| Melissa Etheridge cancels tour because of cancer I found this on AOL news.  LOS ANGELES (Oct. 8) - Singer Melissa Etheridge has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has canceled upcoming tour dates to undergo treatment, her publicist said Thursday. Etheridge, 43, will undergo surgery and a "speedy and complete recovery" is expected by her doctor, publicist Marcel Pariseau said in a statement. The cancer was detected early and Etheridge has been receiving treatment, Pariseau said. "I am fortunate to be under a wonderful doctor's care and thankful that this was caught early," Etheridge said in the statement. "I am looking forward to a quick and full recovery." Etheridge and actress Tammy Lynn Michaels held a commitment ceremony in September 2003. The musician, who lives in Los Angeles, shares custody of a daughter and son with former partner Julie Cypher, who had the children through artificial insemination using a sperm donation from rocker David Crosby. Etheridge's latest album, "Lucky," was released in February. |  I hope that Melissa recovers from her bout w/ breast cancer and she will be in my prayers. So sad, I want a cure for this cancer already! | |||

| This is sad. My mother has been a fan of hers for such a long time, so I started growing up around her music. Been to a few of her concerts and she's seems like a nice person. She was once doing a show at Hershey Park (an amusement park) and actually walked around to ride the rides with all of the customers in the park. Most artists want the place shut down to the public for a few hours while they have their fun, so I thought her openness said a lot about her. She even would talk about the rides she rode inbetween songs and joke around like she was talking one-on-one to you. Has to be one of the most down-to-earth and laid back artists in the business.
