VK Academy - JRock: What is it? Want to find out?

Rachel spurred me into this. She spurs me into making a lot of threads because she's awesome like that. I've always wanted to do this but I never had the guts or the belief that people were interested in JRock. You can be though!

JRock - (n.) Japanese rock music
VK - (adj.) Viskei; Visual Kei; Visual Shock, a type or style of Japanese rock music meant to shock or energize the masses.

If you want to know and still have a curiosity for this, I've compiled a few sites of some bands below, find whatever name tickles your fancy because they're all awesome bands. Here we go:
Lace and Fishnet: Dir En Grey
Dir En Grey
Tattered Cloth: Dir En Grey
Duel Jewel
X-Japan
X Japan

Sooner or later I'll also make a list of JRock bands and what they're best known for. I'm missing links to Malice Mizer. Other bands of mention are L'arc~En~Ciel, Miyavi, Moi Dix Mois, Camino... there are tons.

Viskei Rockers
Endless Rain
Walloo (Whether she likes it or not )

Thanks Rachel and thank you for being my first poster.

The Dir En Grey sites I've found are pretty fanatical and they're so great. There are people who dress in costumes like them called CosPlayers I don't know if you know them, but they go as far as getting the same tattoos and piercings as them. It's crazy.

The close tag Hide comment is in honor of X Japan's guitarist Hide who died in a car crash some seven years ago. X Japan was a legendary JRock band lasting more than a decade with their awesome ballads. Only songs in the world that can make me cry.

I hope people post here. ...

I'll have to find some place I can place my songs as "samples" up for download. I have a crazy amount and my friend has like a library of 800. It's insane. Hey, I'm a fanatic too, so ha. We're in the same boat. You and I can be fans together on this lovely thread of ours. Oh! I found the new Shoxx scans for DeG! Here they are: LiveJournal - Dir En Grey I hope you like'em Rach. They're the shiznite.

Kyo's really scary but he's really cute too. Hilarious. They were in an interview talking about EGL (Elegant Gothic Lolita) which is popular among many Dir En Grey fans in Japan, and Kyo was like: "I understand people like EGL but... for some people... it really... doesn't... work out..." The he did this little nervous look around thing. Miyavi's pretty cute too. He's got piercings and tattoo's out the wazoo.

I have no clue what shiznite means. I think it's a ghetto way of saying "*****". I heard it on some TV show and adapted it to my means. I don't have MIRC infortunately. My computer doesn't like to run a lot of things because I'm using a Chinese platform and everything's in Chinese. I'm trying to find some place that will let me upload them or something. No clue. I'm googling it as we speak.

lol bowlnoodle, L'Arc~En~Ciel was in Baltimore this summer for what was it, Otakon? I can't believe I missed it.

I know I'm sorry. I don't have MIRC. I hate Chinese sometimes. But if it was in English it would probably take me forever to navigate it. You're welcome to use any of my words. They're freebies.

Oh and Rach I'll try and find you some of the funnier interviews. There was one where I think Kyo just kept answer "Death" or something involving it to every question. "What's your favorite color?" "Red, the color of death." ... "What kind of music do you listen to?" "The sound of murderrrr."

Don't worry if you don't know the bands though. I'll slowly ease you into all the VK knowledge sooner or later! And yay we have one more person to whore the VK thread!

lol Nasty French folks, eh? You're so evil... how cute! I learned a British word today! "Flootlel"! I also learned that the British are extremely good at making euphomisms from their crappy censoring company. So yeah. That's my new favorite British word aside from wanker.

You won't be out of the loop. Pwomise. I'll take care of you so don't you worry about that. Just don't want information overload. Your brain may implode from their wonderous and virtuous beauties. (They meaning VKers) I don't know how many blood vessels I've popped watching Malice Mizer's Illuminati video or any of the "fan service"!

Flootlel is a replacement word for **** because BBC wouldn't air anything like that so instead Britains chose to use less offensive words in place of the curse word.

Oh man some of those music videos are crazy morbid. They're hella scary. There's one with a scalpel to the eye. Morbid scarrryyyy stuff. But don't be discouraged! The band makes sure you know that they're cute too. At their lives (concerts), they really like to flick people off... also, on another note, there's a new up and coming band called Psycho le Cemu (PLC). They're a little on the pop side and much lighter than the seemingly gothic antics of DeG. They have this thing called Para Para which is coordinated moves for their songs. It's great having a stadium full of thousands of thousands of people doing the exact same dance move.

Have you noticed yet that in every band there's one very feminine cross dresser looking guy? And they're all ridiculously pretty... Shinya's the girly-guy in DeG. Mana for Malice Mizer. Hayato for Duel Jewel... the list goes on.

Yeah, he really is pretty as a "girl" and even without the make up he has some pretty thin features, it reminds me of those manga I read, now I know where those characters come from...but they all pretty dress up and put make up to look androgynous on some pics...I really like the shoots....the outfits are just unbelievable especially for someone like me living near Paris, you know, its like every fashion that is not "ours" is nono here
