Pearl Jam: How Much Difference Does It Make

Welcome to the brand new Pearl Jam appreciation thread!

Here we will discuss all things Pearl Jam. I've been a fan of their since the day Vs. came out in the early 90s. I bought it because I thought the cover was funny. Since then, their music has LITERALLY saved my life and I owe everything to them. Who else is a fan? Favorite songs, favorite albums? Concert memories?

Thanks for starting this thread, Matt!

Becoming a fan of Pearl Jam led me to The Who, The Split Enz, The Ramones, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Fugazi, and a host of other great bands.

I"m glad you mentioned Pearl Jam opening the door because they did that a lot for me. I grew up with parents and I listening to Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Beatles and John Lennon. But, it wasn't until Pearl Jam playing those songs that I REALLY got into them. Now, I own every PJ Cd, every Neil, Dylan, Lennon...I have a John Lennon tattoo....Pearl Jam opened that door for me.

I need to check out more of Pearl Jam's catalog. Evenflow is a badass tune but it's a band I've overlooked for far too long. got any recs where to start.

No Code and Binaural are awesome. Their latest one, Lightning Bolt is also one of their best reviewed. You can't go wrong with any of them...but those are a good start.

Vs. is also a good album to start with. Pearl Jam's music runs the gamut of styles, from hard rock and punk to softer ballads and even country-inspired songs. But as Matt said, you won't go wrong with any of their albums.

Matt, Pearl Jam's got roots in so many great bands.

"Yellow Ledbetter" is original to Pearl Jam. But funny you should mention RITFW. It was the first song that played on my radio this morning (Neil Young singing it), and I thought to myself that it's as much a PJ song now as a Neil Young song.

Their big covers are Last Kiss and Rockin' in the Free World. Lately, EV has been doing Imagine which is just magical. (I also have an Imagine tattoo lol)

I've only been to one and it was so amazing, so magical...so breathtaking. Single greatest moment of my life (and yes, it's bigger to me than my wedding).

(I can justify that because I love my wife more than anything in the world, Pearl Jam is number 2. My wedding only had Colleen (though our first dance song was to PJ's Just Breathe). The PJ concert I had both Colleen and PJ with me!)
