This episode was AMAZING!! I'm so glad they took a chance and went there!! The boys looked fantastic! It was such a great change of pace yet it moved the storyline along nicely.

And random, but I loved that Dean was a Clint fan!

Also random, but I liked how excited he got when they first discussed the time travel and he went shopping for western clothes

As a huge western fan I looked forward to the episode with mixed feelings. On the one hand, I was excited about Supernatural using western elements, on the other hand I was afraid this could turn out not so good. After all they did a nice job; a bit excessive from time to time but still a good episode. Especially because of Elias Finch; I loved and pitied him at the same moment. His story was heart-breaking and I wished Dean hadn't had to kill him. Some "monsters" make me wonder whether I'm on Dean/Sam's side or not...

Oh and Rachel! She was fierce and beautiful, such a powerful creature. Would've loved to see more of her, too. :/

Yep, I also thought it was a shame Dean had to kill him, I felt sorry for Finch. And while he was telling his story that wonderful music was playing.

Vanessa, I agree!! I'm a huge fan of Westerns and I was worried too, they could have went total cracktastic on them and just not do them justice, but I think everything was handled really well. Especially Dean's love for the Western. ...and personally I think Clint Eastwood and Henry Fonda are the greatest western actors, so for one of them to be Dean's fave and not somebody typical like John Wayne was an added bonus.

Also going to agree about Elias Finch, he really wasn't a bad guy. I was hoping there was a way to save him and still get what they needed.

I really loved this episode. It's funny before I started watching this with my boyfriend, we were having a discussion about who is the real hero in Skyrim and he said, it's the courier because you know, when the courier shows up, everything is going be alright. And what happens at the end of the episode here, after Sam and Dean miss to get the ashes from the past? The courier shows up and everything is alright.

Also, a really nice nod to the second Back to the Future movie.
