My headcanon or fanon is that in S6 when Castiel started working with Crowley, Adam was one of the thousands he released from Hell as a good faith gesture.

Is it too much to hope for that the mention of Adam in the musical will get Dean and Sam wondering if there is away to save him? Dean's a knight of hell...surely that can get him into places.
