I think that was the initial intention, but the show kept having life brought to it so it finally came time to figure out how to do it and make it realistic for the show, and for Brennan and Booth. Of course BONES is not the usual cop/scientist solving crime show.

Bones is such a character driven show down the fact all the characters, including squint-terns were given stories to deliver and you grew to know them all. So the fact they could be put together, like Hodgins and Angela were, and make it work. You probably had a bigger success chance...

But the show had no way to know. But thankfully the chemistry between David and Emily led the way. And the show decided to take the chance.

Yeah they worked it well. Booth and Brennan getting together too soon wouldn't have worked. Brennan needed to get to a point where she could trust Booth would love her and not leave her. Also she needed to realize that she could love Booth the way he deserved.

Yup. In the beginning because of her baggage, she found commitment to fleeting and while she bonded with Booth. She wasn't ready to view a relationship with Booth as something that could work longterm. And especially because she knew Booth was a one woman guy, who viewed commitment as a real thing and something he wanted...

Now he had his own issues with finding the right woman. But still he was more together in that part of his life. And for Brennan to go there, she needed to be ready.

Their chemistry was off the charts. I think that is why I was so drawn in. I was glad they got together when they did because I was ready to scream "enough already".

It made you want to watch. I then grew to love the show for all of it's merits, including the standout supporting case but that is what first drew me in. The fact they were so different, and yet the chemistry was off the charts.

I remember wondering if they were going to kiss in that first episode. That scene at the shooting range was on fire!

The pilot wasn't the first episode that I saw. Actually I don't even remember how long it took me to watch the pilot.

I came in late in the first season. I believe I saw "Man in a Morgue" The Louisana episode as my first episode. Then I saw the Epps first one and saw that it was a rerun, and then saw the first finale and I was hooked and was eager to catch up. And saw some reruns over the summer hiatus.

I had to buy the first season DVD to catch the early episodes. But I was hooked by the chemistry.

I remember hearing David after years of Buffy and Angel fame had been cast in a new show called Bones, and I was dismissive of it so I didn't watch it. I remember the critics weren't that kind early on, but it hung on...

But yeah the chemistry of the two sold me, and then then as I saw the show I grew to love the rest of the characters...

I love their behind the scenes stuff too. You can tell they are close too in real life.
