I've seen her show Cheyenne on MTV and i just bought her album. So far Hanging On is my favorite but the whole cd is good. The girl can really play guitar.

I've never head her songs or seen her - hadn't even heard of her until this thread, to be honest. So my mental image of her has always been of a black woman, until I saw the fanart my mind works in strange ways.

Cheyenne: Ready For Her Close-up
The singer dishes on being a reality star and spills her beauty secrets

On a steamy day in New York City, Cheyenne Kimball walks into Sephora Times Square looking fresh and ready to shop. The 15-year-old singer-songwriter has been bouncing around town making appearances during the release week for her debut album, The Day Has Come, before heading out on tour. But before she hits the road, she just has to stock up on products at the beauty superstore. TEEN PEOPLE Beauty Director Lori Bergamotto tagged along to see what's on Cheyenne's list of on-the-road essentials.

As Lori and Cheyenne stroll around the store, curious customers notice the blonde pixie in a cute beige top, skinny jeans and jeweled heels. Some whisper, and it isn't long before a nervous fan approaches the young star and asks, "Are you Cheyenne?" Politely, she introduces herself to the star struck girl, who already totally knows her from her MTV reality show, Cheyenne.

"It's crazy!" Cheyenne exclaims, marveling at her newfound celebrity. "I'm starting to get a little more used to [getting recognized] because everywhere I go it happens. But I just try to be a normal person. I hate it when stars are snobby, because you lose a fan that way."

Her friendly attitude -- not to mention her way with a guitar -- has paid off. Her album debuted in the number 15 spot on the Billboard Top 200, and at a recent opening gig for Natasha Bedingfield, it seemed the entire crowd knew the words to her first single, "Hanging On." And even though the season finale of Cheyenne has aired, the cameras are still following her in case the show gets picked up for a second season. "My album is coming out and new and exciting things are happening. It's getting even bigger so we want them to be there to capture that in case we do get a second season," she says.

But it's music, not television, that Cheyenne really loves. She's been writing songs ever since her mother sent her to her room for being mean to her sister at the tender age of eight. "I remember writing it and hoping it would get me out of trouble," she recalls on her website. "I haven't stopped writing songs or getting into trouble since." But Cheyenne knows how much television can help a singer become a star; she won NBC star search America's Most Talented Kid in 2003. "I'm a music fanatic, and the TV thing is helping me do my music," she explains like a wise industry veteran. "I live for being on stage and seeing the crowd and getting applause."

So does Cheyenne watch Cheyenne? "I watch my show all the time. I missed it last night though… I was so bummed," she says. "You forget that you do things and it's cool to relive it in a way."
