Musicals/Broadway Appreciation Thread #3: Because this is love to us....

Yay, a new thread! Maybe b/c it's my current addiction, but...the title was inspired by The Light in the Piazza--Fabrizio's beautiful solo near the end of the show, his declaration of love to Clara.

Link to the last thread:

Happy posting, everyone!

Here are some pictures of some of my favorite performers to get us started:

The Dirty Rotten gang, Norbert Leo Butz, Sherie Rene Scott, and John Lithgow:

Patrick Wilson:

Sutton Foster and Matt Morrison:

Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel:

John Selya:

Raul Esparza (from a production still from tick tick Boom!)

I LOVE the title! "Love to Me" is such a gorgeous song, I love listening to it.

Some of my loves, aside from the ones you posted (Patrick Wilson, John Selya, Taye Diggs, Norbert Leo Butz and Matthew Morrison are among some of my favorite broadway boys!

Adding:

Curtis Holbrook:

Cheyenne Jackson (with Sutton Foster):

A clip of Curtis, Cheyenne, and Nikki James singing from All Shook Up:

Anyone catch Wicked on Jay Leno? They did One Short Day. Once again, it made me wish I could afford to go to Broadway (or even the USA) to watch musicals. Plus I kinda wish it were Kristin and Idina doing Leno, but hey, I'll take whatever I can get.

Maybe it's because I hate Leno, but I preferred when Idina was on Letterman.

Idina's performance on Letterman was partly what got me into being a Wicked and serious Broadway fan. She was great! Dave has had other guests who were onstage this past season--David Hyde Pierce, Billy Crystal, Denzel Washington, Christina Applegate. But I really wished Norbert had been on to do "Great Big Stuff"!

Sadly, I don't have much of a choice, since we don't get Letterman here anymore. Humbug.

I'll download it when I get the chance, hee hee. Thanks for the link!

I'm excited. Our college theater organization's going to be doing a new member showcase in late September, and I've volunteered as stage manager. They'll be doing exceprts from Rent, Bye Bye Birdie, Once on this Island, and Into the Woods. Hope it goes well. The new crop of members looks promising!

Hi!

I'm new to this thread...I've been looking on FF for a Broadway board/thread but never found one until well now..haha

I'm a complete musical junkie...Last week I went up to Broadway and saw 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (so goooood! If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it)

And well I'm pretty much obsessed with anything and everything theatre...I currently have my RENT recording on repeat. I am anxiously waiting for the movie (as noted by my sig)

I haven't heard any songs from Light in the Piazza(Well excpet for the one that was sung at the Tonys)...Is it good?

My favorite line from that show:

"Billy, put down that phylactery!"

I'm not one to like operatic music, so I was surprised I liked the music. It really is beautiful (especially anything Kelli O'hara and Matthew Morrison sing) and it definitely grows on you. I'd recommend it

Our musical theater group is doing a revue for the freshman/new member production. They'll be doing excerpts from Once on this Island, Into the Woods, Rent, and Bye Bye Birdie. I'm so excited for the new members!

P Y R O, that sounds good. I wish much luck! I'm currently in a production of Cabaret...I love the show but our production is eh...We lost our director 3 weeks before it was set to open, so we have to relearn almost everything because our new director is very different. And I normally wouldn't have a problem with that but we have so little time...So yea.

I'm leaving for Chicago tomorrow!! I'm so excited to see Wicked. I got to hear a clip of Chicago's "Defying Gravity" and really liked it; it's different than the CD of course but still wonderful.

I was able to catch Wicked on Leno, it was so random and totally unexpected for me. I wish they'd done a different song as that's not a song to best represent the musical, but it is very bright and busy and has the ensemble, so I suppose that's why they chose it.

In other musical news, I finally bought the Broadway soundtrack for The Lion King because I love, love, love the movie and its soundtrack. In all honesty, I really don't like it at all. Huh.
