At the hospital, Booth is trying to be all encouraging and the squints are discussing the severity.

Brennan assures him she’ll get him whatever he needs to keep his job. WOW.


Booth, to Sweets: A word.
Sweets: I’m on the phone.
<Booth grabs Sweets’ arm and leads him toward Brennan’s office>
Sweets: Tight grip. Very tight grip!
<Booth drags Sweets into Brennan’s office>
Booth <discusses how he gave his list to the bureau and they gave it to Sweets> He’s the one you should have slugged. So do it. Go ahead and slug him now.
Brennan: You chose not to tell me?
Sweets: Yes. Okay. It’s true. Technically. Well actually -
<talks about her being able to handle his death>
Brennan: I think that was a good choice.
Booth: Wait a minute now Why are you mad at me?
Brennan: Because you should have told me
Brennan: Yes you know I’m very trustworthy
Later, to Booth: There’s gotta be some other stuff going on here.
Then later, Booth: Well apple pie. She doesn’t like baked pie.
Booth: Slug him.
Sweets talking about Booth’s encouraging her to enjoy pie is a form of seduction.
Brennan is very upset with him about being an experiment – because if Booth hears what you did he’ll beat you up.

At the diner, Booth and Brennan having coffee.
Brennan: You’re just having coffee. No pie?
Brennan asks if it’s because of what Sweets says.
Booth: I’m just going pieless.
Sweets walks up: No pie, you always eat pie.
Then Sweets has a profile on who he thinks might be Gorgomon … Jack Hodgins.
Sweets: And the emotional connection you share with Agent Booth
Brennan: No – I don’t want to talk about this. No
Booth: Don’t you know you can’t force her

Cam thinks it’s Sweets.

This is one messed up episode, but crazy good!

And we're back. Wait, no, that was a Nissan commercial. Watch carefully as I jump the gun.

Cam is in front of a computer, and then Hodgins wanders in unannounced. He wants to know which one of the is the suspect, but Cam won't confirm or deny. He says he found "something." Zach thought the mandible had been boiled, and Hodgins worked with that theory. There was a spike in the lead level of the tap water the jaw was boiled in.
The lead level suggests that the water came from Hodgins' neighborhood. This points to Zach or Hodgins, really, but Hodgins did turn in the evidence, so...
Back to the diner. It's Brennan and Booth. They walk in and Sweets is there. They start grilling him about his whereabouts after the explosion. He says he was in Brennan's office calling 911...and he just sarcastically admitted to stealing the skeleton and being Gormagon's apprentice. Brennan and Booth are trying to decide whether or not to arrest him, since he did just confess. Sweets gets uber-hostile.

Cut to the hospital. Angela is asleep in Zach's room. Hodgins show up and wakes her with a kiss. Zach wakes up as they're talking abobut him
He describes a dream about the skeleton leading him. Then he was thinking about the explosion. Hodgins keeps pushing the painkiller button until Zach shuts up.

Brennan is in her office. Cam swings in the door to talk to her. Brennan is analyzing the DNA from the mandible. The bases of the DNA alleles are destroyed, which points to the use of UV light treatment.
They think that the rest of the skeleton is in the Jeffersonian.

Commercial.

Loved Booth and Brennan interrogating Sweets at the diner on where Sweets was and he jokes about stealing the skeleton.
Booth: I could lock you up for 72 hours
Sweets: You’d lock me up for sarcasm?


Zach in the hospital … he has the only key to the chemical cabinet … Jack gives him painkillers and Zach falls asleep.

Angela calls the skeletal storage unit "Limbo." There are a whole bunch of forensic anthropology grad students who are there to help. Brennan won't necessarily pass the students for helping to solve the case.

Caroline: Serial killers get mean when you get close to catching them.

Caroline is creeped out by the whole skeletal remains thing. The annoying male sutdent found an extra femur and fibula of a middle aged man in the box of skeletal remains of a 4 year old. The short female student found extra bones too, and has already laid them out anatomically. Brennan analyzes the bones. She wants DNA samples from the bones. The extra skull is missing the mandible.

Another student has an entire layout of skulls missing only the canine teeth. It is revealed that Limbo doesn't have security cameras.

Back in the lab, the extra skeleton found by the female student are the skeletal remains of a missing lobbyist.

The jaw wasn't gnawed by artificial dentures! Zach was wrong! He KNEW that they weren't artificial. They were made of all canines, and canines symbolize the wolf. Which in turn symbolizes Gormagon.

Brennan is really unsettled. She realizes that Zach is Gormagon.

Brennan realized Zach made a mistake, that he knew they weren’t real that it was all canines. Not dentures.

Booth: Okay Bones, enough about the wolf what’s going on?
Brennan: Zach lied

Brennan: He took the teeth from the bones storage and he made gormogon’s dentures

Cam is sitting with Zach, reading to him out of some sort of math/science book, using terms like "fat fish" to describe symbols in an equation. Brennan and Booth show up. They're 100% certain that Zach is Gormagon's apprentice. Cam leaves.

Zach planned the explosion and everything. He KNEW how badly he was going to be injured. He did it anyway. Gormagon is not Gormagon. He's "The Master." Zach can't reveal a name; the Apprentice is expendable.

Brennan: I've always been proud of you, Zach. I've never met anyone more rational or more intelligent.

They start a battle of wits, logic, and fallacies. Brennan humanizes the actions, thus revealing that Zach's logic is flawed. He has a value for human life because he risked everything to save Hodgins.

Zach: He first approached me three months ago at a symposium on burning plastic (Diagnostics).

He doesn't have a name, but he has a location/house. He is describing the place while we see a sniper/FBI team, etc preparing to invade The Master's house.

They're in. The Master has found another victim and is currently feasting on another victim. He throws a candlestick at a sniper, and is promptly killed by Booth himself.

Back to the hospital. Caroline is with Zach. Everyone is outside his room, watching. Booth shows up. The Master was a nobody. "An invisible man, angry at history for not seeing him."

Zach killed the lobbyist. He stabbed him in the heart. Caroline cut a deal with Zach. He pleads guilty, and they claim non compus mentus. He'll be transferred to a secure psychiatric facility.

They're all outside, wathching him like he's a caged animal.

Back in the lab...they're all around a table, each blaming themselves for Zach's choices. Cam doesn't though. She Doesn't mean anything she says about what Zach deserves as punishment. Silence.

Hodgins has a box of Zach's favorite stuff: King of the Lab trophy, pocked Kama Sutra, Harmonica, a King of the Lab drawing by Angela. All of his favorite things were gifts from the squints.

Brennan never gave him anything. She feels awful about it, obviously. SHe leaves and goes to sit on the stairs. Booth follows her. He has a letter to Zach, written by Brennan, offering him the position in the lab. He'd kept it.

Booth: I think you gave him something great, Bones.

Brennan leans her head on Booth's shoulder.

End Episode.

Booth and Bones show up at Zach’s hospital room all serious. And Cam is shocked. And they discussed the mandible and the explosion.
Booth is mad: Who’s Gorgomon.
Zach is discussing his logic and the master and Booth is upset and Brennan is trying to be logical. Talks about his reasoning.
Brennan: Yet you risked it all so you wouldn’t hurt Hodgins.
Booth: Bones I need a name.
Brennan: We know.
Zach, I need to know who this guy is. I need to go get him now.
Describes how to get to house.
Booth and FBI go there over Zach’s description.
Booth kills Gorgomon with a shotgun.

Discuss Zach’s future.
Sweets argues that Zach isn’t insane.
Booth: You’re going to give this one to bones.
Sweets: I understand.

Brennan: I never gave him anything.
Angela talks about him loving her.
Brennan: But I never gave him anything
Brennan walks off
Booth stops Angela who starts to follow, and he and goes after her

Booth reads her the letter where she offered him the post.
Booth: I think you gave him something great ones
She lays her head on his shoulder, he puts his head on hers.

I loved Zach. I hate that he got sucked up into the Gormagon thing.

I went into it going "Man... I hope it's not Sweets..." Then I switched to "Oh NO! It had better not be Hodgins!" Then....



Noooo!!! I am so shocked and upset! His logic... and the flaw in it... and it's so sad.

Just ... mind blowing. I mean, I'm upset by it. But ... it was well done. I wish now we HADN'T had the writer's strike so this could have played out longer.

Sheesh ... the poor squint family.

Brennan will shoot up a wall to protect herself, justifying that it's for the good of the lab. She won't be able to hire a replacement.
