kristin is supposed to be back, but the spoiler chat is going to take place gain tonight, right?

No, we don't. There's a thread on the Fuselage in the Spoilers section where they discuss this video. I checked it a few times but every time I feel more and more confused.

I don't get why the bunnies can't get close to each other. I have a vague recollection of some cartoon/movie I've seen in which the same human being can't meet his version from another dimension because it would create some kind of damage in the order of the two different system... I don't know what I'm saying.
Chichiri on L-F made a transcription of the video and all its frames:
Quote:
Spoiler:
SHOT:
Incoherent voices in the background as someone shines a light into the camera, holds up a shading card for several seconds, then focuses the camera on the back wall of a laboratory.

SHOT:
A couple guys wearing black in the foreground, Marvin Candle sitting in the background; more incoherent voices.

SHOT:
MC sitting on a stool, patiently enduring a woman applying makeup to his face.

MC: *sigh* I never get used to wearing makeup.

OS VOICE (MALE): You look great. It takes away the shine.

MC: Who cares if I shine? I'm a scientist, I'm not a--

SHOT:
CU of a rabbit cage. A pair of hands pull a white rabbit out of the cage.

SHOT:
Regular shot of the lab. The hands belong to a woman, who holds the rabbit while MC finishes buttoning up his white lab coat, smoothes it out, then takes the rabbit from the woman. Woman closes the cage and carries it off.

OS VOICE: Turn the rabbit around, please.

SHOT:
CU of the rabbit in MC's arms as he carefully turns it around, revealing the number 15 painted in black on its left side.

OS VOICE: Good.

SHOT:
The rabbit again.

SHOT: A single frame of what looks like Dr. DeGroot, with glasses and beard and all, walking past the camera.

SHOT:
The lab, MC holding the bunny and looking at the camera.

MC: Hello. I'm Dr. Edgar Hallowax, and this is the orientation video for Station 6 of the Dharma Initiative. As you've no doubt--

SHOT:
A single frame of a far shot of the building Alvar Hanso was standing in, in the first orientation video (from 2x03).

SHOT:
The lab, MC and the bunny again.

MC: --surmised, Station 6, or "The Orchid," is not a botanical research--

SHOT:
The lab, closer shot of MC and the bunny.

MC: We apologize for asking you to deceive your family and colleagues. This is, of course, in the interest of their own security.

SHOT:
CU of MC.

MC: The unique properties of this island created a kind of Casimir effect, allowing us to--

SHOT:
Title card, showing the words "God loves you as He loved Jacob." for a single frame, followed by a brief FLASH of white.

SHOT:
Medium shot of MC and the bunny in the lab.

MC: The field you have been selected to study is highly volatile, and potentially dangerous. But over the next few minutes we will demonstrate the elaborate safety measures that have been put in place, to ensure that--

An object falls off of a high shelf behind MC.

MC (annoyed): --the hell?

OS VOICE: Hey, what is that? What's going on?

Multiple OS voices start speaking excitedly as the camera ZOOMS IN to the shelf above MC to show, briefly, a white rabbit with the number 15 painted on its left side.

SHOT:
The lab, a bit off to the side, MC looking up at the shelf incredulously; BKGD voices continue.

WOMAN (entering frantically): Oh God, it's 15!

MC: What the HELL!?!?

SHOT:
CU of the Bunny #15 on the high shelf.

SHOT:
CU of MC, holding his own Bunny #15 tight and backing away.

MC (panicked): Don't let 'em near each other!!

The camera pans back and forth between the woman, climbing up the shelf to get the Bunny #15 up there, and the the Bunny #15 in MC's arms.

MC: When did you set the shift?

WOMAN: Negative 20!

OS VOICE (FEMALE): Ten, nine, eight...

MC: How long?

WOMAN: Nine minutes, but we're still learning--

The camera has settled back onto MC, who is glaring into it.

MC: Why is that still running?

OS VOICE (FEMALE): Seven, six...

OS VOICE: You told me to keep the camera running while--

OS VOICE (FEMALE): Five...

MC: Turn it off.

OS VOICE (FEMALE): Four...

MC: TURN IT OFF!!

A beep sound.

SHOT:
An upside-down shot of a man riding a bicycle in what looks like Otherville, but I'm not sure. He looks like he's wearing a Dharma janitor's outfit. This lasts for a few frames.

SHOT:

The lab, MC holding Bunny #15 in his arms and looking at the camera. All seems well.

MC: Hello. I'm Dr. Edgar Hallowax, and this is the orientation video for Station 6 of the Dharma Initiative.

SHOT:
CU of MC's face.

MC: As you've no doubt surmised, Station 6, or "The Orchid," is not a botanical research unit...

Before he can say more, the film runs off the projector.

Somebody on one forum joked about it. I think the poster mentioned "Back to Future" (is that how it's called) with M.J. Fox.
Time travelling, here we come.
That's so not what I wanted Lost to be.
The thing is they give all these hints but a regular viewer can't pick up on them. Not even I can do it and I'm online all day long. The FF idea went well, but it implied nothing about going back to past or future.
I wonder how people will react when it all becomes more obvious.

I think this is a good thread to keep up with the latest news and speculations about the video: The Fuselage. It looks to me like they have most of it figured out, but I still don't get anything.

I think FBYE made people consider the possibility, it was inevitable, although the confirmation that Desmond had time travelled came off screen, from the producers. I agree that all the other hints are hard to pick and remember, like the skeletons that seem to be so important.

I don't know.
People on boards had no idea what to think about that episode. We've seen flashbacks before so the most logical thing to assume was that it was yet another one. I think that's what a regular viewer woud do.
The producers did confirm time travelling in the podcast but how many people listen to those? A smaller proportion of online fans does.
But how can the people who don't go on the internet and visit forums know that?
I don't think they can or do.

I just saw on Kristin's page a lot of "Heroes" actors were on the Comic Con.
Also, actors from BSG were there.
Those from the new Bionic Woman show, too.

We got Damon and Carlton.

I don't think they can or do.
I was confused as anyone else, but there were things in the episode that made me think about the possibility, more than the little things, there was Mrs. Hawking and what she told to Desmond. It could be a vision, true, but not a simple flashback.

All I'm saying is that it can get confusing.
It's impossible, physically, to remember all the previous hints at time travelling, when you watch the show as a regular viewer.
I have no idea what Desmond was saying about turning the key, purple light...
When I see a Dharma video I tend to forget all about it very soon.

It's the characters and their stories I care about and remember.

I'll see if I have those four saved. We could send 2 each?

This is true. Also, the fact that Desmond has visions is even more confusing about the nature of that first flashback(?).

The spoiler chat thing is still cracking me up!

Go Francesca.

I thought you'd posted the spoilers already. You should have all things considered.

From Kristin's spoiler chat:

Spoiler:
Ruby in Antwerp, Belgium: Any scoop on Lost?
Executive producer Carlton Cuse and line producer Jean Higgins appeared at the LATV Festival last week, and E! Online spoke with them exclusively, getting answers to your questions. As for the for the future of the show in general, here's what Carlton had to say: "Some people speculated that [going forward] the show will be set in the future and then flashbacks to the present, but no, we aren't changing any of the format of the show. We are just adding the flash forwards as an element. They have made a radio call to a freighter, and there are people on that freighter, and it might be logical to imagine that that storyline will continue... The situation is going to be very intense this year. Charlie wrote on his hand not Penny's boat, and the message he wrote on his hand was very important. It was really funny because [the clip at Comic-Con showed] Mr. Friendly saying, 'by the time you see this, I'm gonna be dead, but I am telling you it's a shame because whoever is going to come after the Others is going to be a hell of a lot worse than we ever were.' Damon and I were listening to him and sort of nodding our head going, 'That's pretty prophetic.' "

John in Spokane, Washington: There are rumors of a new Lost set being built along the lines of a temple or ruins. Have you heard anything?
According to Ms. Jean Higgins, "I don't expect any [permanent sets] for season four."

Ana in Denmark: What can we expect for Jin and Sun this season?
According to Carlton: "With Jin and Sun there is a very dynamic situation at work. She's pregnant...the fate of her child, the fate of their marriage, all those questions Damon and I will get to and more this season."

Pyotr in Moscow: Good news that Michael is returning to Lost, but what about Walt?
Again, Carlton Cuse, "Walt will be back also. But we're not going to get into any details about that."

Myrto in Athens: Hello from sunshine-filled Greece. Just one Lost question. Are we going to see Jacob again or learn anything about him in the fourth season?
According to Mr. Cuse himself, "Yes, you will see more of Jacob."

Finally, a very special question. : )

Spoiler:
Francesca in Italy: Please, anything about Sawyer in Lost season four!
We asked Carlton if he had a favorite pairing in the triangle, and for what it's worth, he said, "I'm just a Sawyer fan..."

Watch with Kristin - Spoiler Chat: Lost Flashes, Heroes Journey, Lights Up (for Love)

All questions, except for one, were from Europeans!

Francesca, clear some space for PMs.

So glad to see Lost back in the spoiler chat, although we knew basically everything already. Now Calrton, go defend your favourite in the writers room.

Sorry about that , I have tons of your PMs with useful links I can't delete. I need to create a "Misty" folder in my browser bookmarks, lol.

I'm kinda happy that they picked a question about Sawyer, don't know why. I just love to see him mentioned everywhere.

It was mostly what we heard from the Comic Con.
Jin and Sun's was kind of easy to guess.
Spoiler:
So they won't have a permanent set for the Temple?

I wonder if Ausiello will have any new Lost spoilers tomorrow.

We should go with Sawyer-oriented questions next. Some more specific.
Will we ever find out more about the Tampa job?
What was Sawyer's birthday wish regarding Kate? *I wish.*
Are we going to see more of Clementine and Cassidy?

I don't want to see anything more with Cassidy. Irrational, I know. She is the mother of his child. I just don't like her.
