Shihad is called Shihad again, apparently. 'Pacifier' was a dumb idea all along.

I imagine The Datsuns and Bic Runga are somewhat famous overseas. Other people... probably not so much.

NZ music at that level isn't very good, really. Unsigned alternative... that's where all the talent lies. If anyone's into Radiohead/Muse-like bands, you should click on 'escaped' in my sig. It will take you to a site about a small up-and-coming New Zealand band, who is very talented.

I'm from Australia so I've heard about the majority of those artists. They're not on your list, but as of late I've really been enjoying Evermore's music

I've heard of Betchadupa and Shihad/Pacifier from that list. Didn't Pacifier change there name coz 'Shihad' meant sumthin bad, and it had just been 9/11 ??
I know Scribe is NZ, and im sure i know of more NZ artists, but i just need a list of them to point them out

Shihad was 'too close' to Jihad which apparently means holy war in Osama's language or something. Sensitivity or something, the guys should have never changed their name though.

Yay, they changed it back though.

Black Seeds have had some shows in Oz. Ummm, Betchadupa might have recognition because of Liam's dad.

I heard Brooke Fraser when I was in Melbourne a few months ago. It was weird I've gotta say.

Speaking of kiwi bands, I love Opshop at the moment. Anyone else?

Heard the name Opshop but don't think I've heard their music. What do they sound like Em?

Anyone hate Elemeno P as vehemently as I do? I have no idea how they got to the top rung of NZ music fame. (Not that the top rung is very impressive, really, but still.)

Gah could Elemeno P be ripping off Weezer any more? I hate them. The guys singing voice is so irritating! Don't get me started.

Opshop sound quite a bit like U2. That's pretty optimistic of me since U2 kickass but they definetly have a U2 feel about them. They are good.

Anyone going to see the Finn brothers on tour?

When I saw her at Verona....

Don't shoot.

I like Opshop. Groovy stuff. Haven't got their album yet though, I'm really into The Bleeders right now though.

I'm not really into the Datsuns to be honest. But they're okay.

One of my friends loves The Bleeders. They're going to be at the Big Day Out. Not that I plan to go, but there you go!

The Datsuns sounds *really* familiar....

Other than that, some names sound a bit familiar but I really don't know any of them. I'm Canadian, btw.

I don't like The Datsuns' music, but good on them for taking their music overseas and doing well.

I got a review copy of Evermore's album the other day. It starts off well but then all the songs start sounding a bit samey. It's Too Late is fabulous though. Rockquest churns out quite a few good NZ bands. Anyone heard of Carriage H? They were the winners of the 2001 rockquest. Unfortunately they broke up a while ago, but they did leave behind an EP.
