Copeland #1: They're The Brightest Little Fireflies In Our Jars!

Horrible wrangling of the line from 'Brightest' aside, hello and welcome to the thread. I'm a Copeland fan. I usually don't wrangle stuff like that, but I couldn't think of anything better. If you've got a better idea, let me know and I'll change it right away

Some background, happily stolen from Wikipedia:

Quote:
Copeland was originally formed in 2000 by singer Aaron Marsh (who also plays the guitar, mellotron, organ, and piano) with his friend, bassist and backup singer James Likeness, in the city of Lakeland, Florida. Bryan Laurenson, guitarist, and Jonathan Bucklew, drummer (who took the place of Rusty, ex-drummer of Copeland and drummer on Beneath Medicine Tree) give the band an original sound. In 2002, they signed a record deal with independent label The Militia Group and released their debut album Beneath Medicine Tree a year later. They operate out of Central Florida and have a calm, pop-rock sound. In 2004, 2005, and 2006 they performed at the annual Cornerstone Florida Festival in Orlando, Florida. In Motion, Copeland's second full length CD, was released on March 22, 2005. It was produced by Matt Goldman and Aaron Marsh, and mixed by Ken Andrews.

Eat, Sleep, Repeat, Copeland's third full length album, was released on October 31, 2006. Columbia Records announced their signing of Copeland in a press release dated November 14, 2006. "We always said that we would only consider working with a label that was passionate about our band and our music, and the folks at Columbia are just that," the band said in a blog on its MySpace page. “Nothing drastic will change other than the fact that hopefully a few more ears will get to hear our music.”
Sites of interest:
Copeland official site
MySpace site
Purevolume site
Copeland LJ community (it's not everyday that a band links the fan LJ community in their official site, which goes to show how down-to-earth they are).

So, if you're a Copeland fan, join me in appreciating them. They just don't get enough love methinks.

Nope. I can't think of anything better either. But then, you already knew that.

Since I only just started listening to Copeland yesterday, I don't know all that much about them. But I can say that 'Love Is A Fast Song' is my favourite out of the whole like six songs I've listened to of theirs.

Put some background info in the first post Gwen. Where are they from? etc Some of us don't know stuff like that, and can't be bothered waiting for their site to load .

There, I didn't work very had for it but I couldn't be bothered to find more. It's also quite hard to find Copeland stuff.

Which are the songs I sent you? I can't remember.

It happens. Oh, there was a time where I posted, then I came back a few hours later and the threads I had posted on were on page 3. I thought my eyes were deceiving me at first turned out someone had gone on a posting spree in the time between, but still.

How can you not like 'Sleep'? That's, like, my favourite Copeland song ever. (The second being 'Brightest', but I haven't sent you that one yet). I like 'Love Is A Fast Song', of course, I like all Copeland songs and that's quite a good one... but I love 'Sleep'. (Also, I think, I'm biased because that was the second Copeland song I heard; the first being 'Brightest' acoustic).

I've only listened to 'Sleep' once. And that was when you sent me like 5 songs at a time so I can't even remember which one it was. 'Love Is A Fast Song' was the first one you sent me, so it was the first one I've ever heard so maybe that's why I like to so much. It's all your fault. Yep. You picked the song order .

No, I didn't - I put the song order but you downloaded them in reverse order, you downloaded the one I put up last, first! Ha, don't go blaming me. So now you'll have to rectify it by listening to everything until you know every single word by heart. Or something. I should send you more Copeland. Yes yes.

Pssh. That's irrelevant .

And I don't think I'll ever know every single word by heart, however the lyrics are conveniently provided on iTunes. I shall use them to cheat.

Nah. Why waste my time searching and downloading when I can have you slave away sending the songs to me?

Hrmph. That's because I hardly sign into MSN and neither do you, so unless you want to be stuck with six Copeland songs for the next little while... either get your ass on MSN or start downloading

Having said that, have you listened to Anberlin at all?

Well you have to remind me. I don't sign into MSN unless you tell me to. And I assume it's vice versa .

What's wrong with six? Six is a perfectly viable number of songs. And I've listened to that Anberlin song with 'symphony' in the title (yeah, I have no idea what it's called) a couple of times. I haven't listened to the other one yet. My bad .

Yeah, quite true. I'm on Appear Offline anyway.

You bad, indeed. It's called 'The Symphony of (Blase)', by the way. Go listen to the other one as well!

And six is bad because it makes discussing Copeland hard. I mean... six songs. What can you do with six songs? Rank them? Discuss them one by one? Yes, you could do all that, but... it's only six songs!

I don't know where the other song of Anberlin's went. It seems to be lost in the abyss of my computer. It's not in iTunes .

How many songs do they have? There can't be that many. Ok. next time I'm on and you're on remember MSN and you can send me more Copeland. I'll go listen to them right now shall I? Otherwise I won't be able to have any type of discussion with you because I won't remember which song is which or how they go .

Copeland have three albums, at least two EPs and songs from other places as well. They've done quite a lot.

Alright, we'll remind each other to sign into MSN. And quick, go listen to the songs... but really, do you want Copeland (well duh) and Anberlin? If you do I could just zip up all the songs and send you in a huge file.
