| bryan adams - cause the only thing that looks good on us is him!! HI! this is a thread dedicated to the one and only BRYAN ADAMS (not that cheap copy of ryan adams,eh? just joking, i actually never heard anything from ryan adams, ok?) Date of Birth: November 1959 Birth Place: Kingston, Ontario, Canada Factoids: Says he wrote most of the songs for his new film by phone. Due to a car accident occured in September 10, 2000 his injuries included a torn calf muscle, as well as scrapes and bruises to his hip, ribcage, chest, stomach, and right leg. The most serious damage was to Adams' right knee, with injuries to the bones and tendons, along with his hamstring. On his world tour of 92/93/94 he helped created the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary, by issuing over half a million postcards to the fans at the shows, encouraging them to write and send them to Governments opposed to the sanctuary. With a career spanning over 20 years and worldwide album sales that rival the biggest recording artists in the world, his I'm just the bass player in the band attitude seems rather simple, compared to his career achievements, but that's just how he is. mAru :ya_bella: | |||

| Haven't heard anything new about him. And all that time I never new he was Canadian when I saw a video feature of him on MuchMusic! ![]() For a while I always got a kick out of his voice but love the music and the lyrics to some of his songs. | |||

| Good thing I checked to see if there was a Bryan thread already buried on the board somewhere before I went and started one myself. ![]() He's got a new album coming out pretty much everywhere except the US (hopefully it'll be out there too some time soon) on Sept 20. It's called Room Service, and was written and recorded on tour, backstage and in hotel rooms (hence the title).Apparently there's also gonna be an acoustic album released soon after, which will have some of the songs from Room Service, plus a few other new ones too. ![]() They're releasing some of the new songs on his website leading up to the album release, but they're in the members section, so unless you're a fanclub member (which my hubby is) you can't listen to 'em yet. The song they put up yesterday is called East Side Story. Can't post a link to the song, but here are the lyrics for anyone who's interested... there was this girl i used to see - down on 42nd street / she'd walk by on her way to work - n' make the air smell so sweet / i used to sit in a coffee shop - sometimes i'd have a cup / and when she'd go by - she'd light up the sky / like the sun coming up / she be standin' by the bus stop - driver opened up the door / i'd just sit n' watch her - getting on the 104 / i wanna give her my number - i wanna tell her my name / wanna climb on board that cross-town bus / take a chance she feels the same / it's just another east side story / everybody's got a tale to tell / and like a hundred guys before me / i fell under her spell / some things you hold on to - some you just let go / seems like the ones that you can't have / are the ones that you want most / i think about her sometimes - i wonder if she was real / and if i ever find her i'm gonna tell her how i feel / it's just another east side story / everybody's got a tale to tell and like a hundred guys before me / i fell under her spell / it's still the same old story - it's still the same old game / up there on the eastside - life goes on the same / she never knew my number - never even knew my name / she climbed on board that cross-town bus i never saw her again There's a blurb from Bry about the song too. He's saying how he finds New York to be the most fascinating city with all those people crammed in, and interacting with each other. That's was the song was inspired by. It's about that person on the street who you just see for a moment, but you still make some sort of connection, even though you never even speak to them. 'Tis a catchy tune. Apparently there are gonna be some real old style rock songs on this album, too. Can't wait! ![]() Edited to add that if you go here you can hear a clip of Open Road, the first single off the album. ![]() | |||
