It was funny to see Brennan actually reacting to a child, especially knowing what she knew. She usually stayed detached, unless it hit her buttons in regards to her foster care time. But this one, and with Angela having a baby at the same time. It made her react.

Definitely. While she probably thought he might be happy, but on the other side the nervous side because this was yet another diversion from their plans, but she didn't probably need to be because for Booth, this was god's way of giving him something to hang on to... And while they didn't know or we didn't know if they would make this into a relationship. It was a stepping stone...
And a realization of his coma dream come true. I love how you saw it sink in, and his frown went into a big smile. And she was allowed to smile too... After a long long season. A great surprise for both of them! __________________

And a start of a new beginning, and chapter to their love story. And gave the show some added spark.
And given how the plot twist was unexpected due real life, we got lucky that the show decided to go for it because it allowed them to really add to Booth and Brennan, and this was a nice low key episode but with a whopper of a ender, and opened so many possibilities. __________________

It definitely added an interesting spark to the show. I think I remember reading that Emily said it would have been very hard to hide her pregnancy.

She would have had to stay at the lab all the time. Given the timing of her pregnancy, you couldn't do the early part of Brennan's pregnancy which I missed because I would have loved to seen the early months, and the reaction of the gang...
But really, she would have had to stay at the lab behind the gurneys, or at her desk all the time. So it made complete sense for them to write it in. Which opened up storyline. And I am glad they didn't go for the Plan A storyline if Emily hadn't gotten pregnant when she did. Although I would have gone for the first part. I think the plan was for B and B to sleep together regardless. But you would have had the stepping back in the wake of going to the next level. And they might have given them more angst. So writing it in, you can see it weaving into the storyline in the last couple of months... Thankfully they wrote it in. I loved how we got to see Booth and Brennan in their little family with Christine! __________________
