Yeah, they're not that lazy at all really.

I finally booked my hotel stay for London, I'm going to be staying at the Intercontinental which is right next to the O2 arena.

It was a battle of decision making as it's really expensive and I had to weigh up whether it was worth it for the two nights or go for the cheaper Holiday Inn Express which is a 20 minute walk down the road and I was weighing up how worth it saving the extra money was to having to walk that far after the concert at night. Which I decided it wasn't worth it, spending that bit extra for the comfort of getting to my hotel room in less than 10 minutes after leaving the venue, yeah, that's much better.

Though I saved money other ways by choosing a rate that had no free cancellation...just hoping things run smoothly and something doesn't happen in which I have to cancel for whatever reason.

I'd definitely pay more to save a walk.

mine for Birmingham isn't too far.

My bank blocked my card earlier, thinking there was unusual activity. WHAT! Just a normal UK hotel booking and two local shop purchases. Hotel was declined, shops the card was approved. I don't want to lose my reservation!

I'm having to call the front desk of the hotel later to make sure the card payment goes through now that it's unblocked. But the line is busy right now. It's after 5pm now. Ugh.

Mine (NatWest) used to do that (even in my hometown), but now they just text me to check that it's me using it.

Nope, still not sorted, I tried calling the front desk numerous times yesterday and every time the line was busy. And yep, I'm with Natwest.

I get that they do that when I used my card abroad, like when I tried to use my card to pay for the horse and carriage ride we went on in Central Park, it was declined, I got the text later to say about the unusual activity so I replied Y to say I do recognise those transactions. Looking up, I've found that you can let the bank know when you intend to use your card abroad and then they won't check on it's usage or something. But the fact that they did that at home, when all I'm doing is booking a UK based hotel reservation, is wrong. It stresses me out and I have to keep trying to contact the hotel to make sure my payment goes through or I will lose my reservation. Ugh.

EDIT: Well, I finally managed to get through to the front desk and they put my card through again, so hopefully my payment will now go through! YES! Relief.
