| Analyze This:A 'What the hell does this lyric mean' thread Once upon a time, I was listening to a favorite song of mine and though I was left thoroughly entertained at the end, I was also a bit confused. Now I intended to just ask 'What the hell does this lyric mean?’ and be done with it, and then I thought 'Why not post a thread for everyone who's ever been left just a little bit confused during/while/after listening to a song?' So I am, because that why I can make myself feel like a good guy while still satisfying my own ulterior motives. Anyway, here's how it works: You post the lyric that leaves you not a little bit confused like so: Stones taught me to fly (Damien Rice, O, Cannonball) Along with the artist, album, song title beneath it(simply because I hate when I read a lyric that intrigues me but have no way of knowing what song, album, artist it came from) And then people(you all) reply and say things like: 'Oh thats supposed to mean...' 'That lyric symbolizes...' 'What s/he's saying with that line is...' '...IMO' ect. And everything runs smooth as... well something really smooth. That’s how I imagined it anyway, so let’s test my theory. I'll even go first. What the hell does this lyric mean? Stones, they taught me to fly (Damien Rice, O, Cannonball) Because, I can't for the life of me figure it out. So... Have at it, and everyone else have a go aw well. Or else ... Joking. Really. Well, what are you waiting for? __________________ Spike/Buffy *Spike/Dru *Fox/Whitney *Spike/Anya *Rory/Jess * Shannon/Boone *Ben/Sofie * The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed. | First of all, I love that song. I always thought that the lyrics were meant to be kind of ironic, like how he says "love taught me to lie, life taught me to die" etc. So by saying "Stones taught me to fly" he's saying with irony that a sedentary, lifeless object taught him to fly. Does that make sense? I could be wrong, I guess some songs are just open to interpretation, which can be a good thing, or just plain confusing Of course, he could've just made it up so it would rhyme...![]() __________________ -Naomi- Luke/Lorelai Jess/Rory Jackie/Hyde Alex/Isabel Dawson/Jen Pacey/Andie Chris/Meg Jack/Kate![]() Dawson/Joey Jack/Jen Ryan/Seth Meg/Sam Marty/Rory Luke/Jess![]() Luke: He's a grown man with an etch-a-sketch! | There's always a website that you can look up a song, and users post the meanings on there. If I'm correct, the website is http://songmeanings.net | |||

| i don't know what the song 12:51 means especially the part that says: 'we could go and get 40's, f--- going to that party' then later it says 'we can go and get 40's, then we'll go to some party' artist: The Strokes title: 12:51 album: Is This It? | |||
