Marilyn Manson Appreciation #2 - Our Sympathy for the Parents

Marilyn Manson Appreciation Thread #2

Banner by **Maddy**

Marilyn Manson is:
Marilyn Manson - vocals
Tim Skold - guitar, bass
Madonna Wayne Gacy - keyboards
Ginger Fish - drums

(but we'll love old bassist Twiggy Ramirez and old guitarist John 5 forever and ever and ever. )

Old thread here

New thread! I used the parents title because it seemed to be the one that was most popular... even though only like two people commented on it...

Of course, my parents don't apply.

Hello.

From the previous thread:

Once he ran onstage next to Manson and took his pants off, which was apparently a usual feat for him. Since Manson had a free hand, he reached over and... you know. All part of the performance, apparently. I would have liked to see that one.
Wow. Nothing like that happened when I saw MM live!

Your parents are extra special Sasha. We're all extremely jealous.

It was. That was definitely my favourite BDO. MM was stunning, and put on a really good show.
In fact, all the big names did that year, Korn, Marilyn Manson and Hole played one after another and they were all really good shows.

The only funny thing was that because it was Summer, the sun was still out when MM performed, and I've always pictured him as a creature of the night.

The only mildly interesting thing that happened was that he ripped the pages from a book as he was singing and threw them into the crowd. The next day there were all these articles in the paper about the religious uproar it caused, and how he had ripped up the bible. It hadn't even been a bible! But yeah I guess it was supposed to represent one....

I also remember there being an aricle about how people were disappointed because when he arrived at the airport he looked normal. no makeup or corsets in sight.
My Mum was ranting on about it, how people should leave him alone, that he can't be expected to dress up everytime he walked outside.

Wasn't it also the year with Placebo? God, I'm so jealous. I always do this, I always get into bands too late and miss out on their goodness. Even if I catch MM sometime now it wouldn't be the same without Twiggy and John.

What's your favourite MM song/album Hayley?

Oh I heard about this bible thing. Didn't Courtney Love left the tour because of it??

If MM came to Brazil I'd have to do some fake id's....kinda hard, BUT I would do it, 'cuse no way in hell I'd miss this concert.

I would highly doubt that. It's Courtney Love, I really don't think some bible-tearing will drive her away.

More likely to drive her away is the fact that she had an affair back in 94/95 with Twiggy...

I never heard of Courtney leaving the tour because of that, but I hardly see her as the type, given that when it was her turn on stage, she pulled up her top and showed all of us her boobs.
The only thing I vaguely remember her saying about Manson was something about 'kicking that bitch's ass' or something.

Nicky - I don't remember seeing Placebo, but then again, you don't get to see all the bands because there's multiple stages all playing at once.
Sometimes its a pain when you have bands you like with conflicting schedules! I got to go this year (for free!) and there was some muckup with the schedules they were handing out, like they accidentally gave us the schedules for the Aussie BDO out.

My favourite MM album is Antichrist Superstar, probably because it's what got me into it.
But favourite song is harder to choose, it's a toss up between 'Mister Superstar' and 'The Man That You Fear'.
I love Mister Superstar because it's so rocky, and the riffs have me getting out the air guitar everytime! I love it.
But then on the other hand 'The Man That You Fear' is really haunting and spooky and disturbing, at least for me. I don't know why, but I've always liked it.

Did you guys used to post at the MM board when we had it here for a short time?
I remember talking with people about how MM's music never put us in a bad mood, it was just the opposite, and it's true.
It was funny because there were quite a few posters who I had always thought were way conservative and would never listen to it, and they loved it.

Courtney Love? Show her boobs?! You must be JOKING! I can't believe that Courtney, a perfectly sane woman would ever do such a thing. *chokes*

I know, totally unbelievable right?
It certainly made all of guys there happy, it was their doing, they kept yelling 'Show us your t*ts!' (Charming I know.) So good old Courteney's like 'Hmmm? Ok.' *Whoosh! *
I don't know what was louder, the bass coming from the speakers in front of me since I was in the front row, or the thousands of guys roaring in unison at seeing boobage.

I wasn't in the front row for MM, couldn't get near it, plus I didn't know exactly what kind of crowd it was going to be, so I was just off to side a bit. My friend however was right in there and she said it was fine.

Afterwards, I saw a guy I know come out from the fron with blood all down his T-shirt. He told me it was from the Korn moshpit, someone had accidentally smashed his nose. *Ow*
I had thought the Korn crowd was pretty tame (well, tame-ish) but I had been in the middle, not the front. Things did go pretty crazy when the bagpipes came out though.

I was around when there was an MM board, but I didn't visit it because I wasn't into MM then. Grr... I don't think there's much chance of us getting a board now.

And Jen, you've got to be joking about Courtney being sane, right? (Not that I don't love her for it, but boobies seem to be a regular occurance for her. Anyone else read that article in Q where she stripped off all her clothes and decided to lounge around out on the street for about a hour? )

I would love to go to a MM concert but I am a bit scared of how it might turn out, with the crowds and fans and stuff...

Ditto. I heard that usually lots of ***** happens at his concerts. But I dunno, maybe it is just a impression people got because of his music. But if you watch this DVD a friend of mine got you'll see a lot of NC-17 rated things that happen during the show.

Yeah I never took Love like the kind of girl who would leave MM on tour, BUT, I remember seen an interview with her and she said something "it is ok to do whatever-she-said, but when someone starts to rippe a bible, is is more ugly" - ok not her exatcly words, if it weren't half past one in the morning I'd google it.

Hey I found this article. I still didn't start it but it looks good.... Big... So not a half past one a.m article.

Thanks for the article Maddy, I read the whole thing. Is it bad that while I read it I was listening to MM and and reading it in my head like a televangelist?

I always hear/read rumours about what goes on at these concerts, but I've never actually seen any of it.
There was really nothing out of the ordinary going on when I saw MM, (aside from the tearing the pages from the book) they came, they perfomed, they went. That was it. I was even half expecting something to happen after all the rumours.

Nicky - I would probably be wary of going to one of his concerts anywhere else in the world, but the one here was completely tame.
