- TV Guide: Interview with Reiko Aylesworth
TVGuide.com: Might the castaways not want Amy to give birth to this special person?
Aylesworth: They don't know at this point who... well, what the stakes are. My character really draws them into a new world, I will say that. That's mainly what she is for, taking them to that point where they have to decide [about interfering].
TVGuide.com: This week is a Sawyer-centric episode. How so?
Aylesworth: Most of my interaction is with Sawyer. Throughout the episode, all the characters at this point in time debate about whether to interfere with the past or not — and what the consequences might be.
TVGuide.com: Josh Holloway is clean-shaven in these new episodes. Does Sawyer clean up upon seeing pretty Amy?
Aylesworth: Ha! Um, OK, that's a loaded question. No... It's something a little more unexpected. This episode's really exciting because it takes many unexpected turns. The end of this episode is really cool. [I say that] just having read it; I don't know how they filmed it.
TVGuide.com: Does the ending involve the hooded woman Sawyer uncovers in the promo?
Aylesworth: No, that's not at the end. There are so many reveals in this. This episode opens up many cans of worms. [The hooded woman] leads into the whole shift in the storyline. But then the end is very cool, too. It widens the scope of the show even more, which is hard to believe! It's game-changing.
TVGuide.com: Team Carlton told me that an "interesting" romance is on the horizon for two island characters. Could Amy be one of them?
Aylesworth: Hmm... Actually, there's a very interesting romance. I think I'm kind of a red herring when it comes to that, though. I do work mostly with Josh and Elizabeth [Mitchell, Juliet].
TVGuide.com: We have you for four episodes?
Aylesworth: So far. That I know of.
TVGuide.com: Have you shot the fourth?
Aylesworth: I have not.

- MSN: Evangeline Lilly interview
The preview for the next episode of Lost has alluded to the long-awaited reunion of Kate and Sawyer (Josh Holloway), and Lilly dished on how she hoped it would go down, and what did indeed happen.
“For Evangeline, it was great fun because it’s been a long time since I worked with Josh, and it was great to have that reunion,” she reveals. “I was also nervous that they would write something that would undermine Kate’s character.
“The notion that she might come back to the island and start things up with Sawyer again after three years of being involved with Jack, I was very nervous that that would happen and warrant having to justify that. Because I’m the one who has to make that believable, and if you don’t believe it, then it’s hard to make other people believe it. But they didn’t do that.”
Lilly adds, “It’s a very intense thing for both of them; I don’t think Kate realized he was even alive still. The last time she saw him, he had jumped out of a helicopter, was swimming in an ocean, to an island that, minutes later, disappeared.
“So for all intents and purposes, Kate thinks he’s dead. She really is holding out a little measure of hope that he’s alive, but the skeptic and the realist within her is saying he’s dead. So to see him again, more than being intense and romantic, it’s just intense and shocking.”

'Not a fan of time jumps? Too bad: The story line will continue, but with a pause in one decade. Still, Elizabeth Mitchell teases that there is a surprise in store for fans who tune in for romance over adventure. "One of Juliet's friendships gets particularly sweet," she says. Could that friend be sawyer? Perhaps.
Josh Holloway says that we'll see his bad boy mature and take on the role of the respected leader. "He's always going to be a bastard, but there's some substance to him," says Holloway, adding that this new take-charge role will pit him against the objectives of the returning Oceanic Six and, especially, against Jack. "It's all coming to a head".'

Sawyer to the 70s?! I'm told Josh Holloway may be sporting some serious muttonchops soon because he'll be stuck in a different decade (the era of Geronimo Jackson, bell bottoms and disco). Word is, he'll be away from most of the other Losties. And get this—according to my ABC source, he'll be there for years!
This can't be good news for you fans of Kate and Sawyer, right?
Though I am hearing he will have one friend with him. Guesses?

- TV Guide: Inside Scoop on Emotional Reunions, Michael and More
Mitovich: Who's going to have the most emotional reunion?
C. Cuse:
That's kind of a trap, a tricky question isn't it? (Lindelof: Yeah...) I would say that its very emotional though, the whole thing is very emotional, the whole season is is, we're trying to always do this balance between the romantic quadrangle... the personal character stories... and our mythology, and we feel there is elements for both. There's time travel for the hardcore mythology fans, Sawyer has his shirt off for those that don't care about that.
D. Lindelof: I think you're trying to trap us into saying that all of members of the Oceanic 6 do get back to the island and that's not entirely the case.

February 10, 2009
- TV Guide scans: Young Ben meeting the Losties

- The Daily Beast: Michael Emerson Interview
Do you think Ben is aware or conscious at all of the whole Kate-Sawyer-Jack-Juliet love quadrangle?
Ben is keenly aware of everything that goes on around him that is of a psychological nature. He’s already made mental notes, made computations, and played out a variety of fictitious scenarios based on that information and [is] seeing how it can be used to good effect. So, yes, we will visit that theme at some point.

- The Daily Beast: Elizabeth Mitchell Interview
How much scheming and anger is going on under the surface?
Everything [on the island] has gone horribly wrong and the only way to handle it is just to stay calm and figure out what to do next. She is very much subdued but still insanely angry and hurt and broken. I think Juliet has always believed in passionless, blood full violence. [This season] she is at the center of some violence, which is nice. We get to see the stuff that’s underneath her this season, bubbling away, and it’s not particularly pretty or easy to watch. For some people that will be a nice payoff, but others might want her to stay cool.
Is there a future for Juliet and Sawyer?
I think since they’re both broken-hearted it’s possible it could go somewhere. There’s an expression, “What doesn’t bring people together is joy, but shared pain.” That’s what bonds people together. I definitely believe they will create some sort of partnership and we’ll see where it goes from there.
Are any upcoming episodes particularly Juliet-centric?
I think episode 8 (LeFleur) is particularly heavy for me, and there will be some twists and turns that make you go, “Oh, good lord!”

'First, he caught them filming at Manoa Falls on Wedensday – he saw a newer Dharma van. They were working down below the Pradise Park facility where the Orchid station and cages were.
The next two days were even more interesting. He headed out to camp Erdman - Othersville and this time it was all worn out, all torn and dirty. They had reported about the Losties being there in Dharma jumpsuits but this time they are there as if a lot of time has passed since, perhaps this is in future. Now there was a broken down Dharma van. He thought he also saw Claire's house – it's back but still blown up.
Matthew Fox was there, still clean shaven but looking a little more shaggy than usual. He mentions hair growth.
Josh Holloway was also there, as well as some extras with guns – somebody suggested Sawyer was being held captive and Chris watched a scene where Sawyer was taking out one of the cabins and while he's there a little kid comes up and gives him something that loosk like a notebook.'

- Mitovich interviews D&C: A new romance?
'Damon and Carlton say a very interesting romantic pairing that they think the audience will find very engaging. It's coming up not too far down the line. They confirm it will involve one of the three, Jack, Kate or Sawyer.'

- Entertainment Weekly: Digging Inside Season 5
'And inside a large soundstage, hidden away from prying eyes, Lost's iconic castaways are huddled on a top secret set, trying very hard not to totally spaz out. The action being shot for the year's 12th episode is almost spoilerifically indescribable, but we can report — perhaps to your great relief — that most of the gang is back on the Island after an early sweep of time-travel episodes that kept many of them separated by distance and history. Jack (Matthew Fox) sits tense and terse, dressed as...uh...can't say. Sawyer (Josh Holloway) bursts through a door, freaking out over...someone. Someone who is bleeding. A lot. As Kate (Evangeline Lilly) eyeballs both her men, trying as always to decide between them, psychic hustler Miles Straume (Ken Leung) cradles a shotgun while fretting about — and we think we're getting this right — the catastrophic collapse of the space-time continuum! (Or maybe he said ''the economy.'' Same difference, though, right?)'
[...]
'As for Lindelof and Cuse, they're channeling all their energies squarely onto the Island. ''We feel like the audience will be really clamoring to get back to the Island after these first seven episodes,'' says Lindelof. ''And they'll get a big massive dose of it for pretty much the remainder of the season.'' The next four episodes will tell the story of how exactly the Oceanic 6 get back (and which of them, too), as well as how the Left Behinders on the Island get their crazy quantum merry-go-round to stop spinning before it kills them'
[...]
'Once Oceanic 6 folk are back in the jungle, Lost will begin to shift back to character-centric episodes with off-Island flashbacks/flash-forwards. And episode 12 is a big one for Kate. ''Season 5 is about do they or don't they make it back to the Island, and every character has their reasons,'' explains Lilly. ''This is the episode where we understand the decision Kate has made. There's so much more than meets the eye.'' While Kate comes into focus, Jack will gain strength and start seeking his true destiny — good news for those not fond of Doc Shephard's despairing, hero-resisting, mangy-chin-bush-wearing shame spiral. ''I've always believed part of what was destroying him was his lack of physical proximity to the Island,'' says Fox. ''He is fated to do something on the Island, and he has fought that with every fiber of his body, and in doing that, the Island is destroying him from afar. When he finds himself back in this place, he's wide-eyed and alert. He knows he's in the path of his own destiny.''
Jack's rejuvenation may also involve renewed romance with Kate, though Kate-whipped Sawyer could put up a fight — presuming he hasn't fallen for Juliet. Or someone else: The Island's female hottie population is set to increase later this season with the addition of 24's Reiko Aylesworth and New Amsterdam's Zuleikha Robinson. Despite last year's helicopter kiss-and-whisper between Kate and Sawyer (contents of said whisper will be revealed soon), Lilly believes that the audience is rooting for Kate and Jack. ''But I could be completely wrong!'' she laughs. ''What I've noticed is that the audience tends to root for the coupling that gets the most screen time — and right now, what they're seeing is Kate and Jack.''
[...]
'Lindelof teases that the sci-fi-heavy season 5 (which includes more Smokey, four-toed statue, and numbers intrigue) ''sets up where we need to go in season 6, which will be much more grounded and character-centric than it is this year.''

- TV Guide scans: Sawyer/Juliet
"We're so happy working together," reports Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet). "Before this season I hadn't spent a tremendous amount of time with Josh [Holloway], and now I've been able to. Poor Sawyer has been such under duress this season - really bad things are going to happen," she adds, "but soon you're going to get to see Sawyer have a really good time, which has been fun to shoot." Hmmmm...might the two be hooking up for some hot jungle lovemakin'? "I can't answer that," Mitchell says with a laugh. But she does confirm that Juliet will definitely be getting down and dirty with someone: "It's more than I anticipated, that's for sure!"

- Watch with Kristin: Sawyer/Kate angst
Jules in Waltham, Mass.: This isn't really a question, just something I'd like to share. The recent spate of Sawyer/Juliet spoilers have all but killed my interest in Lost. If you've got anything positive to share with Sawyer/Kate fans, now's the time, because it's really starting to look like a lost cause.
Don't give up hope yet, at least not before you see this promo where Sawyer announces that he's seen Kate in the jungle. Lots of good Skate angst is coming, I promise.

- Evangeline Lilly: Will Kate and Sawyer be an item again on 'Lost'? | video
If you thought the tortured tropical romance between Sawyer and Kate was over, you might be surprised by a future episode of "Lost," according to Evangeline Lilly, who stars as Kate on the ABC thriller.
"There is a reunion of sorts" awaiting the pair, says Lilly. Never mind that Kate seems to have escaped that mystical island while Sawyer, the handsome rogue played by Josh Holloway, was staying put.
Lilly calls their future encounter "very laced and complicated and simple." But she's careful not to spill any further details.

- Lost Redux: Will Sawyer and Juliet Hook Up?
How would you describe the Kate-Sawyer-Jack love triangle storyline this season? Is it given much prominence, or are you pulling away from that a little bit?
Carlton Cuse:
Not at all. I think we're always trying to find the balance between character-based stories and mythology-based stories, and I think it'd be better to categorize it as a quadrangle. Juliet is very much in the middle of that. In fact, Sawyer and Juliet were last seen together on the Island, and Kate and Jack were off the Island, so that's something that is interesting to us and we will explore. It very much is a quadrangle.
Damon Lindelof: What's cool about the show this year is that we're kind of picking up both stories exactly where we left off. On the Island there's been this big flash of light, and Sawyer and Juliet are standing there on the beach having just seen the freighter explode. For those guys, Kate just left on the chopper five minutes ago...[but] for Kate and Jack, they were engaged, they broke up, she went on trial, he got addicted to pills, he grew a horrible beard...

The Boston Globe: Planning ahead, to the end of 'Lost'
One character moving back to center stage in this penultimate season is Josh Holloway's nickname-bestowing Sawyer, who received less screen time last year as the off-island story of the "Oceanic 6" played out. Lindelof intimated that Sawyer is the right character to serve as a stand-in for audience members confused by the recent turn of events.
"It was important that Sawyer was not a huge fan of the time travel," he said. "You will find him, over the course of the year, constantly bemoaning the fact that this is the situation that he's in."

- New York Magazine: Elizabeth Mitchell on Juliet and Sawyer and the New Season of Lost
What’s going to happen this season?
There’s a tremendous amount of danger, for me and all of the people left on the island. It is a continual struggle, and it makes for some kind of bizarre and possibly intriguing alliances. I would never have put Juliet and Sawyer in the same room together, but I think it’s very exciting and fun that they are [now] because she always seemed to be fairly impervious to his charm and he seemed to be impervious to her machinations. That should bring some lovely sarcasm.

Where we left him: Sawyer, riding in a damaged helicopter with members of the Oceanic 6, whispered something to Kate and then jumped into the ocean to get rid of enough weight to keep the chopper airborne. He swam back to the island, meeting up with Juliet. "He has lost everything he loved basically or has given it up," Holloway says. "Maybe he feels that something is healed by saving (Kate), that there's some redemption there."
Where he's headed: A shirtless Sawyer joins with Juliet and the freighter folk in trying to figure out what's happening to the island and stop it. As to the wardrobe deficit, "That was an issue I brought up, but they didn't seem to care about my opinion very much. (Eventually) I do get dressed."
On ending after six seasons: "I like the fact we have an end date. I feel the show has become more concise now." Does he know the end? "Hell, no. I wish I knew. I've never been right except when I guessed that the island moves a couple of years ago. That's the only thing I've gotten right in the whole Lost series."
What he did on his summer hiatus: Holloway played Wino, a tattoo artist and stoner, in Stay Cool, a comedy film from the Polish brothers that also stars Chevy Chase, Sean Astin, Hillary Duff and Winona Ryder. "It's fun, because it's such a removal from anything I've done."

- Cuse & Lindelof interview with the Chicago Tribune: The 'Lost' brain trust answers burning Season 5 questions

- TV Guide scans: LOST's 10 biggest mysteries decoded
- "We don't all succeed" in getting back to the island, teases Yunjin Kim, whose character, Sun, "takes matter into her own hands" in her quest to avenge the death of husband Jin.
- By February, one character (besides the coffin-inhabiting Locke) will be dead. And someone presumed dead will reapper.
- This season tweaks the flash-forward and flashback formula, but time will continue to play an almost adversarial role in the characters' attempts to free themselves from the island's grasp. "I have no idea where I'm at or what I'm doing," says Josh Holloway (Sawyer), speaking from home after weathering a rainy-night shoot that lasted until 3 a.m.
- Blame all this time traveling on Lindelof, who identifies himself as an expert on the subject. "If it relates to any kind of time travel, I've read it or seen it or studied it," he says, explaining that Lost's time travel differs from how the device is employed on NBC's Heroes, where good and bad incarnations of the same character routinely interact to alter future events. "Those are things we are very disinclined to do," maintains Cuse. Still, says Kim, viewers will find out later this season that certain characters "change something in the past, which is a huge turn in the story line."
- The producers plan to delve more deeply into the island's earlier residents. "We're really interested this season in showing more of the history of the island's inhabitants," says Cuse. Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet) says her character comes in contact with ruin's of the island's ancient civilization, while Holloway says "a whole new crew of people with a connection to the Dharma Initiative are introduced" - one of whom may be Sawyer's new love interest. Additionally, Emerson says, "We discover there are people Ben fears and to whom he must answer."
- "Just two nights ago, I was doing a scene on a patio with Josh Holloway," Lilly spills. "When Kate first sees Sawyer, there's almost a feeling of seeing a ghost. I really believe she thought he was dead."
- "Locke and his relationship to the island is very central to the fifth season," teases Lindelof.
- Lindelof: "We will learn the whole nature of why the Swan hatch exists."
- A greater understanding of the monster will come this season.
- The statue will make a reappearance, but the big questions - Why four toes? Who built it? - will have to wait for Season 6.
- The consequences of incorrectly entering or exiting the island will play a crucial role as the Oceanic Six attempt their return. Midway through the season, we will learn the island pulled off one doozy of a masquerade.
- Locke's faith will continue to be tested by the island and/or Jacob - likely with "great personal sacrifice," says Cuse. The question - What does the island ultimately want with Locke? - won't be answered until Season 6.

Expect a lot of interesting things to happen sooner rather than later. But "Lost" is a character-driven journey, too, so there'll be plenty of focus on the romantic quadrangle of Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Juliet.
Speaking of sardonic hunk Sawyer, will he get the screen time he deserves? "We really feel it's the year of Sawyer," says Lindelof. "He's really stepping up in a major way."

So what did happen to the castaways--including Sawyer (Josh Holloway)--when the island disappeared in the finale? A time warp. And it's perilous. "They're the opposite of safe," says Lindelof.
"It's not all bleakness," coexec producer Carlton Cuse tells Us. "We have romance!" Yes, the quadrangle of Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell) continues. "Kate and Jack are picking up their pieces, but she still pines for Sawyer," says Lindelof, adding, "Sawyer can only wait for so long."

- From Skiflier @ The Fuselage:
'I'm in Honolulu, on my way back home from a day on 'Lost Beach' and Othersville (YMCA Camp Erdman) on the north side of Oahu - Haleiwa. My wife and I had heard & read about filming going on, so we went up to check it out. We did not personally see anything at those two sites, but locals we spoke with said that filming was going on at the marina and that security was tight.
The pics we got from Lost Beach and Othersville are great - and we found a possible Lost Relic near Kaena Point - a HUGE octagonal slab of concrete that was upright on the beach. I'll post up pics on Tues when we get home.'

- From Ryan: More sightings + photos
This past week was definitely a good week to be a “LOST” fan vacationing in Hawaii. The Othersville set report from Grant was only the beginning. Less than a day later, I heard from Crista, who stopped by Camp Erdman as well. There was no filming taking place, but that allowed her to take a leisurely stroll among the cabins.
“We were there last in March, and I didn’t expect to see the difference in the camp, but it was like a whole new place. We saw some amazing things, like the freshly painted new Dharma van and Jeep, and what looked like a vehicle servicing center with a huge gas tank with a new Dharma logo on it (one with a wrench in the center). Also, the houses were all freshly painted, the swing sets were repaired and repainted (no rusty chains), there were new plants and flowers, etc. Also, the hall where they kept Kate prisoner briefly has been redone again too, and there was a sign up that said “Processing Center.” There were a ton of props inside. The latest year on the Dharma new recruit photos was 1976. And tied up out back was a very adorable yellow lab. I can’t say for certain that he was Vincent, but he looked just like him (pale yellow, almost white).”
Yet another fan, Sarah, made her way to Othersville, and sent in this report:
“Today I had an opportunity to drive out to Othersville and found the Lost crew shooting a scene at the very end of the road. They had the Dharma bus perched on a cliff towards the ocean with Hurley in the driver seat. Sawyer was in a Dharma jumpsuit and Jack was wearing a button down shirt and tie. Kate was there too. Apparently, Carlton and Damon were there too. It was so exciting to see Lost in the making up close and personal!”
Finally, as a perfect close to a busy week, Grant from Edmonton once again caught a glimpse of “LOST” at work yesterday at Kawela Bay:
“There was nothing to be seen on the beach itself (though it is an incredibly beautiful setting), so we carried on following some horse riding trails from Turtle Bay until we came across several equipment trucks. We passed what must have been a prop on the ground about the size of a rowboat… but it was covered by a tarp and I was too polite to take a peek. A little further down the road, we could see a couple of crew preparing a set. They were uncovering a structure made of wood poles in the shape of a teepee. About 20 feet tall and without any covering whatever, just the wooden poles. A few yards past that was a Dharma VW van.”
Finally, for dessert, a two-word spoiler from our latest “LOST” podcast, posted yesterday: Young Charlotte. Her search for her birthplace was pretty clearly telegraphed at the end of Season 4, and it looks like we’ll get a glimpse of her childhood next year.

- io9.com: More details about the Losties in Dharma jumpsuits
'I live on the North Shore, where they shoot Lost. On a hike today near the ocean I saw a scene with Hurley standing around in dark clothes while a blue and white VW bus came buzzing up and stopped by him. An hour later when I was on my way back, I saw that Sawyer (i'm pretty sure) had joined the scene. There were two or three extra blue and white VWs on standby out of scene and the one I saw up close had the Dharma logo on its front.'

- From Ryan: "Lost" in Dharma + photos + more photos
Visiting fan Grant from Edmonton and his wife were able to catch them hard at work yesterday at Camp Erdman — otherwise known as Othersville — on the North Shore. Polite and discreet Canadians that they were, they just quietly watched from afar as the cast and crew broke for lunch. [...]
They weren’t able to get close to the set, but the close encounter with the cast definitely made their day. Grant did, however, take note of a few curious facts during his visit:
• There were six main characters present. In addition to Kate, they saw Jack (Matthew Fox), Hurley (Jorge Garcia), Sayid (Naveen Andrews), Sawyer (Josh Holloway) and Jin (Daniel Dae Kim). Those last two names are particularly interesting to see.
• Sayid appeared to be wearing civilian clothes. Kate appeared to be wearing a dark blue jumpsuit. The rest — Jack, Hurley, Sawyer and Jin — were all wearing what appeared to be the DHARMA Intiative’s familiar tan jumpsuits.
• There were also more than a dozen other actors, including a few children in DHARMA tan jumpsuits, skirts and shorts.
• At least four new looking DHARMA Volkswagen vans, one Jeep, and a few blue bicycles scattered among the cabins.
• The left edge of a banner that began with the word “NEW.”

- Roundtable with Lindelof & Cuse: DocArzt report | M&C report
Are we ever going to get back-stories for Rousseau, Libby, and/or Walt or does that now fall by the wayside with only thirty-four episodes left?
Carlton Cuse:
Let's just say you will get more information about Rousseau and Walt at least. We can't comment about who will or won’t get full-on flashbacks. Obviously as the story moves forward we'll be answering questions at a faster rate. But some stories -- like Libby's -- we feel are pretty much finished.

Will there still be flashbacks and flash forwards next season?
Cartlon Cuse:
Yes, there will still be flashbacks and flashforwards but we are not limiting ourselves to those ways of transitioning between stories. We still love doing them and will when appropriate. There are still some cool flashbacks left to tell for our characters.

There is a lot of concern amongst fans over how the show will work without the chemistry of the full ensemble. Is that separation something you will address in season 5, or is that more part of the remaining two seasons of story?
Damon Lindelof:
We're concerned, too! I think everyone, writers and fans alike, feels the show is at its best when our characters are together... but the fact of the matter is that the story is constantly twisting and turning to keep them apart.
Let's face it -- Absence makes the heart grow fonder... but there's nothing sweeter than a reunion. All we're willing to say at this point is that if we were to spend the ENTIRE duration of Season Five with the Oceanic Six trying to get back to the island, we are fully aware that the audience would strangle us.

- Blog report from a girl who worked as an extra on Nov. 17 and 18
'For those of you who didn't know, I got to be an extra for LOST on Monday and Tuesday. I was officially cast as "Mom on Swing." This role required me push an 8 year old girl on a swing then stand by a fence and pretend to talk to a "Dharmite", and as soon as a siren went off, I ran to my "daughter", picked her up, and ran into a house. I also walked down a sidewalk right past Sawyer. I got to wear clothes from the 70s. I had to sign a confidentiality paper, so I don't give away the plot, so that's all I'll say. The girl that played my daughter was absolutely adorable. I attempted to teach her how to juggle when we were waiting to be filmed. She made me take a picture with her because she said I was going to be famous and she wanted to make sure she got a picture before it would be too difficult to. I hope that was a sign. I was working til about 4 AM and it was nice and rainy and freezing.
On Tuesday, I was a "Dharmite", as you can see in this picture. I looked like a girl scout. The director even walked over and told me that it looked like I should be selling cookies. While I was waiting to be called to set, I was sitting at a picnic table with a few other background actors. Sawyer had a break, so he walked over to the picnic table and picked up a guitar and started singing the blues to me. Okay...he was probably singing to all of us, but he kept looking at me. It was crazy. Speaking of being so close to the actors, I had hair and makeup sitting between the girl who plays Juliet (Elizabeth Marshall) and the asian guy (Daniel Dae Kim). They were really nice and talked to me. Juliet didnt seem like she would be very nice other than the fact that she felt she had to because her costar was. She is one of those people who always makes a pouty face in attempt to always look super attractive, unfortunately it just makes her look like Renee Zellwegger with extra lip collagen.'

Mega Scoop by Matt Mitovich: Jack & Juliet; S5
I know Skaters and Jaters are asking about their Lost couples, but please don't ignore us Jacketeers! Is there hope for a Jack-Juliet reunion? – Tamuna
Matt:
Hope? Sure. It's just a matter of where (back on the island, I can only assume) and when (perhaps as early as this coming season, at least one source tells me). And for those fretting about Elizabeth Mitchell's future with the show, I am assured that Juliet figures very heavily into Season 5. Me, I see her and Sawyer (wet and shirtless or even dry and clothed) taking charge as Locke and his band of worshippers move forth with whatever cockamamy plan they have in mind.

- BBC News: TV's Lost audience 'will be lost'

- Watch with Kristin spoiler chat: Sawyer&Kate; S5 structure
Wendy in Singapore: Kristin, thank you for all the Comic-Con reporting. Do you have any other Lost stuff? Especially about Kate seeing Sawyer again?
Actually, I just heard from a reliable source what the new nonflash story structure is supposed to be for season five, and here's what I can tell you:
1. What my source told me seems to jibe perfectly with everything we've heard straight from the mouths of Damon and Carlton at TCA and Comic-Con
2. It could be incredibly confusing
3. Think about the Jin and Sun episode from last season.
In particular, this new story structure (which we'll discuss more as it gets closer to the new season) seems to ease my biggest fear about season five: separated characters and character groups. So before the secret gets out and everyone starts bitching about the confusing part, I'd like to say thanks, writers, for listening to us fans about wanting to see our faves continue to share adventures. Cheers.

Damon & Carlton interview for G4 TV
The prodicers say S5 will be a lot different from S4; they have "new tricks in their bag"; both the Island and the outside world will still be part of the show; their main fear for Lost is to get boring and stalling; so they hope to keep the "aggressive storytelling" high; the big question after the end of S4 is, with the Island disappearing, where is the Island and when is the island, hopefully those are the things that will keep the audience engaged; knowing the end date of the series allows them to be always sure of the pace they're keeping.

Q: When the hatch imploded and the sky turned purple? Did the Island move then?
A: No. But something happened.

Q: Will there be a Rousseau flashback?
A: We will see Rousseau's story, to use the word flashback might be disingenious. Damon: We're steering away from the flashes.

Q: Will Kate ever see Sawyer again?
DL: Not if Jack has anything to say about it. CC: Yes. Kate will see Sawyer again.

Q: Is there a limit to how far the flashes can go back and forth in time?
A: We're going to tell stories in a new and exciting way. This year, when season five starts, you're not going to know when and where you are. CC: There will be storytelling both on and off the Island and in different periods of time. Guy who makes wooshing sound will remain employed.

'Damon and Carlton also were asked about diversity issues, with an implied reference to Harold Perrineau's speculation about how race might have played a role Michael's death, and Damon said, "The show has to be an equal-opportunity murderer...We've killed a lot of white people. And I can almost guarantee we will be killing more white people this season."
When pressed on their plan for season five of Lost, Damon said, "This is a tricky year for us. This is like The Two Towers [portion of The Lord of the Rings saga]...it links us to the final season...We've known a lot of what we want to do there [in the final season] for a long time, but the challenge is how do we make this season engaging and exciting. Watch with Kristin - Lost Finale: Did You Still Have Some Questions or Something?

Mike in Hermosa Beach, Calif.: I have one question that I can't seem to find an answer to. And it's probably meant to be that we didn't hear, but what the hell did Sawyer whisper to Kate before he jumped?
Survey says: I've checked with my sources, and also a rep for the show, and have been told that the writers are "saving that secret for later on." According to one insider who works on the show, that line (what Sawyer said) wasn't even in the script. I wouldn't put too much stock into the gazillion daughter-in-Alabama (or possibly Albuquerque) "What Sawyer Said" videos currently playing on YouTube, some of which claim to have official and complete subtitles. Bottom line: Only Damon and Carlton know the whole truth, so I'm staying cautiously skeptical for the time being. If anyone sees them at Comic-Con next month (when they officially break their "radio silence"), tackle them and tickle them until they tell us if we can trust this YouTube business, OK?

Chris in Henderson, Nev.: If next season of Lost is about the Oceanic Six trying to get back, wouldn't it be more than just Emilie de Ravin who would need a holding contract? What about Josh Holloway, Terry O'Quinn, etc.?
They don't need holding contracts because we're going to see them on the Island next season, sillypants. I have no idea how they're going weave together the stories from back in the world with the stories from the Island, but Sawyer, Jin, Locke and company will be present and accounted for. I think a lot of season five will be a great ironic contrast between what the O6 think is happening on the Island, and what the Islanders think is happening in the world (all while the Widmore-Linus war rages around them).

The New York Post: 10 reasons why 'Lost' is found

2. We learn Jack's fate: The finale introduced the flash forward and showed us Jack's (Matthew Fox) slide into alcoholism when he leaves the island. "The flash forward is part of an overall plan for the show," says Damon Lindelof, co-executive producer. "Season 4 is about who gets off the island and the fact that they need to get back. Season 5 is about why they need to get back, and season 6 is about what happens when they get back."

3. We know who survives: Season four introduced six survivors: Jack (Matthew Fox); Kate (Evangeline Lilly); Hurley (Jorge Garcia), and Sayid (Naveen Andrews). This "Oceanic 6" make it off the island, but one will die - exactly who will be revealed this season. "We've made a choice to focus on the characters that fans have loved since the beginning - Jack, Kate, Sawyer (Josh Holloway), Locke (Terry O'Quinn), Sayid and Hurley," says Lindelof.

From EW: Jeff Jensen interview with Lindelof and Cuse
- Adam and Eve, the skeletons, will be adressed but not this season;
- The larger mythos, like "The Purge", will come back in season 5;
- NO to alternative realities, because they want the audience to invest in the story and the characters and what happens to them - that doesn't exclude time travel and bending of the space/time continuum though;
- the mystery of Ben's list is linked to the wreckage seen at the bottom of the ocean.

Julia in San Diego: Lost! I just read somewhere that Sawyer might not make it through the season. Please save me from a true panic attack and tell me Sawyer isn't going anywhere!
Yes, Sawyer's going to be killed off in episode six, and from what I understand that will be the show's last-ever mention of the character. Audiences just never warmed up to him, and the writers realized it was best to simply give his off-putting storyline to a swift, clear-cut end. (I'm kidding. Seriously now, with all the stressing going on at tvdiva@eonline.com, I worry that you guys are all gonna give yourselves aneurysms. I promise you, if Sawyer were to eventually get killed off, which I consider unlikely in the extreme, the show would at least do it Nate Fisher style—that guy is gonna be around until the end in one way or another.)

TFTNT Fran!!!

Two quick things I wanted to say that I had to wait to say until the new thread opened:

First:

Quote:
"If I had to say a one word theme on all the work we have done so far on season 5, it would say 'children'
Day after day, we keep getting one more clue about a Jack and Kate baby. Yesterday it was the comic book, today it's this 'children' spoiler. They may not be the outlandish, obvious hints, but they are there and they are piling up.

Some people who are dismissing this like it's nothing and making fun of those who do believe in it are in for the shock of a lifetime I believe.

Second:

I am just noticing this now, but in the promo for tonights episode, when Locke goes to talk to Jack, Jack already has the beard and looks like a bum. Now, we have all been under the assumption that Locke's visit is what led Jack to this state, but the promo shows otherwise: He was ALREADY there when Locke comes to him.

So obviously, there had to be something else that triggered the downward spiral bearded Jack that was not Locke's visit. Any guesses? I think the answer is obvious:Kate.

50 bucks says that they will make it clear as day tonight that the reason for Jack's appearace was the end of his relationship with Kate. Yes folks, we will once again be bombarded with evidence of Jack's love for Kate episodes after we should have seen it.

I wouldn't be surprised if they show Jack in his messy apartment sitting in a darkened corner rolling Kate's engagement ring between his thumb and index finger with some fresh jears ready to fall.

Thanks for the heads' up, Alex!
Is Evangeline doing all the public appearances this season, where is the rest of the cast?
It's weird, isn't it? Lots of cast members promoted the show on TV last year, but this year it has been all Evangeline Lilly.

But this is what the writers have told us on the audio commentary already: Jack becomes a drug addicted alcoholic with a huge beard because Kate won't tell him what the promise for Sawyer is. It didn't have anything to do with his sister or his guilt about leaving his people behind to rot. It was all about his "love" for Kate and jealousy of her connection to Sawyer, which has made me lost the tiny bit of respect I still had left for him.

I think that's a crock of s**t. We are supposed to believe that Jack's falls apart because his relationship with Kate ended? Wasn't he the one who ruined it? Wasn't he the one who started drinking and taking pills with a 3 year old kid in the house?

The only way I can even begin to sympathize with Jack is if his spiral was caused by whatever Locke tells him. That hearing Locke verbalize what Jack tried to suppress for three years is what leads him to falliing apart. That he realizes he screwed up and needs to step up and save the people left behind that he promised to help get off the island. I can buy that, but what I can't buy is that he only loses it because he lost access to Kate's ass, which was his OWN DOING.

Deej - I moved your post from the previous thread to this one, so it doesn't get lost, hope you don't mind.
That picture is made of win btw, lol.

Jack's "fall": we saw him really starting to lose it when Christian appeared to him, so I want to hope his crisis has several reasons, not just his trust issues with Kate.
There is his father, what Hurley told him, Locke's visit... they are supposed to factor in with his decision to go back, and his realization that their lives on mainland are wrong.

Alex - yep it's really weird. I think only Rebecca and Daniel has done a couple of appearances, and that's it. It's all about Evangeline so far.

I think that's exactly what we are supposed to believe and I also think we are supposed to feel sorry for Jack although he screwed it up all on his own. I never had the feeling that we were supposed to despise Jack for using Juliet on the island and treating Kate and Aaron like crap off the island. We were probably supposed to feel sorry for him because his paranoia and jealousy and control issues ruined his one shot at happiness with his "one true love" Kate and we were probably also supposed to feel sorry for him in the on-island story because Kate did not return his feelings (poor baby).

From what I've seen on the show, I've gotten no indication that Jack wants to go back for anybody (Claire was definitely no motivation) and I also think Locke will only motivate Jack to go back by telling him it's the only way to keep Kate and Aaron safe. They will retcon his suicide attempt and his attempts to crash back via planes without Kate tonight. Mark my words.

And don't forget that Matt Fox never mentioned that his character wants to safe anybody. He always talks about Jack wanting to pursue his destiny on the island when he gives interviews. That is pretty telling if you ask me.

I feel like they are always showing some Star Trek reruns here (I don't even know how many series there are) and the last episode I caught was the one with Data and his mother. IIRC They both played violin in it.

I still don't like Eloise.

Yes! That's the one.

Awwwwww. Though, she was a little high and mighty when she was spouting off all that boring techno babble in the last episode.

That's an understatement.
I like her young, on-island, version, but I don't think many share my opinion.

I think Ms. Hawking needs to tone down her "I'm the good witch of the Lost faity tale" charm...
It's over the top, imo.

Take Richard: he has the mythology figure appeal, but still talks like a... common human being.

And this is random but, didn't Yunjin tell TV Guide that not all the Six succeeded in going back to the island? Was she referring to the fact that she (and some others) ends up in the wrong timeline, or I'm remembering the spoiler wrong?
Or she might be talking about Desmond, for instance?

I went to look for the exact quote:
Quote:
"We don't all succeed" in getting back to the island, teases Yunjin Kim, whose character, Sun, "takes matter into her own hands" in her quest to avenge the death of husband Jin.
We only have the first half of Yunjin's direct quote, so who knows.

About Jack: I know that they've been making a big deal out of his feelings for kate lately (just 316 alone is enough to get their intentions), but now, he's also supposed to be back on the "path of the hero", and play the man of faith, somehow.
They have to give some substance to his reasons to go back to the island, things can't just center completely around Kate and Aaron.
Plus, in the premiere Jack did mention the danger all the other Losties left behind were in.
