Hey, Sher!

Prison Break is not my type of show. For that genre I prefer movies. Granted, I didn't watch it, but it just doesn't interest me enough to watch it. I much prefer sit coms to dramas. Other than hospital shows (of which I watch all - ER, House, Grey's Anatomy, Scrubs [which isn't a drama], and I'm planning on watching the one about the infertility clinic), VM and GG are the only dramas I watch.

So, OT, my cousin came over last night. She, as she always does when she comes over, got drunk, and started telling us about some family secret about a murder. But then she decided she wouldn't tell us the rest. So I asked my parents, and apparently, when my mom was 5, someone (I'm not sure who yet, but my cousin made it sound like one of my family members in the Mafia, which we do have a few of) drowned in a bathtub in the house. My mother has decided that her father drowned him, or something like that. But there were never any charges or anything, and it's purely conjecture on the part of my mom and now I can't wait to get home from work so she'll tell me the whole story.

I made some more snickerdoodles today and my sister likes them. I was very surprised because she never likes my baking. Everyone in my family other than my brother really enjoys them. He hates everything I do, make or even talk about so I can't expect all that much from him.

I ususally can't stand sitcoms because they're so much shorter and it seems like there's a lot less happening in basic storylines and development.

I didn't watch PB either, and probably won't.

jujubee - That is a really interesting story. A little distrubing because I could never imagine that happening, but wow.

Also OT... who is in your icon? (Well, okay, I can read the name in your sig, but is he an actor?)

He plays Finn on Gilmore Girls.

Prison Break was actually really good. I probably wouldn't have watched it if it hadn't been recommended or others hadn't been continually chattering about it.

Tanc is Finn on GG. He's exotic and hot. So go vote for him.

So it turns out that the story is that a close family friend committed suicide by drowning himself in the tub in my mom's house when she was 4. About 15 years ago, she started asking questions about it and her dad gave her some newspaper clippings about it. It turns out that both her parents were held on suspicion of murder, but my great grandfather, the teamster, came down and spoke to the police and they were released. But there were certain parts of the story that make my mom think that someone was having an affair, and there was a fight. Bec there was also something about the man being stabbed with an ice pick. Anyway, my mom says she'll write a novel about it some day.

So this is JD related, but off topic enough to go here. The site just had a major boost in traffic today. 100+ hits than it's second best day. Yay! It just makes me happy and I had to share with you.

OT, though, school is totally kicking me. Ugh. I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere even though I spent all of my free time doing homework. I just get so distracted by the cases that I don't realize I spend forever on a single case before moving on. Anyone else feeling the "woe is me now that school is back in session" blues?

My problem with school so far is all my classes are online, and I'm having issues with 2/3 of them. And the one that I'm not is going to be the hardest class. Plus, I claimed I know how to put a website together, which I do, but a very basic website. Now the prof is asking me if I'm will to help other ppl. I hope it doesn't turn out that we need to like make anything elaborate. One of my other classes will be an easy A, unless I can't take one of the two tests, which is a possibility, unless they are willing to open it early for me. And my third one, all the homeworks are supposed to be open, so you can work ahead if you want, but not even the first lesson's homeworks are open. And none of my profs seem to want to get back to me.

So how do you find out how many hits a board gets?

My school load isn't that bad. IME is going to be an A maybe A/B, plus I'm the only girl in my whole class. Calc will be difficult but I know I can make it through it, I just might get a C in it. Chemistry will be an easy A. And my paper/pulp 100 class is going to be fun and hopefully an easy A.

Paper/pulp? I'm guessing that's a class either on comic books or how to make paper.

It goes through the prosses of making paper. The final will be writing out how logs get made into paper. My major is Paper Engineer.

That's so cool. Do they offer that at most colleges?

There's only 9 colleges in the USA that offer paper engineer. I'm pretty sure Finland and Germany have one each but I'm not sure how many more there are. Probably a couple in Canada.

Wow. I don't know anything about paper engineering. Are you going to get to research new ways to make paper?

Yea, I hope to someday make paper use less water. But before that I'll have fun making paper from different materials. WMU is the only college with it's own working paper making machine/factory. So we get to make paper out of whatever we want to try. Someone made it out of the stuff blue jeans are made out of.

I really don't know much about it yet I've only been in one class. What I do know is that there's 8-10 people total going into paper engineering this year at WMU. So the numbers are really good. One chick that just graduated turned down a $66,000 job offer because the plant that wanted her was too far away and she had job offers closer. So I'm hoping the job market is still great in five years.
