TV Guide Mega Buzz: Sawyer and Phil
I know you guys have some hints about Lost's finale. Don't hold out. — Joseph
TIM:
ABC's promos spoil that Sawyer, Kate and Juliet return to the island, so we asked Patrick Fischler (aka the Dharma Initiative's Phil) what could possibly turn the sub around. "Let me see, how do I put this? Sawyer," he said. Fischler says Phil plays an "interesting part" in a season finale that answers lots of questions, but ends with a game-changing cliff-hanger. Might Phil face the music for belting Juliet last week? "I think Sawyer may have to have a little payback," says Fischler. Look for our full Q&A with the actor, whose credits also include Southland and Mad Men, next week.

4 Sneak Peeks for 5x16/5x17 - The Incident

Watch with Kristin spoiler chat: season finale; Sawyer/Kate
Scott in Ft. Collins, Colo.: What can you tell us about the Lost finale?
As Michael Emerson so impressively put it: The Lost finale will make you eat your soul. Also, stuff blows up, Jacob walks among us and we cry like crazy.
Sara in Rome: The last episode of Lost killed my Skate shipper heart. This should be the moment when you comfort us by telling us everything will be OK. Right? Right?
You guys have got to stop living episode-to-episode (you're going to give yourselves coronaries!) and start thinking long-term. Why? Because long-term, everything will be OK! Promise.

The Huffington Post - Interview with Michael Emerson
Do you have theories?
You know, I used to have some serious theories, but they were ill thought out and juvenile. The ending I see now is going to be almost beyond my imagination. And based on the events in this finale next week, I'm struggling to figure out what the show even is starting next season.
So tell me as much as you can about next week!
Well, we're just leading up to a kind of big climax, like we do every year. Except this year, it will be doubly powerful. We have two sets of heroes. Both of them are on quite dangerous and desperate missions, the outcome of which has the potential to completely upset the landscape of the story. To change it in ways that I don't know how we come back from. So that's why I said, I can't even guess what the show will be like when we start the 6th season. If I'm even in it. But I will certainly be greedy if I am, to read that first script. To see where we landed.
So you don't know if you're coming back?
Well, I don't think anyone ever knows. Officially it's still the end of the summer. I mean in strictly legal or contract terms, you don't get picked up until...I mean, it's not for sure until you get the network pick up letter. But I have every hope. I think Ben is fairly deeply involved in the storyline now and it would be a shame and a terrible mystery if suddenly he disappears. I'm hopeful.

Sky One promo for 5x16/5x17 - The Incident

New York Post interview with Lindelof & Cuse
"Not everybody is interested in Faraday's mission," says Lindelof. "It's a very divisive issue and one that the audience is feeling too. It would be a big cheat, erasing the last five years of the show, and making it so that we never came to this island in the first place."
The show has been a wild and often confusing ride, but Lindelof and Executive Producer Carlton Cuse say they know exactly where it's all headed.
"That was a conversation that started back between seasons one and two of the show," says Lindelof. "We are following the plan pretty much to the letter, although there is room for improvisation." Lindelof says next season - which will be the Emmy- and Peabody Award-winning series' last - will bring things full circle.
"Season six will feel a lot like season one," says Lindelof. "The focus comes back to the characters with whom we began. We've been winnowing away everyone else who came along. The Tailies are gone, only Miles [Ken Leung] is left of the Freighter Folk and only Juliet [Elizabeth Mitchell] is left of The Others. We're getting down to the end now."
"The metaphor we like to use is that this is a road trip. We know we intend to end up in New York City, but maybe we'll pick up a hitchhiker or stop at a bar and get drunk along the way," says Cuse.
"And then linger there for six episodes," jokes Lindelof.

THR.com interview with Lindelof & Cuse
The ultimate goal of humanity is to mature in some way, and the characters on Lost are no different. Their hope is that by the final episode of the series we'll be able to look at them in contrast to the pilot and say "Wow, I've spent six years of my life on these people, and they've really changed" - or attempted to (there are three categories: "Change", "Tried to change", and "Die").

Official Audio Podcast with Lindelof & Cuse | recap
- The S5 finale will satisfy fans because has a good mythological advancement, but will make people frustrated about waiting 8 months to see what happens next, because the ending has a S1 feeling according to Carlton: like when they opened/blew up the hatch and didn't show the content, and we went "You're kidding me". Damon says that they've promised that S6 would reflect somehow S1, and they're starting that this season, which has Jack at the Swan, just where S1 ended.
- Fan question: where does the compass come from? Carlton says that it's a fashinating puzzle that has no solution. Damon: if you ask them where it comes from, they would turn the answer - what came first, the chicken or the egg? Carlton: the idea that there is an infinitive loop is a very intentional motif that is excuted here. One of the challenges of the show is that they believe in a larger world of mystery and magic and they have no intention to demisty that world of Lost overexplaining things. The fact that the compass exists between those two characters is just a cool piece of mystery and magic.
- Damon feels that this finale (and the S6 premiere) will give us a good dea of where ths is all heading and will end.
- Damon makes a list of names to put under "Good Guys", "Bad Guys", "Haven't decided yet". Carlton puts Kate, Hurley and Frank under "Good Guys", Rchard under "Haven't decided yet", and Sayid under "Bad Guys".

E!Online's interview with Michael Emerson
As a Lost fan yourself, how shocking did you find this season's finale? Is it more shocking or less that the season-three finale where we learned Jack and Kate got off the Island?
Ours is a show that specializes in big shock endings, but I think season five...None of the other shock endings left me wondering how the show goes on. We have two kinds of huge shocks at the end of this one. Each one alone would be enough to keep an audience eating its own soul for the whole hiatus, but with two, I don't know what you can do with that.

whatsontv.co.uk: episode description for 5x16/5x17 - The Incident
In the double-bill finale to series five, Jack takes drastic action to put things right on the island. This brings him into conflict with the other Losties and looks set to lead to ‘the incident’ that Pierre Chang talked about in his orientation films.
There's also set to be a first glimpse at the mysterious Jacob, who it appears has been following some of the survivors for quite some time. And as the group's adventures in the 1970s come to an end, we'll discover what became of Rose, Bernard and Vincent before the Losties find themselves in an entirely new situation.

Question: Got any scoop on the Lost finale? --Carolyn
Ausiello:
Funny, we posed that exact question to Damon Lindelof at the Hollywood premiere of Star Trek earlier this week. "All I will say is that it is time for the time travel craziness to end," he said. "And once it does end, something very, very surprising will happen in its wake. It is a little bit of a game-changer."

Watch with Kristin spoiler chat: What Happens in the Lost Finale?
Anna in Cardiff, England: Please, any hints for this week's episode of Lost? Can I expect something between Sawyer and Kate?
All we can say is that after you see the finale, you'll understand why season five of Lost has not handed you Sawyer and Kate on a plate.

Eliot and Sandra: Are there any spoilers for the two-part season ender for Lost? We just can't wait! Thanks.
Sayid's wife Nadia is back in the finale. Yes, technically she's his tragically murdered wife, but still: whee! We'll also be meeting young Kate, young Tom (Mr. Friendly Kate's friend from Iowa), young Juliet, young Rachel (Juliet's sister) and young Sawyer, and several of those sightings happen because a pivotal figure in the Island mythology wants to check in on our heroes in their youth, a la Richard Alpert's test visit ("Which of these are yours?") to John Locke.

MP: Is that stuff about Skate in season six reliable?
Ummm...not to spoil everybody for everything ever, but based on reading Harry Potter up through Half-Blood Prince, I can reliably tell you that Ron and Hermoine get together in Deadly Hallows. Either that or everybody dies, but Hermoine-Draco? Not ever gonna be canon.

MATT:
I on the other hand have taken a shine to "Suliet," so it is with some glee that I tell you that there will be a bit more idyllic "playing of the house" — as well as a little smooching! — before the action-packed ramp-up to the May 13 season finale. It kind of makes you wonder to whom Kate might turn since Jack, I am hearing, is going to only become more unlikable.

Ryan podcast: finale spoilers
* Ryan says this week was the last week of production on the island, they are done with filming and had a wrap party.
* Starting off this week there was a big shoot at Byodo-In Temple, Kaneohe – it was previously used as Sun's father's big estate – they were filming a flashback for Sun and Jin's giant wedding (Mr Paik's family, kids, grandparents, a lot of extras).
* Later that week they returned to the Police beach at Papailoa – the original beach camp – E.B. from Colorado was on her Lost tour and got to watch a bit of filming but couldn't get very close. She saw most of the Dharma living Losties there – Sayid, Juliet and Miles. A security guard told her Rose and Bernard were there.
* Next shoot – a pedestrian, kind of outdoor street scene with Terry O'Quinn who was all beat up.
* Finally, a tantalizing shoot at a church in Ewa villages - Kanhean and Roxy collected some intel– it was a double funeral, there were two caskets, two hearses – it was the funeral for Sawyer's parents. The key event is who young Sawyer meets there – Jacob.

The Odi: Season 5 Finale Spoilers Clue Solved
As many of you have suspected and speculated, Pellegrino is indeed going to portray the infamous Jacob!!
Also as far as the Astrix clue goes, like all of you suspected, the answer is indeed:
"Young James meets Jacob at his dad's funeral."
As a matter of fact our source went as far to say Sawyer, so it is not another James. Additionally, the scene is a flashback and takes place in a church, so I assume it is an off island scene.

Filming report for 5x16/5x17 - The Incident
'Hi! On my way home today, I came across the Lost crew filming a scene outside Ewa Community church. There were people dressed in their black attire surrounding the backside of a hearse. I was going the opposite direction so I didn't make out who was in that scene. Sorry not that much info.'

Ask Ausiello: Jacob meeting the Losties?
Fact: Dexter alum Mark Pellegrino (he played Rita's abusive ex) has been cast on Lost in a pivotal role, multiple sources confirm to me exclusively.
Unconfirmed scuttlebutt: He's playing Jacob in an off-island, circa-'70s flashback involving some very familiar faces!
Fact: He turns up in the season finale.

# Juliet & Sawyer: Going strong. Season five is Lost's bizarroverse season, and Lost will devote a lot of screen time to the left-field pairing of Suliet through the end of the year.

Ryan Podcast | Summary by Misty
On Friday 13 Lost was filming at the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum at Peart Harbour. It was used previously as the interior of the Galaga, the Dharma Initiative's submarine that the Others take over. On the set were Josh Holloway, Jeremy Davies, Evangeline Lilly and Elizabeth Mitchell. There was also a young girl – in fact it was young Charlotte. There were some other folks there. Kate and Sawyer were in their jumpsuits, but Juliet was wearing her civilian clothes. There were other extras there with name tags we've seen in the background before (Casey, Donna). But the key to the scene, the primary centrepiece of the scene was a fight sequence that leaves Sawyer pretty badly bloodied.

Lost Redux: Welcome, New Recruits!
WHAT'S TO COME
The love polygon lives. Sawyer and Juliet appear to be settled down, domestic and altogether fuzzy-wuzzy, but they have some struggles ahead. And don't forget, as Sawyer announced in season one, "It's about bunnies," and the newly released Geronimo Jackson album cover agrees with him. And you know what bunnies like to do, right?

March 18, 2009
USA TODAY: For the near future 'Lost' will settle in the past
Starting next week, the show returns to its original format, each episode built around a single character with the back story in flashbacks.
The show "becomes a lot more character-centric," Lindelof says. "For those people who were more confused or scratching their heads" at the time-traveling, "it's sort of normalized."
A major focus is the new love triangle of Kate, Sawyer and Juliet. Juliet is living with Sawyer, mysteriously known as LaFleur, Dharma's tan-jumpsuited security chief, in the '70s. "Juliet's aware that Kate's return will cause problems," Cuse says. Yet Jack, who vied with Sawyer for Kate and was engaged to her off the island — still carries a torch.
But Lindelof, conceding viewers were frustrated, likens Lost to coursework: "College gets harder as you go on, and you're now taking Advanced Lost." For those who follow the drama for its rich character entanglements, "all that really matters is that (Sawyer) likes Juliet, Juliet likes him and now Kate is back. But the real hardcore fans want mythology.

March 17, 2009
Matt Mitovich: Will Lost's Juliet Find Herself Betrayed by Sawyer?
TVGuide.com: What went through your mind as you learned of the Juliet-Sawyer love story?
Mitchell:
There's my initial feelings, my middle feelings, and then my feelings now. At first, Josh [Holloway] and I were like, "Nuh-uh! That's never going to work!"
TVGuide.com: But surely you had an inkling they'd go that way, after the storylines got split.
Mitchell:
I think I even said, "I don't think that sounds like a very good idea at all." But then as the season went along, I realized there were these little asides and glances... Both Josh and I were like, "We don't know about this." But luckily — and I mean this very, very sincerely — it became something I'm very happy with. Josh turned to me the other day and said, "Hey, that's pretty good huh?" I said, "Yeah, it kinda works!"
TVGuide.com: Has it been in the back of Juliet's head that Kate could return to the island someday?
Mitchell:
Yeah, I do think it's been there. But I also think that at some point in time, because three years is so long, she actually came to believe that maybe this might work. Maybe that came to her just in the last two months before [Kate, Jack et al] showed up, but for the first time in her life there was a grain of hope. So I think that it's very sad for her.
TVGuide.com: Does any insecurity register on Juliet when she first learns Kate is back?
Mitchell:
I think so. Juliet is torn in a lot of different directions. She's torn that Kate is there, I think she's torn over how Sawyer is going to respond to it.... It's very telling that he doesn't saying anything at first about Kate being there. Juliet's just busy reading him, but of course there must be massive worry about [Kate's return].
TVGuide.com: What are Juliet's priorities now?
Mitchell:
Juliet has a couple of priorities, one of which of course is being in love, and that's figuring quite heavily in the writers' minds. And there's always the thing of, "How do I get my life back? How do I keep my sister and her child safe?" They are in this eye of the storm, this little hiatus, and that's new for her. Good lord, she's working in the motor pool, so she's not even trying to save lives! For the first time in her life, she's quite peaceful and living. Now it's becoming a matter of survival again.

Watch with Kristin spoiler chat: Sawyer is safe
Don in Dallas: Kristin, are they killing off Sawyer on Lost?
Yes, they're killing Sawyer off Lost. Other season finale deaths to expect this year: A depressed McDreamy commits surgical hara-kiri with a scalpel on Grey's Anatomy, Blair uses thallium poison to kill Chuck Bass on Gossip Girl, and Jon Stewart is being written out of The Daily Show With Jon Stewart. (Sorry for the bad joke.) To my own personal knowledge, Josh Holloway is not going anywhere (swear). However, it is possible there is a death I don't know about..

Watch with Kristin Spoiler Chat: Sawyer/Kate & Sawyer/Juliet
Sydney in Hollister, Calif.: Kristin! I need some serious solace! As an avid Skater I've been at a loss for what to think this season. Jack and Kate? Sawyer and Juliet? Please tell me that all will be right in the world again when Sawyer is reunited with his true love, Freckles!
Hoping this will help: In this week's Lost podcast, Josh Holloway talks about his messy love quadrangle on the Island. After conning his way into New Otherton Josh says, "He's actually found a life that is more fulfilling than any of his past adult life, so it's become his reality. The con has become the reality that is a better reality than reality." Were any of you following that? Does this mean Sawyer and Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell) are going to stay together in Dharmaville? Josh adds, "When he jumped out of the helicopter, that was his ultimate sacrifice to love." Loving which one? Hit the comments with your vote: Kate or Juliet.

The Daily Beast: Michael Emerson Interview
Do you think Ben is aware or conscious at all of the whole Kate-Sawyer-Jack-Juliet love quadrangle?
Ben is keenly aware of everything that goes on around him that is of a psychological nature. He’s already made mental notes, made computations, and played out a variety of fictitious scenarios based on that information and [is] seeing how it can be used to good effect. So, yes, we will visit that theme at some point.

Ryan's Podcast | recap by misteriosa
'First, he caught them filming at Manoa Falls on Wedensday – he saw a newer Dharma van. They were working down below the Pradise Park facility where the Orchid station and cages were.
The next two days were even more interesting. He headed out to camp Erdman - Othersville and this time it was all worn out, all torn and dirty. They had reported about the Losties being there in Dharma jumpsuits but this time they are there as if a lot of time has passed since, perhaps this is in future. Now there was a broken down Dharma van. He thought he also saw Claire's house – it's back but still blown up.
Matthew Fox was there, still clean shaven but looking a little more shaggy than usual. He mentions hair growth.
Josh Holloway was also there, as well as some extras with guns – somebody suggested Sawyer was being held captive and Chris watched a scene where Sawyer was taking out one of the cabins and while he's there a little kid comes up and gives him something that loosk like a notebook.'

Entertainment Weekly: Digging Inside Season 5
'And inside a large soundstage, hidden away from prying eyes, Lost's iconic castaways are huddled on a top secret set, trying very hard not to totally spaz out. The action being shot for the year's 12th episode is almost spoilerifically indescribable, but we can report — perhaps to your great relief — that most of the gang is back on the Island after an early sweep of time-travel episodes that kept many of them separated by distance and history. Jack (Matthew Fox) sits tense and terse, dressed as...uh...can't say. Sawyer (Josh Holloway) bursts through a door, freaking out over...someone. Someone who is bleeding. A lot. As Kate (Evangeline Lilly) eyeballs both her men, trying as always to decide between them, psychic hustler Miles Straume (Ken Leung) cradles a shotgun while fretting about — and we think we're getting this right — the catastrophic collapse of the space-time continuum! (Or maybe he said ''the economy.'' Same difference, though, right?)'
[...]
'As for Lindelof and Cuse, they're channeling all their energies squarely onto the Island. ''We feel like the audience will be really clamoring to get back to the Island after these first seven episodes,'' says Lindelof. ''And they'll get a big massive dose of it for pretty much the remainder of the season.'' The next four episodes will tell the story of how exactly the Oceanic 6 get back (and which of them, too), as well as how the Left Behinders on the Island get their crazy quantum merry-go-round to stop spinning before it kills them'
[...]
'Once Oceanic 6 folk are back in the jungle, Lost will begin to shift back to character-centric episodes with off-Island flashbacks/flash-forwards. And episode 12 is a big one for Kate. ''Season 5 is about do they or don't they make it back to the Island, and every character has their reasons,'' explains Lilly. ''This is the episode where we understand the decision Kate has made. There's so much more than meets the eye.'' While Kate comes into focus, Jack will gain strength and start seeking his true destiny — good news for those not fond of Doc Shephard's despairing, hero-resisting, mangy-chin-bush-wearing shame spiral. ''I've always believed part of what was destroying him was his lack of physical proximity to the Island,'' says Fox. ''He is fated to do something on the Island, and he has fought that with every fiber of his body, and in doing that, the Island is destroying him from afar. When he finds himself back in this place, he's wide-eyed and alert. He knows he's in the path of his own destiny.''
Jack's rejuvenation may also involve renewed romance with Kate, though Kate-whipped Sawyer could put up a fight — presuming he hasn't fallen for Juliet. Or someone else: The Island's female hottie population is set to increase later this season with the addition of 24's Reiko Aylesworth and New Amsterdam's Zuleikha Robinson. Despite last year's helicopter kiss-and-whisper between Kate and Sawyer (contents of said whisper will be revealed soon), Lilly believes that the audience is rooting for Kate and Jack. ''But I could be completely wrong!'' she laughs. ''What I've noticed is that the audience tends to root for the coupling that gets the most screen time — and right now, what they're seeing is Kate and Jack.''
[...]
'Lindelof teases that the sci-fi-heavy season 5 (which includes more Smokey, four-toed statue, and numbers intrigue) ''sets up where we need to go in season 6, which will be much more grounded and character-centric than it is this year.''

Lost Redux: Will Sawyer and Juliet Hook Up?
How would you describe the Kate-Sawyer-Jack love triangle storyline this season? Is it given much prominence, or are you pulling away from that a little bit?
Carlton Cuse:
Not at all. I think we're always trying to find the balance between character-based stories and mythology-based stories, and I think it'd be better to categorize it as a quadrangle. Juliet is very much in the middle of that. In fact, Sawyer and Juliet were last seen together on the Island, and Kate and Jack were off the Island, so that's something that is interesting to us and we will explore. It very much is a quadrangle.
Damon Lindelof: What's cool about the show this year is that we're kind of picking up both stories exactly where we left off. On the Island there's been this big flash of light, and Sawyer and Juliet are standing there on the beach having just seen the freighter explode. For those guys, Kate just left on the chopper five minutes ago...[but] for Kate and Jack, they were engaged, they broke up, she went on trial, he got addicted to pills, he grew a horrible beard...

Matt Mitovich interviews Cuse and Lindelof
Here in Episode 1, I ask executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse if the time-tripping remaining castaways are at risk of running into their "younger selves." The answer? "The characters are trying to avoid [that]," says Cuse, "but they may encounter other iterations of themselves."

The Boston Globe: Planning ahead, to the end of 'Lost'
One character moving back to center stage in this penultimate season is Josh Holloway's nickname-bestowing Sawyer, who received less screen time last year as the off-island story of the "Oceanic 6" played out. Lindelof intimated that Sawyer is the right character to serve as a stand-in for audience members confused by the recent turn of events.
"It was important that Sawyer was not a huge fan of the time travel," he said. "You will find him, over the course of the year, constantly bemoaning the fact that this is the situation that he's in."

James "Sawyer" Ford
Where we left him: Sawyer, riding in a damaged helicopter with members of the Oceanic 6, whispered something to Kate and then jumped into the ocean to get rid of enough weight to keep the chopper airborne. He swam back to the island, meeting up with Juliet. "He has lost everything he loved basically or has given it up," Holloway says. "Maybe he feels that something is healed by saving (Kate), that there's some redemption there."
Where he's headed: A shirtless Sawyer joins with Juliet and the freighter folk in trying to figure out what's happening to the island and stop it. As to the wardrobe deficit, "That was an issue I brought up, but they didn't seem to care about my opinion very much. (Eventually) I do get dressed."
On ending after six seasons: "I like the fact we have an end date. I feel the show has become more concise now." Does he know the end? "Hell, no. I wish I knew. I've never been right except when I guessed that the island moves a couple of years ago. That's the only thing I've gotten right in the whole Lost series."
What he did on his summer hiatus: Holloway played Wino, a tattoo artist and stoner, in Stay Cool, a comedy film from the Polish brothers that also stars Chevy Chase, Sean Astin, Hillary Duff and Winona Ryder. "It's fun, because it's such a removal from anything I've done."

Cuse & Lindelof interview with the Chicago Tribune: The 'Lost' brain trust answers burning Season 5 questions

TV Guide scans: LOST's 10 biggest mysteries decoded
- "We don't all succeed" in getting back to the island, teases Yunjin Kim, whose character, Sun, "takes matter into her own hands" in her quest to avenge the death of husband Jin.
- By February, one character (besides the coffin-inhabiting Locke) will be dead. And someone presumed dead will reapper.
- This season tweaks the flash-forward and flashback formula, but time will continue to play an almost adversarial role in the characters' attempts to free themselves from the island's grasp. "I have no idea where I'm at or what I'm doing," says Josh Holloway (Sawyer), speaking from home after weathering a rainy-night shoot that lasted until 3 a.m.
- Blame all this time traveling on Lindelof, who identifies himself as an expert on the subject. "If it relates to any kind of time travel, I've read it or seen it or studied it," he says, explaining that Lost's time travel differs from how the device is employed on NBC's Heroes, where good and bad incarnations of the same character routinely interact to alter future events. "Those are things we are very disinclined to do," maintains Cuse. Still, says Kim, viewers will find out later this season that certain characters "change something in the past, which is a huge turn in the story line."
- The producers plan to delve more deeply into the island's earlier residents. "We're really interested this season in showing more of the history of the island's inhabitants," says Cuse. Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet) says her character comes in contact with ruin's of the island's ancient civilization, while Holloway says "a whole new crew of people with a connection to the Dharma Initiative are introduced" - one of whom may be Sawyer's new love interest. Additionally, Emerson says, "We discover there are people Ben fears and to whom he must answer."
- "Just two nights ago, I was doing a scene on a patio with Josh Holloway," Lilly spills. "When Kate first sees Sawyer, there's almost a feeling of seeing a ghost. I really believe she thought he was dead."
- "Locke and his relationship to the island is very central to the fifth season," teases Lindelof.
- Lindelof: "We will learn the whole nature of why the Swan hatch exists."
- A greater understanding of the monster will come this season.
- The statue will make a reappearance, but the big questions - Why four toes? Who built it? - will have to wait for Season 6.
- The consequences of incorrectly entering or exiting the island will play a crucial role as the Oceanic Six attempt their return. Midway through the season, we will learn the island pulled off one doozy of a masquerade.
- Locke's faith will continue to be tested by the island and/or Jacob - likely with "great personal sacrifice," says Cuse. The question - What does the island ultimately want with Locke? - won't be answered until Season 6.

freep.com: Disappointing fall TV fades as 3 blockbusters return
Expect a lot of interesting things to happen sooner rather than later. But "Lost" is a character-driven journey, too, so there'll be plenty of focus on the romantic quadrangle of Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Juliet.
Speaking of sardonic hunk Sawyer, will he get the screen time he deserves? "We really feel it's the year of Sawyer," says Lindelof. "He's really stepping up in a major way."

Carlton Cuse Interview from China TV/Film Forum (2 clips)
LOST writer Carlton Cuse, along with Ugly Betty writer were a part of a TV and Film Forum in China to discuss their shows and answer some questions about the industry.
- Sawyer is his favorite: Handsome, charming and dangerous, everything he would want to be.
- He gives a shout out to Skaters and Jaters and then mentions that we call them Darlton. Kate will end up with one of the two eventually.
- Production starts in August and Season 5 will air from January to May 2009.

I'm not ready for a courtroom drama, I like the jungle. I like being dirty and sweaty and all messed up'", he says. "And the island is still one of the major characters in the show, and I'm on the island, so I'm with the big guy."'

A.V. Club interview with Lindelof and Cuse

February 24, 2008
The New York Post: 10 reasons why 'Lost' is found
2. We learn Jack's fate: The finale introduced the flash forward and showed us Jack's (Matthew Fox) slide into alcoholism when he leaves the island. "The flash forward is part of an overall plan for the show," says Damon Lindelof, co-executive producer. "Season 4 is about who gets off the island and the fact that they need to get back. Season 5 is about why they need to get back, and season 6 is about what happens when they get back."
3. We know who survives: Season four introduced six survivors: Jack (Matthew Fox); Kate (Evangeline Lilly); Hurley (Jorge Garcia), and Sayid (Naveen Andrews). This "Oceanic 6" make it off the island, but one will die - exactly who will be revealed this season. "We've made a choice to focus on the characters that fans have loved since the beginning - Jack, Kate, Sawyer (Josh Holloway), Locke (Terry O'Quinn), Sayid and Hurley," says Lindelof.

February 20, 2008
From EW: Jeff Jensen interview with Lindelof and Cuse
- Adam and Eve, the skeletons, will be adressed but not this season;
- The larger mythos, like "The Purge", will come back in season 5;
- NO to alternative realities, because they want the audience to invest in the story and the characters and what happens to them - that doesn't exclude time travel and bending of the space/time continuum though;
- the mystery of Ben's list is linked to the wreckage seen at the bottom of the ocean.

Thanks!

Faraday's death, Jacob at the Jun wedding, Ben's "difficult task" mentioned in the press release... I think the only new stuff is related to Hanso.
And I think I need to head over Lostpedia to brush up my knowledge on that.

Also... what's "a onk"? *fails at English*

I'm on Lostpedia reading stuff about Alvar Hanso and the Hanso Foundation and I don't remember a thing. Plus the entries include info revealed in "The Lost Experience" game.
Oh man. Mythology, you'll be the death of me.

I'm really not counting on E! to have anything in their spoiler chat tonight, I just wonder if TV Guide will have any Lost feature.

I was hoping they could have something since they apparently talked to Terry, ME and Damon. But maybe they just had short phone interviews.

Jennifer has mostly been answering death related questions in her recent chats. Or things we already knew.

The last time we heard about Hanso was when Charles bought the Black Rock's journal, right?

E! online has been using the same two spoilers in different variations at least three times now. The death, how it originates from a series of mistakes, and I believe the Skate stuff is linked to that too - but for now I'll consider it a different thing.

I'm waiting for the insight on the finale feature promised by Matty.

I thought again about that rumor too, but would it really change things too much? They aren't going to do a show with the old version of the Losties, they would always have to show their old selves in the future and then tell us via FB how to get there.
Only this time the time jump would be huge.

I don't know what else they could do. They've had characters jump a few years forward and a few years back. We saw the island disappear. Groups have been divided several times now. We've had deaths. What's there left to do?

I thought about Losties finding themselves on the beach right after the crash again - where and when it all started. But I see no point in that. Plus, too many original Losties have died since and they couldn't all reappear.

I also doubt Jack will manage to undo everything that has happened and that we'll see all the Losties land safely in LA. It goes against the 'whatever happened, happened rule' which is still valid imo. Again, too many Oceanic characters have been killed off so it would be difficult to have them on again. And we need to see the 1977 and 2007 groups reunite before the big cliffhanger - they can't have Sun and Jin not see each other this season on the island.

Seeing them old should hit us visually. Unlike with the FF or Dharmatime, the characters would actually look very different. But that's also a big reason against it happening imo.

You're right about the visual impact of it, but the same can be said about Aaron and Ji-Yeon as adults, for instance, even if it would be less shocking because they're just guest star characters.
But the core of the twist would be the same of the S3 finale or of the S4 one, because you can get there only via time jump or time traveling. And unless you keep the main focus on the old versions of the characters, there is nothing revolutionary in the twist imo.

Sometimes I think the fork in the outlet could have to do with managing to alter something in the past or the future, for real. Jack wouldn't be able to do it, but maybe Desmond could if he is *really* special. That's also linked to the fact that I have no idea how he'll come back in the finale through "normal" ways.
Still, such a thing goes against all their "rules" talk of this season, *if* it ever happens I would put in Season 6, not before.

Still, such a thing goes against all their "rules" talk of this season, *if* it ever happens I would put in Season 6, not before.
Desmond is the variable and he hasn't done much this season so to have him involved in or even cause the big cliffhanger makes sense to me.

I've decided not to watch the clips this time and wait for the episode. But I saw the descriptions of these scenes and Richard saying he saw the Losties all die could just mean that Jack carries out his plan. Only they won't dies, they'll go back to 2007. Richard might think they resurrected.

ETA: LOST Spoilers: Episode 5.15 - Follow the Leader - Sneak Peek No. 6

I don't think Sawyer would ever give up Kate's location or do the same if the situation involved any other Lostie. But the way this season has been written and what I believeing they are doing with the triangle, makes me think he'll tell them where Kate is. Juliet could take that as a reassurance about Sawyer's feelings and even as an answer to her 'got my back?' question that was left hanging last week. That's also when she might say ILY.
