Christina Aguilera Releasing Greatest Hits Album

Christina Aguilera's releasing greatest hits collection, "Keeps Gettin' Better -- A Decade of Hits".

Target and Target.com will be the sole retailers to carry Christina Aguilera's first greatest hits collection, "Keeps Gettin' Better -- A Decade of Hits," due Nov. 11 via RCA.

The set will include a pair of new songs, "Dynamite" and the title track, plus re-recorded versions of her prior hits "Genie in a Bottle" and "Beautiful."

Fans will receive a free download of "Keeps Gettin' Better" when they pre-order the CD beginning Sept. 30 via target.com/music. The track goes to top 40 radio on Sept. 22.

The collection will contain all four of the pop star's No. 1 hits: "Genie," "Come on Over (All I Want Is You)," "What a Girl Wants" and "Lady Marmalade," her collaboration with Lil' Kim, Mya and Pink on a remake of the Labelle classic.

Aguilera joins Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood, the Jonas Brothers and John Legend as artists who've released music exclusively through Target in recent years.

The artist is at work on the follow-up to her 2006 album "Back to Basics," but no release date has yet been announced.

Christina Aguilera Takes a Bow at Herald Square

Christina Aguilera rocked the Beauty Arcade at Macy’s Herald Square in Manhattan with the in-store appearance for the launch of her newest scent, Inspire.

It was the songstress’ first personal appearance for a fragrance and some 300 people lined up at the store Tuesday afternoon to have their bottles signed between 5 and 6 p.m.

“We had a very strong week at Herald Square,” said Donald Loftus, president and chief executive officer of Aguilera’s fragrance licensee, P&G Prestige Products Inc. “We had the biggest fragrance launch we’ve ever had there.” Loftus noted that Aguilera mobilized her huge fan base for the event. “She is incredibly talented, a delightful person and very gracious with the crowd,” he observed.

“It’s going to be very successful,” René Dominik, associate marketing director for lifestyle fragrances at P&G Prestige Products, said of Inspire. “A lot of customers were telling me they love the fragrance.”

Dominik noted that Aguilera had confirmed she will do a second personal appearance for the fragrance at Macy’s in Los Angeles in December.

P&G does not break out sales results, but industry sources estimate that Aguilera’s new fragrance generated about $50,000 in retail sales over the holiday weekend in the Herald Square flagship alone. Estimates were not available for the final tally at Tuesday’s appearance, but there was a sellout of 500 special $200 packs created for the event, according to sources.

Meanwhile, P&G was also launching its Dolce & Gabbana masterbrand, The One and The One for Men, in the Broadway side of the building.

Inspire, which is carried at about 1,000 doors — many of which are Macy’s with selected Dillard’s sprinkled in — is expected to remain in this distribution network until after the holidays, when it is to expand into wider distribution.
Plans call for Inspire to follow the distribution strategy used for a number of other companies’ celebrity scents and make its way into midtier retailers and eventually into mass market distribution in the next couple of years.

VMAs offer glimpse of music and mayhem

Britney Spears may not sing at MTV’s Video Music Awards, but Christina Aguilera will.

Aguilera will join other top-name performers, including the Jonas Brothers, T.I., Pink, and Kid Rock, host Russell Brand announced Thursday.

Speaking to reporters on the backlot of the Paramount Studios in Hollywood, Brand bantered with Aguilera, who emerged from a limousine, and rapper T.I., who shimmied down a fire escape on a street made to look like New York.“It’s going to be, actually, bloody exciting,” Brand said of the awards show, which will celebrate its 25th year on Sunday.

Brand, an English comedian largely unknown to U.S. audiences, displayed his brand of humor that can best be described with one British word: cheeky.

During Thursday’s presentation, he described the Jonas Brothers as “God’s favorite virgins” and racily commented on Aguilera’s physique.

Aguilera touted her upcoming appearance as her first televised performance since giving birth to son Max in January.

The comedian also poked fun at himself, saying that bulldozers were working overtime to keep his wild mane of hair in check.

Brand laced his remarks “bloody” and “‘ell” and a few words that are unprintable. But he also kept the buzz going about the VMAs, an awards show known for creating infamous pop culture moments. Almost as a footnote, he noted that Kanye West has signed on to close the show with a performance.

West has apparently mended his volatile relationship with MTV.

Last year, he famously promised not to return to the VMAs during a tirade he threw after losing in all five categories he was nominated for. The year before, he crashed the stage at the MTV Europe Awards after not winning for best video.

Brand, for his part, seems willing to deliver what MTV has described as a show that will be heavy on music and mischief.

Grabbing a megaphone, Brand led reporters through the Paramount backlot, delivering them at a soundstage where Kid Rock exploded on stage ? in a pair of white slippers ? for a rehearsal.

He also praised Spears, who will open the show, but won’t be performing. She could leave the backlot with more than she arrives with on Sunday. Spears has been nominated for three VMAs, including for video of the year for “Piece of Me.”

And a strong performance by her could erase some of the sting from her much ballyhooed performance of “Gimme More” at last year’s show.

There was no mention Thursday of Michael Jackson, who promoters have tried to lure to the show.

But the show already seems chock-full of two of the elements producers have promised: music and mayhem.

DJ Premier reveals details about Xtina/Aretha duet

DJ Premier is one of the greatest hip-hop producers of all time - in some polls, the greatest. The real heads know his beats after only a couple bars. So when he answers a question about some of his favourite collaborations, it’s a chance to listen to a first-hand account of the history of the genre.“Guru [his partner in Gang Starr] is always the best, because we always had chemistry and he was willing to challenge some of my beats that probably wouldn’t have worked for someone else,” he says, continuing, “Jay-Z is fun to work with because he’s very fast, Biggie was the same. Nas is fun. Royce Da 5′9″ is fun because we also have good chemistry in the studio. The Group Home album, ****, that was nightmare to do. Just like Kanye said, ‘You could do anything if Magic made it,’ that was my version. The things I went through to make that sound good - I gave them hot beats to camouflage the lack of lyrical ability. It ended being one of my most accomplished albums, but the people who saw me make it saw what really went down.”

More recently, he’s had a more successful working relationship with Christina Aguilera, whom he teamed up with on her Grammy-winning album Back to Basics. According to Premier, there’s more coming.

“She just called me last Sunday because Aretha Franklin is doing a duets album and she’s doing one of the cuts and she asked me to produce it. I said, ‘Hell yes!’ because I’m a big Aretha fan. Christina wants to keep it fun, sort of like when we did Ain’t No Other
Man, without copying it. Actually we both wish it was that record because Aretha would have torn that to pieces, but we’ll do something brand new.” More than simply a huge name to stand behind, he says Xtina has become “like a baby sister” to him.

“She’s about music. She pays respect. She’s just cool too - Flavor Flav and I were over at her house playing Mario Kart drinking Blue Label scotch, playing on the turntables with her husband - he’s nice on the turntables too. She’s down to earth. I’m very protective of her now. Anyone violates her, I’ll knock the **** out of them.”

You don’t live up to a name like Premier by sitting back. He takes a couple minutes to mention some of the pots he’s got his hands in (NYG’z, Blaq Poet, Royce Da 5′9″, Khaleel and an Italian rapper from New Jersey, Nicky Javas), but I have to ask about his long-awaited solo album, A Man of Few Words, that is now, apparently, on its way. Given that producers like Timbaland are increasingly stepping out from behind the decks and up to the mic, I ask him whether we can expect the debut of MC Preemo.

“I might rhyme on my album for fun, but only if Showbiz rhymes with me. If he does, you’ll hear me rhyme once and only once on my album - otherwise nothing. I like being in the background.”

Okay guys, Just to give you all some heads up as some of you may know that Christina will be having 2 performances as I have posted earlier on that Christina will be performing “Genie in a Bottle”. Now according to US Magazine that Christina will set to perform the song, titled “Keeps Gettin’ Better” on this upcoming 2008 MTV Video Music Awards live on this Sunday.

This might be my favorite VMA's ever!!

Christina to lend voice for new 3D animation film

Christina will be a new 3D animation film, along side with Ben Kingsley, Samuel L. Jackson, Catherine Zeta Jones, Michael Douglas and other hollywood a-listers actors & actresses.

As part of this covenant, CDIL will produce the animation content for Motion Pixel Corporation over a one year period, from their art studio in Chennai. Written by renowned Hollywood writer, M.Guerrier, the film is expected to release worldwide during the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup. Academy Award winning actor, Ben Kingsley, Catherine Zeta Jones, Michael Douglas, Samuel L.Jackson, Christina Aguilera and others would lend their voices to the film.

Work on the movie will begin in July with around a team of 104 artists. The script and voice overs for Goaaaaal! have been finalized whereas work on concept art and character sketches is in progress.
