Which has been the best decade for music?

50's / Elvis, Chuck Berry and Rock & Roll

60's / The Beatles and The British Invasion, Psychedelia and the beginnings of Heavy Metal

70's / Arena Rock, FM Radio, Drugs and Rock & Roll. And disco.

80's / New Wave, Hair Metal and MTV

90's / Grunge, Alternative, RockCountryPop blurring and Boy Groups

00's / Every possible Genre and SubGenre and SubSubGenre imaginable

I had to go with the 90's because that was my decade I grew up with grudge, pop punk and nu metal but really alot of the music in the 90's was just terrible but its what got me into the music I listen to now in the 00's so I had to go 90's.

But the 60's were a great time for music. I would like to forget most of the music of the 70's and 80's Disco and Hair Metal were the worst

I'm all about the 80's and 90's.

80's - Bon Jovi, Paula Abdul, Pat Benetar, Journey, Aerosmith, Madonna, Bostin...

90's - I don't know...I was a teenager, so I of course I was into Nsync and the Backstreet Boys. I think that continued on to the 00's though. I wasn't so much into the grunge, even if they were based where I live.

The only grunge I ever listened to ever even heard was Nirvana and Pearl Jam and I got out of that phase fast thank god lol. Then I was all about Nu Metal(rap/rock) bands like Limp Bizkit, Korn, Kid Rock and Linkin Park when they first all came out. Then I also had my pop punk phase in the 90's were all I listened to was The Offspring, Blink 182, and Greenday. Then you had other bands I was into like Bloodhound Gang. It was just a fun time for music and a great time to be a teenager. Now I listen to most the music and compared to music now I just think wow its not that good but back then it was special.

I think most of us had our boy- bands phase is pretty embarrasing for me, now i can't believe i listened to that music, i think i'd have to go with the 90's as well, i grew up listening to the music of that decade, the grunge, alternative music, pop punk..... and boy bands And although the 70's and 80's weren't that good, there are some amazing bands from those decades that i still love listning to, The Ramones, XTC, The Clash and singers like Elvis Costello

Oh, we could go on forever with this discussion, nice thread idea.

I've always been a fan of the 60's. I mean, there are The Beatles, The Who, Joy Division at the end of the decade and many other legendary bands and artists.
But the 80s was a good decade too. The indie movement rises and Twee has its origins with the famous C86 cassette.
And in the 90s and the 00s technology makes it easier to share music and then there's this great multiplicity as a result, which is fantastic.
