If you could cover any song...

OK, I've always wondered myself, if I was in a band, or a solo artist, and wanted to do a cover, what would I do it of? So, I thought I'd ask everyone else the same question.

So, what song would you cover, and how would you make it your own? (ie Would you change the tempo, add instruments, etc)

Well, my first reaction was Paint It Black by the Rolling Stones but then again I wouldn't change too much about it, except make the music more... I don't know, atmospheric and make the more 'screamy' lyrics more lung tearing. It's just such a great song that I don't know...

I'd more likely do something like Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground by the White Stripes, and make it oozing with blues and stuff.

Forever Young by Alphaville. I absolutely love that song.
I would like, put bass, drums and guitar and a lot of rifs on it. Cuz the song has just that electronic sound.
I would like to hear it a little bit faster and with a sound a little bit heavier.

I've been trying to learn guitar for the sole purpose of playing the Foo Fighters' song Everlong. The acoustic version of it is simply breathtaking, I'd love to be able to play it myself.

Oooh. Interesting answers.

In trying to answer my own question I realised there's about a million songs I'd love to cover. So I'm thinking a lot about it.

Oh, I've always wanted to do a heavy version of 'Sunshine, Lollipops, Rainbows' (originally by Leslie Gore)
And right now I think an acoustic guitar/piano arrangement of 'Chocolate' by Kylie Minogue would be really interesting.

Goodnight L.A. by the Countin Crows. I love to sing along to it, to listen to the words. To have my own version of the song would be priceless.

That'd work better if I had a better voice, though. And a band...

Wow...this is a hard choice...a great topic, I might add...

I would probably cover a Poe song, like "Amazed". That song it so beautiful how it is but I would put my own little spin on it, like just an acoustic guitar or something simple, because although I love that song, I always think it has a little too much for how amazing it really is...if that makes any sense...I would also probably do a Mandy Moore song, because I love her, but her songs are super poppy...I'd make it more rockin' than anything. Oh, and Incubus, John Mayer and Hanson, just because I love them, and they have awesome songs that would just be so fun to cover!

As of right now I'd cover I Learned That From You by Sara Evans but it could change daily!

I told one of my friends about this idea. And she said that an acoustic guitar arrangement of that 'Blue' song by Eiffel 65 or 55 or whatever it was, would be the best. I agreed. It would be rather amusing.

She also said her boyfriend's band does a kinda punk/heavier cover of 'Innocent Eyes' by Delta Goodrem.
