It looks good, but it's on against some stiff competition.

Hi all

I've just begun watching this show, but this episode was one that really hooked me! :wiggle: It was an awesome episode! Great flirtation between Booth and Brennan .... moving revelations about Brennan..... just one of the first episodes to really make me think.... I might get addicted to this show

Wildfire Girl 10-28-2007 06:34 PM

:lmao: So you've watched Eppy #5 and REALLY liked it? Oh trust me, it's JUST the beginning.

I just LOVED how Booth was at her little seminar, interupting her.
Booth: (laughs) You’ve got to be kidding me.
Bones: What? My publishers gave it to me.
Booth: Gave it to you?
Bones: Book sales are pretty good. It’s supposed to be a nice car.
Booth: Gave it to you?
Bones: Yeah.
Booth: Well, why’d you park crooked?
Bones: Well the guy said to always park it like that.
Booth: (shakes his head) He’s wrong. It makes you look like an idiot.
Bones: How about I drive for once?
Booth: No, I cannot show up at a crime scene in that.
Bones: Why?
Booth: Because it would detract from the gravity of my FBI presence, especially if you parked crooked.

Booth: Bones, I thought you would like to know. Sean and David are in emergency care. I pulled some strings you know to make sure they get to stay together.
Bones: (writing on her clipboard.) That’s good thanks.
Booth: It’s the best I could do.
Bones: Yeah I understand.
Booth: (irritated) You say you understand but you don’t, not really. I mean if you don’t like the rule you ignore it, right? (puts his hand on the table to lean on it and breaks the pencil.) I can’t have that and if you want to do this.
Bones: Do what?
Booth: Work on cases. You know, with me outside the lab. If you want to do that, I need to know that you will respect the law.
Bones: Tell you what. If I can’t respect the law, I can at least respect you.
Booth: Oh, maybe, yeah that will work too I mean it kind of comes out of nowhere but…
Bones: (looks at pencil) Look what you did.
Booth: It’s a pencil. I’ll get you a new one.

And :thud: that scene ... at the end-ish ... when she gets the name from the boy, and Booth says he has to make it happen ... he was so proud of Bones!
Booth: She did it. She got his name.

And then ...
Bones: You report that to Child Services?
Booth: Mm. Hm. Try to get the kid some help… and I’m sorry.
Bones: For what?
Booth: You have personal experience in the system.
Bones: I was a foster child until my grandfather got me out.
Booth: Yeah, when you said, um, they take you away from your brother, I kind of had the feeling you weren’t talking about David Cook.
Bones: Booth, I’ll tell you all about it one day but tonight I have to get dressed for a party.
Booth: Hmm. Okay Bones.
Bones: By the way, there is a huge ding in my passenger side door because you told me not to park it at an angle.
Booth: (laughs)
Bones: Okay that’s just mean!
Booth: (laughs harder.)
Bones: You’re mean.
Booth: Sorry.

 When he learned about her previous foster care, and her being an "orphan" ...

Then the end? Such a GREAT one ... one of my fave moments ever between Booth and Brennan ...

Booth: You look nice. Better then nice you look uh, very…
Bones: Thanks.
Booth: (laughs) Bones, how did you know I was going to keep your promise?
Bones: What promise?
Booth: To get Sean and David back with Margaret Sanders.
Bones: Maybe I was lying to catch the bad guy. I learned that trick from you. The end justifies the means.
Booth: Hmm. (goes to walk away)
Bones: Booth, I knew you would back me up. I knew you wouldn’t make me a liar.
Booth: Hmm. How’d you know?
Bones: Because you want to go to Heaven.
Booth: But you don’t believe in Heaven.
Bones: But you do.

Karen, did you transcribe all the B/B stuff for all episodes? :look:

I love that little exchange.

That part is so funny
"Because you want to go to Heaven"
It looks like she's talking to a 5 year old kid :P

That was a really good episode.
Brennan was so wonderful with Shawn

Brennan and Booth had some funny banters

We started to learn more about Brennan. While the Grandfather line was ignore in future episodes as her story got more intense, but you really start to see Brennan's issue with being in foster care, and she would go to champion those kinds of kids in cases.

She was able to get through with the boy...

msstock87 04-02-2020 07:11 PM

I loved this episode so much. I loved whenever we got a glimpse of her past and how it affected her present.

Jasper1975 04-03-2020 07:46 AM

People underestimated her in those cases. When you really had to understand a youngster. She did it many times. Starting so early. She was able to use her past, and her issues still with it, to really get the boy to tell the truth.

msstock87 04-04-2020 04:31 PM

Exactly, people thought because she was so technical and smart she could not understand kids, or people. She showed us here that she more than could.

Jasper1975 01-07-2022 01:23 PM

A sad, bittersweet episode. We really got to see Brennan's ability to see kids in the foster care system with a light that we do not typically see with her. She really did get them. Of course we would find out that they removed a certain fact of her backstory, and rewrote it.

msstock87 01-08-2022 01:53 PM

It was a sad episode for sure but one of my favorites. I was glad we got to hear a bit about Brennan’s past.

Jasper1975 01-10-2022 12:49 PM

Love how she made it so that the boys stayed with the foster mother. She manipulated the situation perfectly.

Brennan looked gorgeous in the dress at the end.

You can see Angela fighting with the concept of her job, and Dr. Goodman managing to make her feel good about it.

msstock87 01-10-2022 08:30 PM

I loved how she made sure they stayed together too. She knew first hand how important it was.

I loved the talk in her office with Booth at the end. Where he figured out that she might have been talking from personal experience.

Jasper1975 01-11-2022 11:08 AM

She saw how the boys were loved. Regardless of how Charlie came to her possession. She wanted to be the boys mother, and loved them unconditionally.

Booth was beginning to see there were more layers to Brennan than the ones you often only see, her intellect.
