Emily To Be Interviewed by Craig Ferguson 8/31

Emily Deschanel will be interviewed on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on Monday August 31st (8/31). The Late Late Show airs Weeknights at 12:35 AM ET/PT. This should be good. Craig Ferguson is always such a hilarious no-holds-barred kind of interviewer. He doesn't mind asking the hard questions and making ridiculous jokes that other interviewers would be afraid would be insulting. Tune in! I should have a YouTube vid up that day (someone always puts it up online and I'll post it here). There might be a clip of the premiere in there and perhaps some premiere scoop by Emily who is 'making the rounds' in the interviews.

Fall TV: Your most eagerly awaited return?

Two days ago, a colleague loaned me the screener of Bones‘ Sept. 17 season 5 premiere she’d been sent. (I got to keep the striped socks that came with it.) I procrastinated going home that night because I was obviously going to watch it, and if I didn’t like how it dealt with last season’s frustrating finale, there would be no way that the show could ever regain its status as my favorite from Burn Notice. And I wasn’t ready to deal with that possibility. Literally, I had to emotionally prepare to press play. As I finally slid the DVD into my laptop — which seemed a more fitting battleground than my flatscreen for this very personal war — I sighed “Let’s do it” aloud. Presumably, the “us” I was psyching up/putting on alert was myself and my sanity. It’s at that moment that I realized Bones’ is the return I am most eagerly awaiting. (You won’t get spoilers from me — that’s what Ausiello’s for — but I will say that the premiere quickly explains the season 4 ender and is satisfying enough that I’m looking forward to recapping the show again on PopWatch.) Which returning show’s premiere are you that invested in, and why? Embarrassing anecdotes about how you handled its season finale and anticipate behaving during its season premiere welcome and encouraged. We’re all friends here.

Emily Deschanel Promises "More Kissing" on Bones

The Bones you love is back. After last season's frustrating finale, Bones returns next month with a heartwarming and very sweet season premiere that has all of the Booth-Bones chemistry you could want, along with outstanding squint comedy, a rollicking good mystery and a guest gig by Cyndi Lauper. We just chatted up series stars Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz and Michaela Conlin and got them to spill on the season to come... Booth's Brain: After last season's coma drama, the big issue is Booth's brain. Is he really himself? And if he has residual feelings for Bones, are those feelings genuine, or are they symptoms of brain damage? Emily tells us, "Booth's character is kind of confused about our relationship when he wakes up, and that adds a whole new element to our relationship." Or as David puts it, in his own inestimable way, "The biggest thing coming out of last season is that my mind was shattered, and I've got to get it back. These genuine feelings that I have for her, I really think they're true." Psssst...they are, darn it! Mondo Flirtation: The main characters never can seem to seal the deal, but that won't stop them from continuing to make goo-goo eyes at each other. As David Boreanaz adorably tells us: "I don't care about the crime solving. I just care about my relationship with her. The other stuff just happens. I don't care about the bones and the crime. I care about what they're doing over the crime scene." Clothes Make the Man? In the first few episodes, the series is very preoccupied with getting Booth back into gear, and part of that involves getting Booth back into his supersuit. (Fox even included a pair of funky rainbow, Booth-style socks with the season-five press kit!) As Boreanaz puts it, "I'm not dressed 100 percent because I don't know how to dress in my Booth costume—Booth's batsuit, whatever you call it. Yeah, that's a utility belt. It's a cocky belt buckle." But don't worry. We're pretty sure he'll get all the pieces together soon enough. Yay! The best tidbit we got, however, comes from the divine Ms. Deschanel, who tells us, "There absolutely will be more kissing [between Bones and Booth]." Whoo-hoo! Hodgela! Other good news coming out of this season? Angela and Hodgins' long separation may finally be coming to an end. The beautiful Michaela Conlin tells us, "I hear [Jack and Angela] are going to be reconciling soon! Hopefully they're on their way to making it back toward each other." Whoo! Last but Not Least: Forgive us for one second while we get up on our soapbox about Bones, a wonderful and charming series that's just been treading the same romantic waters for much too long. Dear Hart Hanson, Do it. Just do it. We double-dog-dare you to put Bones and Booth together. We've heard the excuses about how a Bones and Booth hookup would kill the show, but the electricity between those two characters will not short out so easily. The series' best and most powerful moments are always when Booth and Bones come together, not when they force themselves apart. The power of their strained and distant partnership would be multiplied many times over if you harnessed the thrill of their rare touches and honest moments and channeled into a complicated full-time thing. Try it. You might like it. And we would love it. Sincerely, Your fans Bones premieres Sept. 17 at 9 p.m. on Fox.

'Bones' exclusive: Emily and Zooey together at last?!

It’s the on-screen pairing Bones fans have been waiting for. No, not Booth and Brennan — Emily and Zooey! Bones is talking to Emily Deschanel’s movie-star sis, Zooey, about guest-starring this December! “We’ve been looking for an opportunity to get the Deschanel girls together,” notes exec producer Hart Hanson, “but Zooey’s rockin’ career kept getting in the way.” Assuming the scheduling can be worked out this time around, Hanson wants the star of this summer’s indie smash (500) Days of Summer to play (natch) a relative of Brennan’s. “We alluded to [her] having a cousin in Minnesota two seasons ago. I’d very much like to meet her in the Christmas episode.”
