| Big Country - Dreams Stay With You! Don't tell me I'm the only Big Country fan on this entire forum. *pleads* I can't be! This band is incredible! I've been scrambling for about eight months to try and find/buy as many of their songs/albums as possible, and I've succeeded in getting three studio albums and three compilations. It's such a shame that such a great band went seemingly unnoticed, particularly in mainstream, for so long. *sigh* Who else likes them? __________________ "Well, I was born Mary Patterson but then I got married, so naturally I took my husband's name, and now I'm Neil Patterson." | Their biggest hit in America was "In A Big Country" in the early 80s. In a big country / Dreams stay with you / Like a lover's voice fires the mountainside / Stay alive "Harvest Home" (How many sheaves were counted? / How did the carriage shine? / How many thoughts were doubted? / How did the landlord dine? / Just as you sow you shall reap / Just as you sow you shall reap / In a harvest home) "Fields of Fire" ( 400 miles / Without a word until you smile / 400 miles / On fields of fire) "Chance" (Oh, Lord / Where did the feeling go? / Oh, Lord / I never felt so low) "Wonderland" (And you will take my hand and be with me in wonderland / I need the love of you / I am an honest man / I feel the winter too) "East of Eden" (I looked west in search of freedom / And I saw slavery / I looked east in search of answers / And I saw misery / Some days I just don't worry / I let it pour through me / So we're out here to the east of eden / I let my conscience be) "Where the Rose is Sown" (If I die in a combat zone / Box me up and ship me home / If I die and still come home / Lay me where the rose is sown) "Just A Shadow" (It's just a shadow of the man you should be / Like a garden in the forest that the world will never say / And you have no thought of answers only questions to be filled / And if feels like hell) "Look Away" (So look away, look away / Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold / Look away, look away / From the lies in the stories that were told / Look away, look away / From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul) "The Teacher" (Teacher, will you show to me / The bond between the land and sea / I am new to mystery / I want everything laid out for me / All of history / All of history) "One Great Thing" (If there's one great thing / To happen in my life / If there's one great day / If there's one great height / Let it be the time for peace / Let it be the time of right / If there's one great thing to happen in my life) "Hold the Heart" (Because you hold the heart of someone new / I'll take a chance on time / Hold out here for something true / Standing out of line / But I would wait a hundred years / To hear you say my name / The way you did before he came / The way you will again) "King of Emotion" (I want that love / King of emotion / Stronger than you and so much deeper than me / I know that love is / King of emotion / King of emotion take a walk with me / NaNaNaNaDeeDeeDeeDee / NaNaNaNaNaNaDeDeDe / I know that love is / King of emotion / King of emotion take a walk with me) "Broken Heart (Thirteen Valleys)" (That broken heart will be forever and a lifetime / That broken heart will try your love like none before / And you may fight or you may run / But what was fast is now undone / A broken heart needs someone new to blame it on) "Peace in our Time" (Give us peace in our time / Give us peace in our time / While I have no life to live / Then I have no life to give / Give us peace in our time) "Fragile Thing" (with Eddi Reader) (Love is a small and fragile thing / I spend a lot of cold nights missing you / Keep it in your hands or let it take wing / I spend a lot of cold nights missing you) That's just a few... __________________ "Well, I was born Mary Patterson but then I got married, so naturally I took my husband's name, and now I'm Neil Patterson." | "In A Big Country" was their only top 40 hit. however, they had another big radio hit with "Fields of Fire (400 Miles)". i actually saw them open for the Eurythmics back in 1983. too bad the lead singer killed himself a few years ago. ![]() __________________ how i feel like i'm starless. | |||

| Only Top 40 hit in America. ![]() "Look Away" made it to number one Ireland, and I think most of the ones I listed made it to top 40 in Europe. I wish I had discovered them earlier, but had I, I probably would have not liked them. Now I shall never see them. RIP, Stuart Adamson. __________________ "Well, I was born Mary Patterson but then I got married, so naturally I took my husband's name, and now I'm Neil Patterson."
