The street in front of the Capitol Records’ famed Tower in Hollywood were crowded with Garth Brooks fans, as the artist received a special Career Award from the RIAA as the new top-selling solo artist of all time, topping Elvis Presley with a total of 123 million albums sold in the USA. The presentation, which took place by his star on the Walk of Fame, included two Diamond Awards, signifying sales of more than 10 million copies, for the albums Sevens and Garth Brooks. Brooks had previously received the honor for No Fences, Ropin the Wind, The Hits and Double Live. “This award reflects the magnitude of the country audience and what they can accomplish when they act together,” said Brooks. “Now let’s all go out and get drunk.” |
