That's an odd thing to choose as a nickname. A lot of people think the Baby Ruth candy bar was named after Babe Ruth the baseball player, but it wasn't.

Dear Abby -- John Prine

Dear Abby was a personal-advice column that used to be published in the newspapers here. It was popular back in the 1970s.

She added something to that, but, it abbreviates of course. Funny thing, it would also abbreviate to CG, which could be Classy as well... I think she's really more and more becoming a 2nd Classy in several aspects. Probably his influence, at least, that's the common factor. Or they were more similar than I saw in the past, could also be the case.

I didn't know that, about the column. The format is of course similar in the newspapers here too. And in Charmed they also have a "dear Phoebe"-column.

Ethyl My Love - The Muffs

It's so strange that "Ethyl", with that spelling, became a woman's name. There's long been the spelling of "Ethel", but "Ethyl" began as a trade name for tetratehyl lead, an engine antiknock additive with a complicated history, which was banned in the 1970s. (There is still a company in the U.S. called the "Ethyl Corporation", although I don't think they manufacture tetraethyl lead anymore.)
