and he's not going to tell the boys until he knows for sure. In his own twisted way he thinks with the way he betrayed the boys before, he can't risk 'hurting' them with this news unless he knows for sure, if he's wrong it could ruin his relationship with them.

I feel like even if he knew what Mary was doing for sure, he wouldn't get involved, like I can't really imagine him telling the boys to their faces something they don't want to hear, or standing up for them and confronting Mary.
