You need to get one that does to, mine is a Philips-DVP 642, but I know there are others out there, the one my brother and I bought for my mom might actually be even better though I can't say for sure.

Mine plays XviD and Divx, if yours does then there would be no need for converting.

No, really, I know that as well, but it's rather new, so what can I say? The old one didn't.

I actually have 3 DVD players, one of them is broken under my bed (or at least the tray is garbage), 2 of them are hooked up, I like my older of the two better, if it won't play something I try it on the other one though.

I like the older one better as well, but that might have something to do with the fact that I haven't read the whole operation manual of the new one .

heh, I had a DVD or CD stuck in my really old one that is under my bed... that pissed me off, though I'm pretty sure I go that out now...

I have no idea... I just remember doing somethign with the DVD player before... trying to hook something up or something and it had something in it at the time and the disc ended up going into the DVD player...
