My favorite Joy Division songs are "Disorder", "Digital" and "Love Will Tear Us Apart". I guess this makes me pretty traditional. Who here saw this movie? It came out around the same time as Control. They are both really good, but the documentary kind of shocked me. They had more scenes of the survivors talking about fun times and admitting to being completely detached from their feelings. None of them thought that the songs were really from a place of despair until Ian Curtis killed himself, and they turned into New Order (which I also love) while doing as little reflection on Curtis's suicide as possible. Even knowing the story I was surprised by how sad it made me feel. If you like Joy Division you should definitely watch it. And Control and 24 Hour Party People though you will end up comparing some of the legend of Joy Division's history in the two movies. (the Sex Pistols concert and signing the Factory contract with blood scenes are quite different in the films). __________________
