"DJ: Awesome year for Sawyer and it was great to see that transition. What was it like to play that, to see, kind of like, Sawyer step up and be like this great boyfriend and great leader?
JH: Well, at first, it was a little scary, cause I was like, I had gotten comfortable in being a bit of an 'ass', if you will, and just playing that side of the character, I really enjoyed and I was a little nervous of 'oh no, am I going lose the edge of the character by actually having a relationship and trying to be a leader' and all that sort of thing. So, at first, yeah I was a little nervous about it. But I was also excited to do something different because you're on a show, you get into a rhythm of your character and after awhile you want to explore something different. So, they, the writers, enabled me to do that and it turned out fine, I think. And it was alot of fun working with Elizabeth Mitchell and developing that relationship. What we had three scenes to develop it, I think, so we were a little bit like'OMG, how we gonna sell this in three scenes? Like we've been together and we love each other.' At first that was a little daunting and then once we got into it, it seemed really natural and thank goodness I was working with such a professional, she's so good. That was just a lot of fun to explore, as an actor.
DJ: And the season finale, of course, goes and breaks our hearts.
JH: Oh ya.
DJ: What was it like preparing for that moment? Was that tough?
JH: It's funny, those scenes. Yes and no. As life goes on and my life gets more enriched by getting married, having children - I just have a newborn, now - the stakes have risen in my life. So, now it's easier to play a scene, where possibly losing that comes into play. So, that's how I prepared. I have a newborn on the way and I was just thinking, well I had to think, well, what if that was taken away? And, there you go. Roll camera."

Sorry it took me forever to open this thread yesterday night, girls! I promise to add more things in the next few days, I spent the past week-end mostly sleeping.
Sio, I had already put the title suggested by Steph in the thread when I saw your post, but it's mentioned in the OP for future use. I also added the text it was taken from in the quote section of the post.
And Steph, thanks for sending me the quotes! I cut them down to save space.

And to get the OT out of the way: thanks for asking about my issues these days, I'm feeling way better today so I hope the whole thing is over, whatever it was about (I blame the crazy rain of last week and the cold temperatures of the morning, I got completely soaked one day).
I was just feeling very tired, and my bones hurt (lol), yesterday and the day before I had some fever, too, but now it's gone.
Don't worry Sio! I was joking saying Steph it's just me and her in this thread, not always when one comes online there is time or we're in the mood to post in all the boards and threads we usually frequent.
Sooner or later you'll get to that 2% of success, just try not to think about the outcome and concentrate on the process, even if it's boring.
I got sad re-reading the finale quotes, it's not a big deal if we keep that episode out of our OP for a little longer.
I couldn't enjoy this year's finale because of how crazy the decision making process of some characters was - as I told you, that's my obsession and overshadows all the rest. The Locke reveal was pretty good for instance, but when I think about the episode I remember people wanting to blown up a whole island for the chance to avoid romantic heartbreak and I can't appreciate the story.
The writers fooled me once, shame on them, if they fool me again, shame on me.
I only take a little ocnsolation in the fact that all the characters and relations suffer the lack of that, even those developed for a lot more episodes.
The actors' performances sometimes make the whole scene, in Lost.
I want a photo as evidence!
I just hope you find some more inspiration, no matter if you don't finish it, they could be like stand-alone vignettes if the overall plot doesn't work for you.

yeah... the decision making of some characters was really poor and that made the finale a lot less good... ... I agree with you on that one!
yeah I feel the same... it makes it a little better and it also gives me more hope for next season
Lost wouldn't be this good if it wasn't for the actors!!

Look at it from a pragmatic perspective: they pay you for your work regardless of the results of the tests.
I'm decided I will go back to The Incident in the middle of August - one more negativity-free month.
I just hope the show will give a satisfyng ending to the story. I don't care what they do with the overall plot, as long as everything doesn't turn out to be either a dream or have too much to do with religion.
Yes, sometimes a facial expression has to do the work that dialogues and plotline couldn't achieve.
I mean Juliet's final scenes uses a pretty silly device if you think about them in a detached way (the chains wrapping around her waist), but Elizabeth sold the whole thing, completely.
I may get an avatar with a jungle landscape picture to help.

Elizabeth sold it perfectly... I mean everyone notices how great she was... everybody loves her now!!! I think she will be overwhelmed at CC because of all the Juliet love...
I'm really really excited and it's just a little more then a week and hopefully we'll get tons of pictures and interviews of her

Does this sessions of experiments have a deadline, and the results of the tests depend on what you do to the materials?
Nope. But I have to get over my cowardice sooner or later, I want to rewatch the episode before the spoilers for S6 start pouring in (the cast of Lost goes back to set on August 24), and I'm counting on the news from the "V" production (which starts on August 12) to give me a Liz fix and a reason to not think that I'll have to do without Juliet now.
Jacob and Esau being presented as god-like figures isn't too encouraging, but I truly have no idea where the writers are going. And I'm trying not to think about it, I'm even considering staying spoiler free, but I doubt I'll manage to resist the temptation next August/September.
I love the idea of Elizabeth being overwhelmed , her character in Lost has been praised but fans were always divided in terms of affection about her (the old trust issue). I think this is Liz's chance to finally feel the love, without any "buts".

I like it too, very much. It's a shame it got cut off, although it was necessary.

No I don't really have a deadline... if this isn't going anywhere my professor will just at some point put me on a different project... but it would be wasted time then and to finish my degree I have to publish papers, give talks about my project and make posters... It's just not too good if it doesn't work at all...
It might be a good idea to watch it before the spoilers come out... I'm not sure if I'll watch it before season 6 starts ... no kidding... I made a deal with Cassandra that we're going to watch the episode before I leave to go home ... I might end up watching it on my birthday ... crying my eyes out...
I have no idea where the writers are going... I stopped having an idea when they started with the time traveling... and then suddenly with the whatever happened, happened story... that was too weird for me ....

Thanks for the picspam link, Fran! I love that scene, and they both look so gorgeous in it - especially Liz's eyes I have such a fascination for moments like that that we see between two characters who eventually become a couple, it's just amazing to think about how far they've come since then.

I agree Steph that Liz will probably be overwhelmed with the reaction she'll surely get at Comic Con I'm so happy that she will get to experience that though, she truly deserves it! And I admit that I was one of those who was on the fence about her in the beginning because of we never really knew if we could trust her, but, having watched her character develop over the past three years, I've gradually fallen for her and come to adore Liz and her portrayal of Juliet. And I think that happened for a lot of viewers too, who will surely be very excited to see her in a few weeks

Do spoilers for Lost start coming out quickly once it starts filming, usually? I think this is the first time I've ever really been following Lost spoilers so much since it started

See, I already didn't trust the writers before the time travel. I trust them even less after the finale. I'm not in a good place, lol.
Probably not. We'll see, lol.
Because in a later episode Frank had to tell the Others that she had recognized her as an other, the scene wouldn't have worked if Jules had been warned about that by Sawyer.
I liked, but the actual love arrived slowly. Her death (?) in Season 3 wouldn't have affected me as much as it did in Season 5, this is for sure, but I recognized how interesting the character was since the beginning, especially in a show that lacks a big number of strong female figures.

I can't help it, I hope Elizabeth will be indeed overwhelmed by the fans' love at Comic Con. Who knows when she'll attend a convention again, I want it to be memorable for her.
It depends, last week we even got pictures from the premiere very early, we just didn't know what to make of them, lol.

Ah, ok yeah, now I get it. I know what you mean.
I think if she would have died in season 3 not many people would have really mourned her, but now it's a big difference because people saw that she is a strong female figure and they invested in her character... people like her more than they like Kate and I really think that that's a big deal. Juliet is just so incredibly selfless, no other character is like that... I mean look at Jack or even Kate... they are both the opposite of that... he is really selfish, IMO and she is in my opinion not that bad, but sometimes her decision making is pretty poor...
I think it will be memorable for her... I'm pretty sure about that... I really wish I could have been there... but San Diego is a little far away ... guess I just have to find her in Seattle someday...

That's right! I'd forgotten about that. I have a feeling Boston Legal will get a bunch of noms that will knock Josh Holloway out, but I don't know what the competition is like in the female category. She (they both did) a phenomenal job this year.

Glad to hear this week is looking up, too.
