So...who likes the Libertines?

And who knows what the hell is going on with them? My friend told me that Pete left the band, and "might" come back...I thought I read somewhere that either Pete or Carl was in France going through rehab...I'm totally confused.

I just got their new album, though, and it's very good. Its a little more "together" than Up the Bracket, but I still like it a lot.

I've only heard a few songs by listening to online radios. They sounds pretty good!

As for someone leaving the band, this is what I heard: They are going on tour right now. But, one of them (I don't remember the name) is doing stuff with a side project band or something. I'm not too sure.

Actually, you never really know what is up with them, or rather, you get to the point when you can't tell what are rumours and what is true, but, these I know are some true things:

Pete was 'fired' from the band until he gets his act together and drops drugs.

The Libs (now Carl, Gary and John) have been touring with another guy (Anthony) playing Pete's parts with the guitar. And Carl goes solo.

Meanwhile , Pete started another band (Babyshambles), and has been playing gigs with them across the UK (you can actually get babyshambles tunes online here : www.andrewkendall.com )

This is a bit of a neverending soap , cuse Pete is really mad that they put him aside, and the Libs aren't at their best and are really down because of Pete's absence...

They're starting the US tour soon, I think

Their official site is : www.thelibertines.org.uk , and they actually update it, so it's cool.


Oh well... sorry if I spammed you with this stuff, but yeah, if you're in LJ (livejournal.com) you should join some libs communities cause they really keep you up to date!

Apart from that I adore this new album (even though some songs make me real sad that they're not with Pete anymore)...it's more consistent that the other one, and more personal for them I guess, and that translated into better music !

I'm glad you started this thread! I was gonna start on myself since I couldn't find one about them !

Whoa, I never saw that this got any replies. Well, anyway. Leg鴨ien, feel free to "spam" me cause that definitely cleared things up for me. That sucks that Pete's not with them anymore. Hmm.

They're performing near me on October 17, but I can't go. School the next day.

That happened to me last sept 10th. I'm still planning my parent's slow, painfull and awfull murder for not letting me go to the gig.

*Ledi*...Like, compared to other bands? I'll answer to that, lol, most music mags say they are influenced by The Smiths, The Jam, Buzzcocks and The Kinks... but they have a sound of their own going on...

If you go here (their official site) the site will play their next single (automaticaly)... but yeah you've got the album so !
