CRYSTAL CASTLES formed in 2003 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
are known for their melancholic lo-fi sound
and their explosive live shows. Initially the band
was a solo project started by Ethan Kath in December
2003. Ethan later discovered Alice Glass singing in a
noise-punk band, and thought he had found the
missing ingredient to his music. In 2004 Ethan
gave Alice 60 instrumental tracks and in April 2005
she recorded vocals over five instrumentals. The band’s
first single Alice Practice was actually a microphone
test by Glass.

In 18 March 2008 they released their debut album
entitled Crystal Castles. In 23 April 2010 the duo
released their second album Crystal Castles (II).

the first time i heard TMWTS i couldn't believe i'd never listened to it before. it'd just been sitting on my ipod for ages, then i listened to it and i was all

now it's one of my fav songs ever. the lyrics are kinda dodgy though, i think they might be about child abuse... also she ran away from home at a young age so that would sort of make sense. but who knows. they could mean something completely different.

mte! theres something beautiful about their music which is what separates them from other noise bands for me. They can go from the abrasiveness of Doe Deer to the likes of Celestica and TMWTS and not sell themselves out, they're good at what they do and they don't fit in anywhere really

I love both sides of Crystal Castles

and yes it is definitely about child abuse has to be,

I dunno what it is about them both they really don't give a **** about much but they're so interesting as people. I find though the fact that they hate doing interviews makes them look arrogant but they're genuinely nice people, I'veh eard Ethan's really laid back and nice and Alice

Celestica is an amazing vid too but I can never get how they got the kids to be in it?

Like I doubt you'd hear Ethan and Alice be like we want kids playing violins in our vid

i completely agree with what you said about their music. they're so so talented. each of their songs has something different to offer and they're just plain brilliant songwriters. anyone who overlooks them as pretentious hipsters are mostly people who either don't know much about music or haven't given theirs a proper chance, and are just judging them based on their style.

i don't think they're arrogant at all.

i think it's fair enough that they don't want to do that many interviews. i doubt it's all that relaxing having a camera and mic shoved in your face. most people just do interviews for the publicity anyway. so yeah i think it's fair enough that they only choose to do interviews they feel comfortable with.

yeah Ethan did say once we wanna make music not talk about it and I can totally respect that.

I like how they do DJ sets and remixes as well

LOl i was gonna post that video. it's so funny the way she tries to throw the drum and it just sortof topples onto the guard. she must've been soo out of it.
