Ever gone to a concert alone?

Have you ever been in a situation where you wanna go to a concert really bad but decided not to 'cause you had no one to go with? I know I have! Well, I admit I have been to a few shows alone...

The first Chantal Kreviazuk concert I went to, me and my friend were split 'cause there was only one seat left but I guess that wasn't to bad 'cause we talked to teach other during intermission.

But then, I did go to another Chantal show alone during a festival...a lot of people were standing so it wasn't TOO bad. It wasn't terribly noticeable that I went alone. And near the end of the show, people were rushing to the stage (including me) 'cause so many people left thinking there wasn't gonna be an encore so it was all cool.

Has anyone else gone to a concert alone?

I've never gone to a concert alone. I don't think I could.

Once Sum 41 was playing here during the summer but I didn't go because all of my friends were on vacation.

Aww...that sucks. There's been a few concerts where I was separated early from my friends (due to moshing and such) and I didn't get to see them until the show was over so I guess that counts, too.

Why deprive myself of something I really want to do, especially when it comes to hearing music by some of my favorite artists?

Yes, it's cool to talk to someone while waiting in line and to talk about the show on the way back, but during the show itself, you probably won't be talking too much or else you'll just piss off those around you trying to enjoy the show.

Plus, if I dragged someone along I'd probably start wondering if he/she was bored or wanted to take off right away. I'd rather just worry about myself and take my time, at the merch table or just chillin' after the show.

I've often been to gigs alone, it's not any better or worse than going with a friend, for me. I'm going to see Sheryl Crow next Thursday on my own, looking forward to that. The only thing is, that after a gig I do like to talk about it to someone, so I just have to sit on the train home with a big grin on my face!

Another problem I've found with going alone is because I don't drive, I've often had to rely on public transport to get home, and I've sometimes had to miss the end of a gig to leave early for the last bus/train. Need more friends with cars!

I left a Nick Cave gig early to get the last bus (dodgy area) and missed PJ Harvey sing a duet with him

Barely - If you move to Canada, you can be my new concert buddy!

PVCscully - It's the transportation that's the problem for me as well. If I take a friend, at least, I can depend on their parents to the concert and back since on a normal weeknight, my parents are working.

While I agree if the concert is a stand-up only concert, it doesn't matter if you're with friends or not because it's unlikely you'll be talking to each other. But when you're sittting, it's a lot more noticeable if you're alone. Plus there's always intermission as well...

I have never been to a concert alone. I don't know if I ever could - I can't even go to the cinemas alone!

However when I have gone to festivals like the BDO I have left everyone to go to a different stage and see an act before - does that count

A question; Intermission? What, during the concerts? That's something I've never heard of. I mean, doesn't that ruin the whole feeling? I'd go crazy if they had an intermission in the middle of a show.

But back to topic; I don't mind going to concerts alone at all. If there's a band I like playing, I go. Maybe I'm used to it though, since I have a tendency to listen to music no one of my mates understand or like. Of course company is nice, but sometimes (read: if you friend doesn't like the artist as much as you do) it just feels strange to stand there getting caught up in the music with a friend beside you who only wants to get out of there.

Or the worst thing that could happen, when you leave and you ask your friend(s) what he/she/they thought, and the answer is "ok" or "pretty good". No, when you yourself think you've just been to the most amazing show of your life you do not want that kind of answer, then it's way better to walk home by yourself, still surrounded by the atmosphere that was in the room during the concert and drema your way back. Yes.

Plus, if you go alone you sometimes meet really cool people. Trust me.

Sure, I go alone a lot at times. Never end up being alone though after a while since I always know peeps who show up to the show.

I mean the intermission between the opening acts and the headliner.

Aha.

Hehe, I should've understood that though, having intermissions during the show would be completely insane.

But thanks for clearing that up. I can only try to blame the fact that I'm tired...

I've never gone to a concert alone. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to do it. There's a concert that I really want to go to at the end of the month, but I just moved to a new town, so I have no one to go with.

I always go to concerts alone. Ever since my concert buddy moved to TN, I've been stuck going to concerts. Like Ken said, why should I miss out on a show that I am dying to see because i have no company. BS! I find people to talk to.

If I'm waiting in line, then I'll talk the people around me or call someone I know to keep me company. In the show, well, I'm there so long depending on how many bands are performing and between the bands setting up that I talk to people around me again. It's fun, you meet new people and sometimes you stay friends or just have a nice chat.

After shows, when I'm so pumped about a show, I call a friend and just talk their ear off or hang out with people. I've found that if you go to a show by yourself, you have a better chance of meeting the band and hanging out with them!

Nope. I need someone to feel secure.

But I'm always missing shows I'm dying to see cause no one likes the music I like.

Van Halen is playing here next month and people I know like them but the tickets are $130 bucks and while I'm willing to pay them, no one else is.

I'm sooo dying to go, though.
