Finished rewatching the ep this morning. What really jumps out at me is how easily Gordon gives up, gives in to being a "monster". His whole all-or-nothing attitude really works against him here. With his strength of will, he could have had a good chance at learning self-control and not hurting people, of living like Lenore and her group did. But he instantly accepts that if he's a vampire, he has to live like one, hurting and killing people. His inability to see any other way adds to the tragedy. __________________

true, and there's something sad to see how Gordon easily viewed himself as a monster, automatically. I do think if he put his self-control into it, he could have had a chance over time to not hurt people.

No matter what else is said about Gordon, you couldn't call him a weak-willed person. And I actually do believe he planned on dying as soon as he killed Sam. But he never even considered a possibility of being other than a "monster".

that's true, I also believe he really would kill himself as soon as he kills Sam, Gordon truly believed that he was a monster and a menace and there's no other hope for him

Even at his most "let's hunt all monsters" stage, I don't think Dean was ever that blinded in his mentality. But then, Dean always had Sammy. Dean can't believe that there's no hope, that things are predestined, because he can't believe Sam has no chance to be other than a monster. And if Dean was ever turned into a monster (like if he was the one turned into a vampire), there would still be Sam to consider.

true, Dean always had Sammy so he had him to consider, that he thought of Sam first, and Dean doesn't believe in destiny because he won't acknowledge that Sam is destined to turn evil

While Gordon didn't have anyone, or anything (other than his "you're either all-good or you're evil" mentality) to hold onto.

that's true, and Gordon was pretty much all alone, there's really no one in his life, aside from other possible hunting friends like Kubrick.

And while it may have saddened Gordon, we saw what happened with him.
Obviously, there wasn't as strong a bond there. __________________

that's true, the thirst/need for his quest does overpower their friendship/bond, sad

It really is all or nothing with Gordon. Monster or not. No shades of grey.

definitely no shades of gray, I don't think he'd even ever stop to consider it.

I was sad to see him go. During this re-watch I saw him as Randall from This Is Us

I was trying to figure out where I saw the other hunter (with the super religious background). His character wasn't named, but I saw him in Flash Forward.
